In this encouraging and wisdom-filled episode, Ambassador Elisha welcomes back Rose Ann Forte, bestselling author, Christian recovery coach, and founder of the Choose Freedom program.
From an early age, Rose Ann lived the party life. Decades later, as a wife, mom, and high-level executive, she found Jesus, but she couldn't find a reason to give up alcohol. Most programs required complete abstinence from substance use, but they couldn't explain the neuroscience behind addiction. Shortly after a divorce from a toxic marriage, Rose Ann found a program that psychologically and scientifically addressed substance use - and it worked for her. Throughout her recovery, she began applying the wisdom of Scripture - and that worked for her. So she blended her love of science and God's Word and created a program to help others find freedom from the psychological slavery of substances.Today, Rose Ann is an award-winning author of three books, a speaker, and the course creator of the Choose Freedom® Program. She's made it her mission to inspire people to renew their minds, rewire their brains, and experience true freedom in Christ. As she likes to tell people, "It's never too late."Listen in as Rose Ann shares her transformation story with honesty and confidence. If you're looking to take the next step toward freedom, or if you're hoping to guide someone toward the next step, this episode is for you. Our charity golf tournament: https://www.ephraimhope.org/2025-golf-tournamentThis week on Y's Guys, Dave McCann and Blaine Fowler dive into one of the most pivotal moments in recent BYU recruiting history: the impending announcement from 5-star quarterback Ryder Lyons, who is set to choose between BYU and Oregon. AJ Dybantsa is officially named to the USA U19 National Team for the FIBA World Cup in Switzerland, while Trevin Knell joins Jimmer Fredette as part of Team USA's 3x3 squad. BYU also ranks third in the Big 12 in returning scoring production, with key contributors like Richie Saunders, Keba Keita, and Dawson Baker back for 2025–26.Other highlights include a segment with Jim Evans from America's Freedom Festival and BradyPlus CEO Travis Brady, who reflects on leadership, patriotism, and the growth of his company. On this episode, the guys talk about freedom, and we always choose freedom here at Berg.
In Galatians (Chapter 5), the Apostle Paul emphasizes the significant decision every Believer must make between freedom and slavery, liberty and bondage, life and death. The choice is ours: to embrace the freedom offered in Christ or to return to the shackles of the flesh, world, and the devil. In this message, we will look at the practical benefits (and detriments) of choosing either life-liberating freedom or burdensome slavery. Let's choose wisely! Break Out of the Systems, Choose Freedom and Build a Better World Together Once a month on our Tuesday Coffee With Nicole show, we go unplugged and today is that day. This is the question I got most often when people are looking to transition out of a live on the job conveyer belt to working for themselves. Indeed, one of the biggest reasons give to me by a more left leaning friend of mine for WHY we needed Obamacare was health insurance. Note that I do not refer to this as healthcare and that is with reason. He pointed out that, as an aspiring entrepreneur you already are facing a hard road ahead, but if you get sick you could lose everything and health insurance is so expensive. I remember ending that conversation pointing out that he and I wanted the same thing, affordable health care so that sick people can get what they need to get better. We just wanted it in a different way. Then another friend told me about her experience being in a car crash in great Britain which has a more socialized healthcare system than in the US. At the hostpital, they had no idea how to get paid for helping her so there was a fight for every step in her care until she finally figured out how to charter a flight out of that country and back home for care. She wanted to just pay since she did not qualify for care there (and must not have had travel insurance) but they had no way to do that. In the early aughts, I was workign for myself and carried one of those plans where you hold a high deductible and put up to something like 75% of you annual deductible into an HSA for when you need it. This meant I needed to pay case for care up to about $1000 a year (That was a high deductible 20 years ago yo) and I would talk with the office manager before getting seen to negotiate my fees for 25-40% less if I paid cash up front. Because they spent WAY less in resources getting paid when they did not need to bill insurance. Then I needed a specialist - and that specialist did a bunch of tests without my permission, did not tell me what they were looking for and biopsied me in a way that has left a long-term disfiguration that was unnecessary. