Gather In - stories of conversion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Russ was a fascinating interviewee, and very patient with the technical difficulties I encountered! He is a wonderful story teller and has many stories to tell. I hope this episode provides an insight into life in Salt Lake City, where Russ grew up as a next door neighbour to Gordon B. Hinckley, former president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For older couples, I also hope you might be inspired to want to serve as a senior missionaries. Brother Osguthorpe, currently serves as a Sealer in the Provo Temple. He and his wife Lolly recently served as senior missionaries at BYU-H, they served as President and Matron of the Bismarck North Dakota Temple, he is a former General Sunday School President, and Area Seventy. The Osguthorpes served as mission leaders in South Dakota Rapid City. They are both former members of the Tabernacle Choir. Prior to full-time Church service Russ was Professor of Instructional Psychology at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He is the author of a number of books. He is also the host of the Filled With His Love podcast.
Russell T. Osguthorpe, PhD - Retired professor, Instructional Psychology and Technology, and administrator, Brigham Young University; former mission president, area seventy, and Sunday School General President for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints “The Lord is helping us understand that learning is not a side interest. Learning is not something that we kind of include in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It's central. How can we develop as a people if we do not learn? It is right in the middle of everything.”
Brother Osguthorpe speaks on how love can be the greatest source of strength and a powerful motive as we follow the example of Christ and reach out. Support the show: https://ldsp-pay.ldschurch.org/donations/byu/byu-speeches.html See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
