If you've ever sat at a well check, brought up a concern about your toddler, and been told to just "wait and see"... this episode is for YOU.Allison is a pediatric physical therapist (and a mom of four who had four kids in five and a half years, so she GETS it), and she is breaking down exactly what your 12 to 24 month old should be doing, when, and how to tell the difference between a kid developing on their own timeline and an actual red flag worth chasing down. But the part that gave me chills? Her reminder that YOU are the team leader for your child. Not the pediatrician, not the PT, not the preschool teacher, YOU. And that your mother's intuition and even your "I know I shouldn't compare but..." observations are not something to feel guilty about. They're information. In this episode, we talk about:The real timeline for walking (and why your baby probably won't walk by their first birthday)What to look for from 18 months to 2 years: running, climbing, standing from the middle of the room, fine motor skillsThe ONE milestone that's a definite, non-negotiable age (hint: it's jumping)Why milestones are "like math" and build on each otherHow to tell a developmental timeline difference from a true red flagThe "wait and see" problem, and when NOT to waitWhy you are the team leader for your childWhy comparing your child to others isn't something to feel guilty aboutSimple, cheap at home activities to jumpstart development Everyday "klutzy" struggles that can actually point to body awareness challengesProprioception and the vestibular system explained in a way that finally makes senseSensory seeking vs. sensory avoiding, and what's totally normalHow to make accommodations for a sensitive kid while still giving exposureThe SINGLE most important thing you can do in this window----------------------------------------------------------------------------IMPORTANT LINKS•✨ Join our Mom Club on Patreon HERE ✨

Michael: If we hire Cirque du Soleil as salaried employees, will that help us with the year-end tax stuff? Dwight: I think he hung up. David: …No Plan your anniversary party and grab a C-shaped bagel—this week we're talking about New Boss! We dedicate this episode to this season 5 classic, the first appearance of Charles Miner and the only appearance of Jim in a tuxedo. We go through the different storylines and discuss how Charles impacts the branch. And of course we mention all of the dress code memos, fake kidnappings, and two-way petting zoos that go into this episode. Then we head to the Conference Room for a quick Ordinary Things segment where we talk about the World Cup, formalwear, old video games, and a whole lot more! The thing about classy is it's a state of mind.
Al and Kevin are back for episode 137! Tune is as they kick the sad sorry sacks of the Lawn, ponder the loaded question, and continue on with The Mission. The post TOTS Pod 137 appeared first on Shining Wizards Network.

Navigating the world of tethered oral tissues (TOTs) can often feel like wading through murky waters. With so much conflicting information out there, it's incredibly easy for clinicians to fall into the trap of letting a visual anatomical structure dictate their entire treatment plan. But looking at a tongue or lip tie doesn't tell you the whole story. In this solo episode, Hallie Bulkin dives deep into the complexities of diagnosing and treating tethered oral tissues during feeding evaluations. She pulls back the curtain on why presence does not automatically equal cause, and why a systematic, function-first approach is the only way to truly help your pediatric patients.Whether you are feeling the pressure from families to provide quick answers or trying to differentiate between a primary and secondary driver of a feeding challenge, this episode is a crucial masterclass in clinical decision-making. Tune in to learn how to move past the anatomy trap and build ultimate confidence in your functional assessments.Key Topics & TakeawaysThe Murky Waters of TOTs: Why diagnosing and treating tethered oral tissues has become a clinical minefield, and how to navigate it safely.Presence vs. Cause: A critical reminder that just because an anatomical tie exists does not mean it is the primary driver of the family's feeding struggles.Common Clinical Traps: How relying solely on visual anatomy can lead to incomplete treatment plans and poor patient outcomes. The Function-First Framework: Why evaluating dynamic feeding function is the only way to give structural anatomy its true meaning.Primary vs. Secondary Drivers: Learn how to decipher when a tie is the root cause of a feeding issue versus when it is simply an incidental finding.Soundbites"Don't let anatomy lead your feeding plan.""Presence does not equal cause.""Feeding function gives anatomy its true meaning."Timestamps00:00 – Introduction to Tethered Oral Tissues and clinical challenges.01:24 – The murky waters of diagnosis and the role of anatomy.02:32 – Understanding feeding challenges as multifactorial.03:02 – Limitations of relying solely on anatomy.04:22 – Common clinical traps in tethered oral tissue cases (Traps 1 & 2).05:11 – Trap No. 3: Treating the restriction instead of the feeding pattern.07:13 – Trap No. 4: Skipping a full feeding assessment because the tie feels explanatory.07:50 – Pressure to provide quick answers and the importance of function.08:15 – Shifting focus to feeding function over anatomy.09:21 – Feeding function as the key to meaningful anatomy interpretation.10:00 – Primary vs. secondary drivers of feeding difficulties.11:50 – When ties are incidental and not the main issue.12:10 – Assessing functional impact and developing confidence.13:30 – The value of structured feeding assessment training.14:37 – Empowering clinicians with feeding function knowledge & final wrap-up.Links & ResourcesDive deeper with Tongue Tie BootcampWORTH A LISTEN: CONTINUE YOUR JOURNEYEpisode 348: Tongue Ties, Sleep Apnea & More: The Patient-Centered Approach to Airway DentistryEpisode 363: Tongue Ties, Oral Habits & the Future of Airway HealthSTAY CONNECTED & GROW YOUR PRACTICE

"I am taking a calculated risk. What's the upside? I overcome my nausea, fall deeply in love, babies, normalcy, no more self loathing. Downside? I, uh, date Michael Scott publicly and collapse in on myself like a dying star.” Change your shirt, you dressed exactly like the servants—this week we're talking about Cocktails! We dedicate this week's episode to this classic from season 3, complete with drinking games, magic tricks, and Michael's “homemade” potato salad. We talk through the storylines at David Wallace's house and at Poor Richard's. And best believe we mention all of the love contracts, ketchup fights, and chimney inspections along the way. Then we head to the Conference Room where we discuss the NBA playoffs, Hacks, The Boys, and a whole lot more!Separately, on an unrelated note, if you happen to find a small brass key...
