A special International Women's Day with Laura Hardin of Infinite Companion & formerly DJ on OPBmusic and XRAY's DJ Ben Hubbird
On today’s episode of the Journeywomen podcast, I chatted with Laura Hardin about abiding in Christ. We talked about everything from what it actually means to abide in Christ to how doing so impacts our lives every day. Listen to what she said, “When I abide in Christ, life is no longer about me, it’s about him, and he always orients me towards others. Through abiding in the Lord, I became enamored by God’s heart for service, that he is the humble servant King. And I want to be like him.” So you’ll know her a little better, Laura encourages women to abide in Christ by committing themselves to the word of God, prayer, and fellowship. Through her writing, small group studies, and one-on-one discipleship, she challenges friends to follow Christ wholeheartedly. She resides in Maryland with her husband and two little babes. On our first real episode of Literally Dying, I figured it was a good time to talk about first real death experiences. My guests Caitlin Lemaire, Keith Carey, Laura Hardin, and Rye Silverman all had very different things to say on the matter. I mean Caitlin LITERALLY died herself... I know I usually use that word incorrectly, so you might find it hard to trust me, but trust me. She did. Keith, as usual, says a bunch of stuff that makes me roll my eyes and worry about my family listening. Laura shares what it's like to watch parents talk to their kids about death at the mortuary. Spoiler: they're not great at it. And we meet Rye for the first time, who chimes in with a quick story about her dad. I also share some stories people submitted to me on Facebook, ramble on for too long about George Bell, and don't fully understand how to make the sound work properly. (PLEASE be patient with me, guys! I know the sound on this episode isn't awesome but we'll keep getting better. Don't let that turn you off!) Oh also, you will hear us say the word literally way too many times. #LiterallyDying #StateLines. State-Lines.com SPONSOR US! Since the inaugural episode of this show happens to fall just a couple days before Halloween, I figured why not talk about it? While I love Hocus Pocus and pumpkin spice like all good white women should - I freaking hate haunted houses. So my first guest Keith Carey and I dive into some of the science why he loves being scared and I hate it. I also share one of the most embarrassing stories from my teenage years. Spoilers: I end up breaking a bone. We also hear from three guests: Laura Hardin, Tom Goss, and Olivia Grace. They will all be featured again on future episodes but I wanted to share a glimpse what's to come and what Literally Dying will be like!
