In this GoMission episode, Mark Gillmore interviews Canadian church planter Will Esayenko, whose story traces a dramatic path from resisting God's call to embracing a life of gospel multiplication. Will shares how he ran toward comfort, career, and security—until God used a late-night car accident to shatter his trajectory and bring him back to the call he'd received as a child. Today, he is planting and multiplying churches across the Yellowhead region of Alberta, driven by a simple conviction: when you abide in Christ, He leads you into the work He wants to reproduce.Topics DiscussedGrowing up in a Christian home and being saved youngReceiving a clear call to ministry as a childChoosing a career path over surrender in his teen yearsThe car accident that exposed the emptiness of living for thingsHow Bible school clarified God's call and burden for CanadaRestarting a struggling church in Hinton, AlbertaPlanting a second church and embracing multiplicationSending out your best people and the cost that comes with itFinding identity in Christ instead of success metricsAbiding in the Shepherd as the core of guidance and courageTraining hesitant men for ministry and pushing them forwardWalking with Christ through uncertainty and lossKey TakeawaysRunning from God's call never brings peace; God has ways of turning you around.Real guidance begins with a clean heart and an abiding walk with the Shepherd. You don't need your future perfectly mapped to step into obedience today.Multiplication always costs something, but sending is the pathway to greater fruit.Your identity must rest in Christ rather than ministry success or comparison.God uses surrendered people to reach entire regions, not just individual churches.Do you have a story of gospel advance or a burden for a specific people group? How do we live out the Christian life as Jesus intended? In this four-part series on the command to receive God's power, we explore Jesus' call to “tarry… until ye be endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). We begin by uncovering our absolute need for the Holy Spirit—not only to begin the Christian life, but to sustain and empower it every day. Through rich Scripture, personal stories, and practical application, we examine what it means to walk in the Spirit, how to abide in His power, what grieves or quenches Him, and the vital ministries He performs in our lives. From salvation to sanctification, from surrender to fruitfulness, this series invites us to live not in our own strength, but in the power of Christ dwelling in us. When we truly depend on Him, He transforms our lives, equips our witness, and glorifies Himself through us.Are we daily depending on the Spirit of God, or are we still trying to live the Christian life in our own strength? Have we fully surrendered every area of our heart to the Lord, letting Him fill us completely? In this rich and practical reflection on Luke 24:49, we come face to face with the essential truth that the Christian life cannot be lived apart from the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus' command to “tarry… until ye be endued with power from on high” invites us to a life of continual dependence, surrender, and intimacy with God. Receiving His power begins at salvation—when we are born of the Spirit—but it continues as a daily walk of being filled, sanctified, and led by Him. The Holy Spirit, both Holy and wholly consuming, moves into every area of our lives, cleansing, empowering, and conforming us into the likeness of Christ. We cannot overcome sin, bear fruit, or fulfill God's commands by striving in our own ability; instead, we yield to His presence, abide in His Word, and walk in surrendered obedience. As we empty ourselves of self-sufficiency and acknowledge our deep need, the rivers of His Spirit rush in—bringing life, power, and fruitfulness. Christ is not just our example—He is our life. And when we truly grasp that He does the work in and through us, we find freedom, joy, and strength to walk out the life He's called us to live. Let us stay in that place of dependence and surrender, continually receiving His power, that we may be vessels through which Christ is glorified.

Are we walking in the power of the Spirit, or still striving in our own strength? As we continue meditating on Jesus' command to “tarry… until ye be endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49), we see that the power of the Holy Spirit flows first from a right relationship with God—through being born again. This promise of the Father, long foretold by the prophets, is fulfilled through the finished work of Christ: His death, resurrection, ascension, and exaltation. From that place of completed redemption, Jesus now pours out His Spirit upon those who are His. We, like the disciples, are called to respond in simple, trusting obedience—to wait on the Lord, to gather in unity with His people, and to seek Him in prayer. Their obedience led to an outpouring of God's presence and power that transformed them from fearful followers into bold proclaimers of the gospel, bearing fruit for the Kingdom. We are reminded that spiritual fruitfulness does not come from striving but from abiding—yielding ourselves to the Spirit's filling, that Christ might live His life in and through us. As children of God, we are not only called to obedience but also empowered for it, through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Let us remain in Him, united in purpose, dependent in prayer, and confident in His power to do what we never could on our own.