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune skin condition called lichen sclerosis in my 20s and they had no idea how to treat it. When I went to negotiate the bill, the office manager had no idea what to charge me at time of service because their billing system was so complicated. She kept asking me to apply for government assistance so that they could bill me at those rates and when I tried to pay with cash, she had no idea what to do. Months later, there was a bill, I made a call and offered 60% of it cash, and they accepted that offer. The struggle is real yall. Problems with the US Healthcare System Being sick and dying sucks and sometimes they have no idea what to do Chronic illness is on the rise alongside obesity and there are more people needing more help We already had a doctor to patient problem coming with the boomer retirement wave and we made it worse with all the drama of the pandemic We have been programmed to equate health insurance with healthcare Incentives in the system are toward increased beauracracy Codes and billing have made it worse over time and this starts in medicaid Health insurance as a tax deduction was incentivised in the 40s and messed with in the 50s leading to the transition from cash for care to the broken system we have now - and back then, being sick and dying still sucked Culture shift: Health care and medical support became an elite system that cut out alternative healing, health coaching, and prevention and focused on first cures, then management One thing that has made US progress happen faster than other places: Rich Sick People What does this mean for freedom? Like everything else your health and health care is your responsibilty. Are the insurance companies to blame? Yes but so are the nonprofit hospitals, the doctors who allowed biling to be taken from them, managed health care systems, the IRS, etc. It is not a single villian and that makes it hard to beat. Erosion of dental Erosion of veterinary Hope: Cash Clinics Concierge Care Growing body of knowledge on nutrition, lifestyle choices and in the impact of big food on our bodies Functional medicine Integrated Manual Therapy PMAs Drs and Nurses doing their best from inside the system to help people get care But this impacts your freedom in a big way doesnt it? The only way to fix this one is to invest your time, money and energy in an alternative and become the solution – and yet if there is a fencepost through your leg, you are going to end up in THE SYSTEM right now so you want to be ready for that. Health Shares Relationships and Kindness Obamacare plans and employer insurance Private Insurance But we need to keep our eye on the long term and, help build it, and be ready to jump when the jumpin is good. My favorite and most trusted Tarot reader, Christina Leynes, joins me for a conversation full of vulnerable personal journey shares of walking the path of the Heart. She gives us a collective reading for the eclipse portal that we are about to walk through, and it is WILD! This reading, as with all of Christina's readings, is timeless. Whenever it finds you, it is just right! Her story of being tested to release all fear is not for the faint-hearted. She is a glorious example of a fearless warrior of Light, a roaring Queen of the Heart. "To those who do what is in them to do, like what is in their heart to do, let's say, what has been placed on their heart to do, God will not deny grace. And that is not just a Catholic tenet. That is just, that is universal. The universe will not deny you grace. When you are true to what your heart is telling you to do, when you're true to your authentic self, God will not deny you grace, and I had to cling on to that, even in the darkest times, where all faith could have been lost." About Christina: If you had told Christina Leynes 7 years ago that she would be reading tarot cards for people and on such a public forum, she would have told you you're crazy. Although she had a mild fascination and quiet admiration for those who worked in the divinatory arts, she believed such occupations to be untenable and possibly even unmeritorious. However, it was amid a series of life shifts which included divorce, a cross-country move, and job loss that Christina turned to the sacred tarot to seek guidance from whomever it was out there who brought upon her those monumental disruptions. The genesis of her tarot practice, Shine Your Light Oracle, was a stroke of playful spontaneity, inquisitiveness, and the profound faith in its potential to help someone out there as much as the tarot has helped her. What is Discussed: Christina takes us through her ultimate personal surrender experiment - an experience that ultimately led her to release conditioned fears and roar with newly found freedom. Releasing fear through experiencing what we fear the most - being homeless and without food. And what she learned from going through this difficult stage. Christina uses the analogy of being asked to be a canary in a coal mine where she is being asked to walk the path of surrender and trust and share her findings with us - and you will hear just that! How Freedom is on the other side of whatever hardship we are going through. The