Las Palmas were back to winning ways themselves blowing away Cultural Leonesa in Ruben de Barrera's second dugout debut at the club. Ruben Selles got the sack at Real Zaragoza, there was an Andalusian derbi, drama in the Basque country and much much more. Our guest Jennifer Barrera has been President and CEO of the California Chamber of Commerce since 2021. The venerable institution - founded in 1890 as the California State Board of Trade - advocates for pro-business policies and investments. Barrera is well known and well respected in the capitol community, and has been an effective messenger for the CalChamber's many causes, including reform of the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). Emigrar: salir de tu país o lugar de origen para vivir en otro. “Mi hermana emigró de Perú a Alemania.” Inmigrar: llegar a un país para instalarte en él. “Muchos estudiantes inmigran a España para hacer un máster.” Migrar: moverse de un lugar a otro, sin especificar si entras o sales. “La familia migró varias veces dentro del país.” Truco para recordar: INmigrar = INgresar EMigrar = EMpezar a salir 2. Verbos que acompañan el proceso Además de emigrar, hay muchos verbos que usamos para hablar del viaje emocional y práctico: Establecerse: instalarse de manera más permanente. “Se estableció en Lisboa después de varios años viajando.” Echar raíces: crear vínculos profundos con un lugar. “Después de una década en París, ya ha echado raíces allí.” Reagruparse: reunirse de nuevo con la familia después de migrar. “Pidió el visado de reagrupación familiar.” Adaptarse: acostumbrarse a una nueva cultura. “Adaptarse puede ser difícil al principio.” 3. Documentos y trámites fundamentales Aquí tienes vocabulario muy frecuente en noticias y conversaciones: Permiso de residencia Documento que autoriza a una persona a vivir legalmente en un país. “Después de un año trabajando, consiguió el permiso de residencia y pudo alquilar un piso a su nombre.” Permiso de trabajo Autorización para trabajar de forma legal en un país donde no se tiene nacionalidad. “Aún tenía que esperar unos meses para obtener el permiso de trabajo, así que no podía aceptar ninguna oferta laboral.” Visado Documento o sello que permite entrar o permanecer temporalmente en un país. “Solicitó un visado de estudiante para poder hacer un máster durante un año.” Nacionalización / naturalización Proceso mediante el cual una persona obtiene la nacionalidad de otro país. “Después de varios años residiendo legalmente, inició el proceso de naturalización para obtener la ciudadanía.” Solicitante de asilo Persona que pide protección internacional porque no puede volver a su país por motivos de seguridad. “Como solicitante de asilo, tenía derecho a un alojamiento temporal mientras esperaba la respuesta.” Refugiado Persona reconocida oficialmente como alguien que necesita protección internacional. “Una vez fue reconocido como refugiado, pudo acceder a programas de integración y apoyo social.” 4. Expresiones muy usadas cuando se habla de emigración “Buscarse la vida” Significa arreglárselas solo, sobrevivir, encontrar oportunidades. “Se fue a otro país para buscarse la vida.” “Hacer las maletas” Literal, pero también figurado: prepararse para marcharse. “En cuanto encontró trabajo, hizo las maletas.” “Empezar desde cero” Comenzar una nueva vida sin contactos, sin red, sin recursos. “Al emigrar, muchos tienen que empezar desde cero.” “Echar de menos” Sentir nostalgia por algo o alguien. “Echa de menos su ciudad, pero está feliz con su nueva vida.” “Ser de aquí y de allí” Expresión que describe tener identidad múltiple. “Después de tantos años fuera, se siente de aquí y de allí.” 5. Conceptos emocionales importantes Ahora vamos a ver cinco palabras que describen muy bien la experiencia emocional de una persona migrante. Nostalgia La nostalgia es una mezcla de tristeza y cariño cuando recordamos algo del pasado que echamos de menos. “Cuando escucha música de su país, siente mucha nostalgia.” Choque cultural El choque cultural es la sensación de extrañeza o confusión ante costumbres muy diferentes a las propias. “Tuvo un choque cultural al ver que la gente cenaba tan temprano.” Barrera del idioma La barrera del idioma es la dificultad para comunicarse cuando no dominamos la lengua del país. “La barrera del idioma le complicaba hacer nuevos amigos.” Integración La integración es el proceso de participar plenamente en la vida del nuevo país. “La integración fue más fácil cuando empezó a trabajar con gente local.” Sentido de pertenencia El sentido de pertenencia es la sensación de que ese nuevo lugar también es tu hogar. “Con el tiempo, desarrolló un fuerte sentido de pertenencia.”Escucha este episodio completo y accede a todo el contenido exclusivo de Se Habla Español.
