Coach Kevin Hickey, Today we are talking to Coach Kevin Hickey. Coach Hickey is currently an assistant coach for Coach Scott Sorenson at Northland College. Coach Sorenson has been the leader of this D3 college in Wisconsin for the past 11 seasons. I met Coach Kevin during my last year working for Coach Rob Murphy at Eastern Michigan. I was blown away with his story. As we all know, life happens. And, Kevin is a great example of this. He started his college education at Bowling Green University. At BG, Coach Kevin was both a student assistant coach and video coordinator for Coach Louis Orr. Life happened and Coach Kevin left college to tend to his mother, who was having some health issues. In the meantime, Coach Kevin would then go to work for Coach Jimmy Reddy at Canton High School. Coach Kevin would assist Coach Reddy and coach the freshman and JV teams at Canton. Making the decision to return to college, Kevin enrolled at Eastern Michigan. He finished his degree as a student assistant coach with the EMU Men's program. After graduating from EMU, Coach Kevin was hired by Coach Ricky Yahn at Concordia University. After gaining incredible experience working for Coach Ricky, he was hired by Coach Scott this past summer. Coach Kevin is in year one with the Northland College men's basketball program. If you are a coach, who has been told numerous times that you can't be a college coach - for numerous reasons - then, this is a conversation for you. Coach Kevin's story will INSPIRE you to continue to chase your dreams. Follow Coach Kevin Hickey @coach_khickeyFollow Tell Me Your Story Coach @CoachKevinDro

Throughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. The Ohio State Buckeyes women's basketball team set a high bar when scheduling their season tip-off. Head coach Kevin McGuff and the Scarlet & Gray faced a No. 5 ranked Tennessee Volunteers side featuring three players who are in the conversation for Naismith Player of the Year. What happened was a game of two halves, with the Buckeyes trying to hang in with the SEC side in the first half, but going on an 18-point run in their 87-75 victory. After the game, guard Taylor Mikesell, forward Cotie McMahon and Coach McGuff spoke with the media. Uncut shares everything they said following the big win. Mikesell discusses how it was defense that kept the team in the game, and how special it felt having fan support culminating in students in attendance storming the court following the final buzzer. McMahon talks about getting over the nerves in her first NCAA game, the officiating she believes Ohio State receives and how the seniors and more experienced players worked with her to help make Tuesday's win possible. Also, McGuff discusses poor shooting, the defense that kept them in the game, the special talent of Jacy Sheldon's defense on the night and looking ahead to Boston College on Sunday. Not all strength training is the same; lifting a barbell is different than swinging a kettlebell and using a set of dumbbells provides a completely different workout than using a machine. To make sure that you are doing the best exercises and workouts for your goals, you should first have an understanding of how the human body is designed to move and the different ways that it can be challenged with exercise. Kevin Carr is a Boston-based performance coach, educator, massage therapist, author and a co-creator of the Functional Strength Coach Certification that teaches how to design strength-training programs for the way the body is designed to move. Coach Carr works with Coach Mike Boyle, the founder of Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning, a facility that helps individuals from professional athletes to septuagenarian grandmothers improve their ability to perform their favorite activities (Coach Boyle has helped the Boston Red Sox and Boston University Men's Hockey win the World Series and National Championship, so they know what they're doing) and that has been recognized by Men's Health as one of the top gyms in the U.S. Kevin is also the co-author of Functional Strength Training Anatomy, a book that explains how to strengthen your body by using the muscle the way they are designed to work. On this episode, Kevin talks about the difference between bodybuilding and performance training and why you should be doing the latter instead of the former. In addition, he shares how some of your muscles actually function (not the way you think) and the types of exercises that you should be doing to help them become stronger so that you can perform your best. It's all about how to improve your ability to move on this episode of All About Fitness. Browns HC Stefanski: Yelling in Locker Room After Loss to Ravens Is 'Normal Football' Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski downplayed the significance of his team's reaction to a 23-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. According to multiple reports, there was audible yelling coming from Cleveland's locker room. Stefanski chalked it up as "normal football."Browns star Myles Garrett added it reflected how badly the players wanted to win the game: The Browns have now dropped four in a row and sit last in the AFC North at 2-5. Exacerbating the team's frustration, four of its five losses have come by three points or fewer. The circumstances of Sunday's defeat left plenty of fans asking questions of the officiating crew. Cade York had an opportunity to tie the game on a 55-yard field goal with 2:09 left. However, a false start penalty moved the offense back five yards, and York's 60-yard attempt was blocked. What led to the flag wasn't clear to the naked eye. That sums up Cleveland's luck at the moment. The Browns outgained Baltimore 336-254 and averaged two more yards per play. The defense sacked Lamar Jackson three times and held him to 120 passing yards on 16 attempts. Still, it wasn't enough for Stefanski's squad to come out on the winning end. Attempting to make anything of the response inside the Browns' locker room feels like an exercise in confirmation bias. If you remain bullish on Cleveland, then it's an example of how much the players care and how focused they'll be heading into Week 8. If you're less enthusiastic about the team, it shows how the franchise is spiraling further toward dysfunction. Regardless of where you sit on that spectrum, the hard truth is that losing to the Cincinnati Bengals to slip to 2-6 heading into their Week 9 bye would be a significant blow to the Browns' playoff hopes.