role service plays in our personal journeys as humans on the evolutionary path. Her way of reading tarot and the special relationship she has with the cards and Spirit. Eclipse portal implications on a personal and collective level. Please join her for a free collective reading on her Instagram page @shineyourlightoracle Learn more about Christina and the services she offers on her website www.shineyourlightoracle.com You are also welcome to reach Christina at shineyourlightoracle@gmail.com Like this show? Emotions is the theme for this month. And I am always fascinated to find out who is going to fit into this theme and what I am going to learn. And for this episode of Empowering Chats, I am honored to introduce Mary Firestone. Mary is an inspirational speaker and an author. Mary is the author of, Trusting the Dawn, How to Choose Freedom and Joy after Trauma. I met Mary at a winery in California when I was personally dealing with my own trauma. And her book spoke to me. It took us a bit to get here – but after I met her, I knew I just had to have her on my podcast. Here's her personal story. This is an excerpt from the introduction to her book: It was more than 5 hours before I was rescued from my bathroom countertop where I huddled wet and pregnant . . . I was shaking from the cold and fear from being trapped by millions of gallons of mud . . . for much of that time I thought my husband and 4-year-old son had been swept away in the mudslide . . . I thought my life was over . . . I watched this river of mud crumple a neighbor's house and hurtle it down the hill away from me . . . On my right the majority of my house had twisted backwards and washed away . . . not only was my living room gone, but my panic surpassed anything I had ever known when I realized the window looking back at me was my 4-year-old son's bedroom and I thought he was in it. Mary's personal story of surviving this trauma is what led her to write this book. This mudslide occurred in early 2018, right after the Thomas Fire raged through much of Southern California in late 2017. The land was barren from the fire and ripe for mudslides which occurred when torrential non-stop rain hit many of the coastal cities including Santa Barbara and Montecito. And so, I led the interview by asking Mary the question, How can trauma be a gift? Mary explains that for her the gift came in the form of her intellectual thinking brain going on hiatus so her body could get in touch with what she identifies as the Divine, recognizing that some people call this their higher self or The Universe. She saw this as a gift because it allowed her to tap into recognizing her fragileness and the beauty of being human. Being human, according to Mary, means we get to experience not just the joy and love that comes with our human life but also have an appreciation and a connection to that higher frequency because of the trauma some of us experience. And this experience is what led Mary to research how others who had lived through trauma learned to overcome and compost the trauma so that they too came out the other end with more light, more joy and more understanding of what it means to be human. Mary's book is not just full of research but tools we can all use to overcome trauma and recognize when we are taking the label of “victimhood” and using it as a crutch to stay stuck. Mary shares stories of other victims who survived extreme trauma and did not become lifelong victims. Mary talks about healing from the inside out so we can tap into our inner landscape for healing. Mary offers many well researched facts, and experienced information about how to heal from trauma. Whether you are dealing with your own trauma or dealing with the traumatizing events going on in the world, there is something here we can all learn from. So even if you think you don't need to know about trauma or heal from it – on some level we are all touched by it. In closing Mary shared the following: You are not alone. This book can be your companion. There is so much hope and avenue for you to find joy and re-ignite your light. Don't give-up. Seek your solution and take care of yourself, love yourself and you will heal. Good news: American patriots in Michigan just induced a Chinese Communist Party company not to buy 250 acres of prime farmland in the heart of Michigan. A group called “Choose Freedom” has been raising an alarm about the CCP's plan to build a lithium-ion battery plant for electric vehicles with $750 million in state subsidies and concessions. While other elements of this initiative that threatens the environment and national security are still afoot, this partial victory should prompt Michigan and federal authorities to pull the plug on the rest. That should also be done regarding the CCP's purchases of other agricultural land here which, according to a Daily Mail investigation, involve 400,000 acres worth $2 billion, up from $160 million ten years ago. The Chinese would never allow such an arrangement there, and we shouldn't tolerate it here, either. This is Frank Gaffney.