Have we taken time to tarry before the Lord, to receive His enabling presence? As we come to the close of Jesus' earthly ministry, we are drawn to His clear command to His disciples: “Tarry... until ye be endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). This call to wait—to be still before going—reveals a cornerstone truth of the Christian life: we cannot live out the commands of Christ without the empowering of His Spirit. Jesus had shown them the way, given them the Word, but He knew they couldn't walk in it unless He Himself lived it out through them. This promise of the Father—the indwelling and continual filling of the Holy Spirit—is the fulfillment of ancient prophecy and the foundation of every believer's strength. As we receive His Spirit, He not only opens our eyes to the Scriptures (Luke 24:45), but also works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Phil. 2:13). We are reminded that apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5), but with Him, we are clothed with divine power—dunamis—the very breath and force of God, enabling us to live the life to which we've been called. Let us confess our utter need, wait on Him, and allow Christ to do in us what we could never do alone. “I can't—but You never said I could. You can—and You always said You would.”

In this stirring lesson, Brother Singh reminds us that abiding in Christ is not measured by gifts, emotions, or outward success, but by the quiet fruit of a transformed life. True discipleship is attested through obedience, humility, and the love that reflects the very nature of Christ. Paul referred to these qualities as the Fruit of the Spirit.

We live in a world full of labels. Whether given by family, friends, enemies, or even our own inner critic, these labels are too small to capture the beauty and dignity of who we really are.In this message, "he Me God Wants Me To Be," Pastor Mark explores what it means to live out your true identity: not the false self shaped by performance, politics, or people-pleasing, but the name God writes on your heart. Scripture reminds us that we are created in God's image and called His beloved children. That identity is not achieved but received—and it changes everything.Discover how to:• Receive the identity God has already given you in Christ• Abide in Jesus so His life flows through you• Respond with everyday acts of love and justiceWhen we tear off the old labels and remain rooted in Christ, we become “the me God wants me to be.”
“When we make following Him our one thing to do each day, God takes care of the rest. I don't know about you, but abiding in Christ is increasingly all I want these days…” This week's sermon is up! Thanks Sally and our band for helping in my solo at the end and the Holy Spirit inspiring the church to join. Bless you friends. Have a great week!
In John 15, we encounter the profound metaphor of Jesus as the True Vine, inviting us to 'abide' in Him. This powerful imagery challenges us to examine our spiritual connection and fruitfulness. Are we truly rooted in Christ? The passage reminds us that our ability to bear fruit isn't automatic – it requires intentional effort and a deep, abiding relationship with Jesus. Just as a vine dresser prunes branches for greater yield, God may 'cut back' areas of our lives that aren't productive. This process, while sometimes uncomfortable, ultimately leads to greater spiritual growth and impact. As we reflect on this, let's consider: What areas of our lives might God be pruning? How can we more fully abide in Christ, allowing His life-giving power to flow through us and produce abundant fruit? This Sunday, we studied the call of Jesus in John 15:1-17 to abide in him. The Lord says these words in John 15:9, “As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Abide in my love.” One of the great challenges that we continually face as Christians is not drifting carelessly from a deep, abiding relationship with Jesus Christ. MariAnne and I were just in Florida with three of our grandchildren. One day, we were at the beach and we were all in the water when suddenly there were flashing lights and sirens. A rescue jeep went flying past on the sand. A rescue boat with flashing lights when flying past us in the water. They were headed to a location about a quarter mile down from us. Someone was in distress. One of the common things that happens down there, or relatively common, is that people get caught in riptides. They are playing in the water, having fun, and then suddenly they realize that they have been and are being pulled out into the deep. Drifting into spiritual danger is a constant for every Christian. Growing in grace takes conscientious intentionality. Christ's call to abide in Him is crucial for every believer. As we head into all the busyness of the Fall season, I think this will be an incredibly helpful passage as we begin to wrap up our summer series on the biblical doctrine of God's love. Pray that God might meet all of us powerfully this week. See you Sunday at 9 or 11 a.m.
When Jesus is dwelling in us and we are abiding in Him as our source for Godly living the result is worth it.

