Psalm 36
This week in worship, Paul reminds us that we are called “beloved” before we ever prove ourselves worthy. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us, revealing a love that does not wait for perfection. That unconditional grace gives us peace with God and sustains us through suffering, shaping perseverance and hope within us. Do we show that same unconditional love to others, or do we treat love like a fragile contract that is easily voided?
Welcome to the audio podcast for Dogwood Church in Athens, TX.
God love for us began before we were even born even before the foundation of the world. God has also plan certain event to take place in our lives to bring us closer to him events that were recorded in a book he keeps on us before we were ever born. Ps 57:10 tells us that God has unfailing love for everyone of us, agape love the started with him giving his only begotten Son in order to reconcile us with himself so we could have an intimate relationship with him. God love for us never changes, he is gracious and merciful toward us slow to anger filled with unfailing love for us, nothing can separate us from his love for us. We are never alone he is with us in every storm we will face, the closer we get to him the more we will realise how wide, how long, and how deep his love is for us. God protects us from many dangers and his love even extend to cover our children and our children children.
We are called to love—and love looks like action. As the Church, as those who represent Jesus to the world around us, love is what we are meant to be known for. In this message, Gabe Valenzuela unpacks what it truly means to love the way God has called us to love. What does loving our neighbor look like in a practical, everyday sense? How does Scripture define and demonstrate the kind of love we are invited to embody? This teaching is both an encouragement and a charge—an invitation to move beyond sentiment and into lived expression. As followers of Christ, we are called not only to carry the love of God within us, but to intentionally release it into our homes, workplaces, and communities. Our prayer is that this message deepens your understanding of biblical love and empowers you to reflect Jesus more fully in the way you live.
Today's Episode will cover the true definition of hate and how it impacts the lives of Believers. What matters more than the hatred from others is the LOVE that comes from GOD. May you be encouraged that a world full of hate could never overshadow the TRUE LOVE OF GOD! Be encouraged you've got this and JESUS has you! #KeepGoing #GoForth #JESUSgirlENT Scripture Reference: John 15/ Genesis 37 /Esther 3-7/luke 16:19-3 The link referenced during teaching is found here: https://firmisrael.org/learn/jacob-loved-esau-hated-hebrew-word-hate/ (firmisrael.org)‘Endurance': Based on the description "to stand under and get behind," the Greek word that best fits is hupotassō (or hypotasso, ὑποτάσσω). Here is the breakdown of the word:Hupo (ὑπό): A prefix meaning "under" or "beneath".Tassō (τάσσω): A verb meaning "to arrange, set in order, or assign". Key Aspects of Hupotassō:Military Origin: It was used to describe soldiers arranging themselves in formation under a leader.Meaning: It signifies a willing, voluntary "getting behind" (submitting to) an authority, rather than just forced obedience. It often means to voluntarily submit or put oneself under the authority of another.Related Concept - Endurance: If the intent is "to remain/stand under" a heavy load or trial, the term hupomenō (ὑπομένω, "endure/remain under") is also used. Other related words for context:Hupostasis (ὑπόστασις): "To stand under" in the sense of a foundation, substance, or assurance.Opisthen (ὄπισθεν): "Behind" or "at the rear".
The sermon centers on the profound, unmerited, and transformative love of God, presented not as a sentimental notion but as a foundational, active, and eternal attribute that defines God's nature and drives His redemptive work. Drawing from key Scriptures such as John 3:16, Romans 5:5, and 1 John 4:16, it emphasizes that God's love is not reactive to human goodness, nor transactional, but a sovereign, poured-out, and ongoing reality made possible through the Holy Spirit and the sacrificial death of Christ. The message warns against the dangers of spiritual indifference, lukewarmness, and theological distortion, urging believers to rediscover the depth of God's love as the source of joy, obedience, and holy passion. It calls for a heartfelt response—marked by gratitude, repentance, a growing hatred for sin, and a fervent pursuit of God—while affirming that true love for God naturally overflows into love for others, fulfilling the commandment of Christ. Ultimately, the sermon presents God's love as the very foundation of the Christian life, demanding not mere intellectual assent but a life transformed by its power.

I had a blast at the For the Love of God Brunch, hosted by Desiree Brown and I! I had the honor of speaking on the topic “God First.” This message aligns deeply with my book, God First, which is truly for everyone. I want to share a quick story — I have a cousin who told me she read my book, Walk With Me, and was waiting to talk with me before reading God First. She said, “I know you're a Christian, and I know your heart — you love others. Is the book for everyone?” I told her yes, and encouraged her to read it, and then we would chat. A few months later, we spoke again, and she said, “I read the book, and now I understand — it truly is for everyone.” Always remember to keep the faith and keep going! Thank you all for your continued support — I truly appreciate each of you!

