Guest speaker, Trent Jones, teaches on Galatians 5:1-12. We can't serve two Masters- we are either trusting Jesus or trusting the law. Are you trusting Christ's sacrifice is sufficient for you? Is your faith being expressed in your actions? Is love the motivator?

God wants in, and wants in on the parts of our lives that even married couples have trouble revealing about one’s self. I mean, honestly, you gotta get naked before God. That’s how it feels. That’s why it’s so offensive. The Law suggests to those who don’t receive it right, “You can do it. You can do what you need to succeed, to be saved, to be righteous before God.” And that way is safe. It’s, “Well, it’s me and this long road, but if I can do it, I can get out of having to be vulnerable before God and other people. Maybe I’ll clean myself up so there’ll be a day I don’t have to expose how evil I’ve been.”

Let your faith work through love and you won’t fall into legalism or libertinism.
Let your faith work through love and you won’t fall into legalism or libertinism.
In the text for this sermon, we see that trying to earn our way to salvation actually separates us from Christ. The Apostle Paul sums up the whole letter and in some ways the whole of the Bible by telling us the only thing that matters is faith working through love!

WE ARE BACK! ... Onsite-INSIDE for this week's worship service. It feels like a new day of freedom to be able to gather again in Corporate Worship after six months of the COVID-19 precautions, but what about your own life? Are you living in a place of freedom under God's grace or have you become bound by adding other things to God's wonderful grace. We look at Galatians 5:1 "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not become burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

Galatians 5:1-12. Nathan Hale. Nelson Mandela. William Wallace. Freedom is something to be fought for again and again. We see this throughout history, but we don’t realize that our freedom in Christ must be fought for as well. Last week we learned where to find true freedom: in the Gospel alone. This week, we'll learn how to stand firm in that freedom.

We celebrate our freedom on July 4th every year. With Christ we have even more freedom.
As we continue in our One Thing series, Jazz Cathcart walks us through Galatians 5:1-12. He explains how Christ is passionate about freeing people, not only from slavery to sin and the flesh, but from the chains of religious performance. He expounds on how the gospel grants us life-giving access to God and frees us to focus on the one thing that counts, namely faith in Christ expressing itself through love.
We exist for the praise of the glory of God’s grace in Christ Jesus. Everything we do as a church must bring glory to God in the name of Christ Jesus. We are an intergenerational church. We strive to make a seamless journey of faith from birth to old age. We are overtly trinitarian. We are always looking for the work of the Father through the Son by the power of the Holy Spirit. We value people. We present the ideal of God’s plan while embracing the reality of life.