Mary joined this week's episode of The Growth Guide podcast to talk about understanding trauma, how to talk to yourself, integration and initiation, aromatherapy, ketamine therapy, daily practices to reduce trauma, and more.Sometimes we talk to ourselves in a harsh way that we never tell anyone else. But being empathetic and kind to ourselves is essential in the process of healing from trauma. The first step in addressing ourselves kindly is identifying our internal thoughts. The second step is to redecorate those internal thoughts with more powerful and empowering ones, says Mary. The goal of trauma therapy is to integrate. That means we shouldn't try to fully remove trauma from our lives. Instead, we can make the trauma a part of our story. A part of our lives that led us to the moment we are in or be the person we are today. You are not alone, and there are a lot of ways to help you reduce your suffering with the right guidance. Healing is absolutely possible; you just have to keep searching.[05.29] Understanding trauma - How to recognize that you are dealing with trauma and what symptoms to look for.[11.52] Talk to ourselves – It's important how we talk to ourselves. Mary walks us through the steps to talking to ourselves when we are in a traumatic condition.[18.56] Integration and initiation – Instead of attempting to eliminate trauma, we should try to integrate it into our lives.[25.53] Shaking therapy – Mary shares some trauma-releasing exercises that you can do to physically release trauma.[30.34] Aromatherapy – Mary defines aromatherapy and flower essences and how they can help with trauma.[36.07] Acupuncture – Mary explains how acupuncture takes one from the sympathetic stage to the parasympathetic stage.[41.55] EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. [54.30] Daily practices – Qi Gong, reading, writing letters to God, and yoga are some of Mary's daily practices for people who deal with trauma. In this talk, Rev Lee discusses that Bondage is an experience. It is not a person, place or thing. It is a state of belief and it is a state of mind that we create and until we realize that we have created our own bondage, we cannot begin to understand how to become free. In 2017, Mary and her family were just getting settled into a new home in Montecito when the Thomas Fire erupted at the end of that year. Mary, who was four months pregnant at the time, and her family evacuated for a month and returned to their home in January 2018 when the area was deemed safe. They were not under mandatory evacuation orders on the night of January 9 of that year when massive amounts of heavy rain caused a debris flow that would claim the lives of 23 people (many of them her immediate neighbors) and over 450 structures. Their new home was in one of the two direct paths of the tsunami-like debris flow of mud, water, and boulders that tore down the mountain. Mary was separated from her son and husband and trapped alone for five hours on a sliver of her bathroom counter, wet and cold from winter rain and covered in toxic mud. For much of that time she thought her son and husband had not survived as she watched the two story part of her home that contained her son's bedroom get washed away in a river of mud. While trapped, she experienced a connection to a powerful and calming force. Now, Mary is on a personal mission to let others know they are not alone and there is light on the other side of the darkness of PTSD. Mary just released her first book Trusting the Dawn: How to Choose Freedom and Joy After Trauma, and Dr. Joe Dispeza himself said “This book is medicine for anyone who wants to free their mind, body, and soul from the past.” Highlights of this episode: Finding your way out of PTSD Taking back your power after a traumatic experience How to heal trauma with alternative therapies How to turn trauma indicators into opportunities for growth Get in touch with Mary: Get Mary's Book: https://www.amazon.com/Trusting-Dawn-Choose-Freedom-Trauma/dp/1683649125 Website: https://www.maryfirestone.co/ IG: https://www.instagram.com/firestonesisters/ Get in touch with Juliet: IG: https://www.instagram.com/juliet_root/ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejulietrootshow/message
