His books have been published in English, Spanish, and Catalan. In 1999, Matthew won the Andromina Award for Ella ve quan vol, a collection of short stories in Catalan which went into a second edition. Born in London, Matthew has held a variety of jobs that make his writing authentic: yard sweeper, bus clerk, distributor of leaflets, translator, voiceover actor, English teacher, building site cleaner, poster shop assistant, and anarchist bookstore clerk. Before he emigrated to Barcelona 40 years ago, he taught himself Catalan. He currently lives between Barcelona and the lakeside town of Banyoles.
