Sidney Hall is a contemplative baker, living into the wisdom traditions of Tantra and Vedanta. She uses her baking practice as a sacred container for the cultivation of joy, creative flow, and service in making nutrient-dense baked goods. When she is not inhabiting the duties of kitchen witch, she is delighting in the sacred union of marriage with her husband and momming two bright wild beings, as well as serving as a functional health coach. Sidney is one of my favorite humans and our sisterhood is one of my most cherished. This conversation is reminiscent of one of our riverside chats. In this episode, we discuss: - What brought Sidney to baking as a contemplative practice and how she arrived at naming her business Moon Maiden's Delights - What baking as a contemplative practice looks and feels like for Sidney - Food as prayer, how Sidney sees cooking and nourishing herself, her family, friends, and clients as prayer, and what this looks like in her life and work - How eating healthy is a privilege and what we can do to nourish ourselves with the resources we have - Sidney shares with us what her last meal on earth would be, painting the scene and really taking us there - Sidney also reads several beautiful pieces of poetry and prayer during this episode Sidney's website Sidney's Instagram Sidney's functional health coaching work and her partner Ryan's functional, evolutionary medicine Kim Kran's new Alchemy Deck Donate to the A Wave Away podcast Join my email list/newsletter My website My Instagram Episode website

In this spiritual nugget, on the one year anniversary of when we started doing church solely online, Pastor Colby shares how the practice of Connection nourishes our soul. Just like in life, marriage go through transitional periods. Amanda's devotional is like having a marriage map, it will help set the course. We do not know our future, but it is better to have a plan on how we can handle future obstacles

If you’re married…if you’re not married, but want to be…if you’re not married, never want to be, but have married friends you want to love well, this show is for YOU! Amanda Davison is the wife to a Minnesota farmer, mother of three, and President of the nonprofit, A Wife Like Me. She is the co-author of Dear Wife: 10 Minute Invitations to Practice Connection with Your Husband, speaker, and serves on staff at her local church, where she and her husband lead the marriage mentor team. Former psychology professor, Amanda is now relentlessly sharing how her education in counseling and God’s word changed her life and marriage. Amanda starts out by sharing her own story of working toward her degree in counseling, wanting to help others in their marital relationships and realizing that her own was falling apart. She tells us that not until she fully surrendered her heart to Jesus was her marriage able to be transformed. We continue the conversation talking about how to have strong, healthy communication. Amanda tells us that we have to take a look at our heart issues before we’re going to be able to have good communication and she gives some things to look for in ourselves. We also talk about how to address an issue that keeps coming up over and over again in your marriage, and how to have fun together. Amanda says that we can’t love our husbands better on our own. It’s not about trying harder. We can’t. It’s about focusing on Jesus. His love will cause us to love our husbands more. She says, “the more we are making it a priority to be with Jesus, the more our marriages will thrive.” MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE A Wife Like Me 4 Reasons Couples Experience Destructive Communication Five A’s to Healthy Communication Intimacy Conversation Guide A Wife Like Me Gathering Dear Wife Book AMANDA’S FAVORITE 5 All Things Pumpkin Breakthrough by Red Rocks Worship Old Things New Socks Laughing CONNECT WITH AMANDA Instagram | Facebook | Website CONNECT WITH GIRLS TALKING LIFE Show Notes for this Episode | Instagram | Facebook