Genuine Christianity is a day-by-day decision to remain attached to Jesus, to agree with Him, and to seek a bond or union with Him deliberately. That bond with God begins at our spiritual birth, the moment of belief, a place where we are not meant to stay. This is the final message in the four-part series, "Rooted." Church Elder Mike Adkins concludes the series with a sermon titled "Abiding in Christ."
Jesus spoke frequently about abiding in Him. Constantly praying, listening, and obeying is how we best abide and experience a fruitful life. When I speak in public, I have often experienced the fruitfulness of abiding. That's because I'm often seeking God fervently and following His lead. As I speak, I have often felt the Holy ... Send us a textIn this final episode of our three-part series The Real Thing, we talk about something we often resist—God's holy disruptions. Using the story of Zacchaeus, we explore how Jesus didn't just stop by for a visit, but invited him into something lasting. The word used is meno—to abide—and it changes everything. This wasn't about tweaking a few behaviors; it was an invitation to step out of hiding and into real relationship. This was a difficult conversation to have. We share honestly about the struggle of letting go of control and embracing God's interruptions, including a tender story about a dog named Sevy. From the bleeding woman to Saul's blinding light, we reflect on how Jesus often disrupts before He restores. In our busy lives, we often lose sight of what truly matters—bearing fruit for God rather than simply staying busy. John 14:21 teaches that love for God manifests in love for others. While we may engage in good activities, we must ensure they fulfill God's purpose. Ray, E.Z., Mark, and Oscar discuss how easy it is to mistake productivity for fruitfulness, just as Martha was consumed with tasks while Mary chose to abide with Jesus. God is the vine, and we are the branches. True fruitfulness comes from abiding in Him, not just from doing His work. If our efforts lead to stress, pride, or anxiety, we are likely not growing spiritually. Many people are so caught up in ministry or service that they neglect their relationship with God. This is dangerous because it shifts our focus from Him to our own efforts.Busyness is often celebrated in today's culture, but scripture warns that it can be a distraction. Rest should not merely serve to improve our productivity; it should be a time to abide in God. We must ensure that our actions are motivated by love. Without love, our best efforts are meaningless. Love, at its core, is genuine care for God and others. True fruitfulness should be an effortless outcome of abiding in Christ. As we grow in our relationship with Him, we should be moved by the fruits of the Spirit to share the gospel. Our love for God deepens as we understand His love for us.God works so we can rest, and resting is an act of defiance against the false gods of busyness and self-reliance. Jesus left His throne to bring us into His kingdom, calling us to be faithful rather than to strive for immediate fruitfulness. God knows what we need and what is best for us. When raising children, we must ask whether we are teaching them to be busy or to be fruitful. Too often, we are simply in survival mode rather than guiding them to abide in Christ. Resting in the Lord allows us to slow down and reflect on His will. Service without seeking the Lord is harmful. Colossians 1:10 teaches that true fruitfulness comes from increasing in our knowledge of God. To walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, we must devote ourselves to knowing His heart.Abiding in Christ requires time. Like any relationship, our connection with God deepens when we invest in it. Never approach ministry or service without first communing with Jesus. Fruitfulness cannot exist apart from truth, and it cannot be separated from Christ. Ultimately, our goal is not to achieve visible results but to remain faithful, trusting that God will bring about the fruit in His perfect timing.Send us a textThanks for listening! Ray, E.Z., Mark, and Oscar discuss how in our busy lives, it's easy to mistake productivity for true fruitfulness, but Scripture teaches that abiding in Christ is what truly matters. As John 14:21 reminds us, love for God is reflected in love for others, and our actions should be rooted in His purpose rather than mere busyness. Just as Martha was consumed with tasks while Mary chose to sit with Jesus, we must prioritize our relationship with God over constant activity. While today's culture celebrates busyness, Scripture warns that it can be a distraction, and true rest should be a time to abide in God, not just recharge for more work. Without love, our efforts are meaningless, and true fruitfulness should be the natural outcome of a deep relationship with Christ. God calls us to faithfulness rather than immediate results, and when we prioritize abiding in Him, He brings forth the fruit in His perfect timing. Resting in the Lord allows us to slow down, reflect on His will, and teach our children to seek fruitfulness rather than mere busyness.