Our Good News story for this week is one that shows up in one form or another in each of the four Gospels, a rarity to be sure. Luke's version tells it this way: an unnamed woman, known to be a "sinner," crashes a dinner party at a Pharisee's house to wash Jesus' feet with her tears, dry them with her hair, and anoint them with costly perfume. It's an intimate, extravagant, uncomfortable act...much, actually, like God's love for us. And in a wonderful flip, also the way we are to love others. It's a lot to consider in Lent, but we have 40 days...so let's dive in.
Take heart. If you have faith in Jesus, God himself declares, “You are greatly loved.”
Steadfast Love of God (Psalm 136:1-4) by Josiah Graves
Gifts are not the goal. They are partial. They are temporary. They are imperfect. We must never boast in spiritual gifts. Our boast is in Christ—the embodiment of love. He is the “perfect” who has come and who will come again. One day faith will become sight. Hope will be fulfilled. But love—love remains. In verses 4–7, love is personified. Love acts in patience. Love moves in kindness. Love endures. Love refuses envy and pride. Put your own name in place of “love,” and the verdict is humbling. We do not measure up. Put Jesus' name there—and every line rings true. This is teaching on the gifts with gospel fluency. We do not meet the standard of agape. We do not embody hesed (God's covenant love) on our own—Christ does. And He fulfilled that love in our place. He accomplished our salvation. He now draws us into His restoring work among His people and in His world.Remove love from the gifts, and they become noise—religious performance indistinguishable from pagan worship. But when love governs the gifts because Christ is Savior and Lord, our lives reveal Jesus, the church is strengthened, and God is glorified.

LESSON 50I Am Sustained By The Love Of God.Here is the answer to every problem that will confront you, today and tomorrow and throughout time. In this world, you believe you are sustained by everything but God. Your faith is placed in the most trivial and insane symbols; pills, money, “protective” clothing, influence, prestige, being liked, knowing the “right” people, and an endless list of forms of nothingness that you endow with magical powers. All these things are your replacements for the Love of God. All these things are cherished to ensure a body identification. They are songs of praise to the ego. Do not put your faith in the worthless. It will not sustain you.Only the Love of God will protect you in all circumstances. It will lift you out of every trial, and raise you high above all the perceived dangers of this world into a climate of perfect peace and safety. It will transport you into a state of mind that nothing can threaten, nothing can disturb, and where nothing can intrude upon the eternal calm of the Son of God.Put not your faith in illusions. They will fail you. Put all your faith in the Love of God within you; eternal, changeless and forever unfailing. This is the answer to whatever confronts you today. Through the Love of God within you, you can resolve all seeming difficulties without effort and in sure confidence. Tell yourself this often today. It is a declaration of release from the belief in idols. It is your acknowledgment of the truth about yourself. For ten minutes, twice today, morning and evening, let the idea for today sink deep into your consciousness. Repeat it, think about it, let related thoughts come to help you recognize its truth, and allow peace to flow over you like a blanket of protection and surety. Let no idle and foolish thoughts enter to disturb the holy mind of the Son of God. Such is the Kingdom of Heaven. Such is the resting place where your Father has placed you forever.- Jesus Christ in ACIM

What sustains us? Money? Social Media? Medical Systems? Supply Chain Economics? Our smarts and cleverness? Do we connect with the LOVE OF GOD which is is subject of this Lesson #50. "I am sustained by the Love of God," it says. Do we connect with this Universal Energy? Do we have the Love of God in the forefront of our attentions? This Lesson #50 is attempting to change our minds and our focus. How far into the Love of God are we willing to go? This is the QUESTION!
Today on the podcast, we reflect on this past Sunday's sermon on John 3:16 and the simplicity of the Gospel. We also discuss and take a deeper look at Ramadan. We hope this episode encourages you. Thanks for listening, and we'll see you next time.

There was much ado about Spinoza, at least amongst the German rationalists and romantics. In this episode, we're going beyond the metaphysics to talk about the entire purpose of Spinoza's Ethics: the path to human freedom, in which a human being can become liberated from domination of the affects. The way to achieve this, according to Spinoza, is purely through understanding. No willpower or effort is needed: with knowledge alone, one can understand the necessity of all things, and connect the idea of God to all things. This is the intellectual love of God, through which God infinitely loves himself. In this episode, we will also examine the topics of: Spinoza's three types of knowledge; the meaning of "sub species aeternitatis"; Spinoza's difference from Descartes & the Stoics.

We should emphasize that God loves and forgives for his own glory because the Bible does, and because it makes clear that God loves us with the greatest love.
