Lynn Casper is a certified life coach and has been a podcast host for almost ten years! When the pandemic hit, Casper missed the simple connection of just sitting down in a coffee shop to get some work done. Lynn decided to make an online atmosphere for the queer community to come work together in an open environment. Casper and I discuss their journey as a podcast host and how they have kept the passion for their work for ten years. We discuss how the pandemic has affected all of our lives and how modern technology has really been such a light during these times. We also discuss Casper's new job working for radio, and how we think radio and podcasting will adapt in the future.  Be sure to check out Casper's websites: http://lynncasper.com/  Homoground Podcast: https://homoground.com/ Don't forget to subscribe to this podcast for weekly episodes, and follow me on Instagram @realmelissadasilva

"These communities feel magical, but they don't come together by magic. Someone has to take the first step. " - Kevin Huynh This is a special episode. Today I'm interviewing our very own Kevin Christopher Huynh aka "Coach Kevin." Kevin's my co-host, biz partner, bud, and one of the most admirable, fun souls I've met on this planet called Earth. We're talking to Kevin today about his coaching. Nearly every work day for the last month and a half, Kevin has taken at least one coaching meeting with a nascent community leader. In total he's had 3 conversations in 35 work days, and he's now totally booked through March. (If you want to book a session, reach out here!) These are not hypothetical communities. These are real groups of people who are actively getting together. We're talking about people like → Krystie, Kat, Kasey from Slant'd Media - an Asian-American media company that gets writers, photographer contributors brought into the fold and hosts events. Kyle from Innerglow - one of the most diverse meditation communities in New York City. Lynn from Homoground - the longest-running queer music podcast with an engaged community of listeners, many of whom don't have access to a queer community near them. I ask Kevin about what he learned from all these conversations. It'll just be us chatting. If you want to read more of his insights, you can check out his post on research.people-and.com.

Lynn Casper, curator of queer indie music and founder/producer of Homoground, joins us to dyke out about how her popular and longstanding internet-radio-show-turned-podcast came to be. What’s different about music made by queer musicians? How has music by queer musicians changed and evolved over the years? Who should you be adding to your Spotify playlist right now? We recorded this episode before Carolyn left for vacation, when there was a chance she was walking into a parent trap situation and New York was on a mission to turn us all into puddles of sweat. Plus, learn Sarah’s ramen hack and wax nostalgic with us about Nickelodeon in the 90s. One last note, the show Carolyn plugged on Friday, July 27 is CANCELLED. So don’t show up at Under St. Marks that night…or do if you like surprises! -Keep the podcast a-lez and gay by donating to our Patreon, where you can get some sapphic swag. -For related content, follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Leave Us a Review if you like what you hear!
