A sermon for November 16, 2025. Luke 21:5-19 When some were speaking about the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts dedicated to God, Jesus said, "As for these things that you see, the days will come when not one stone will be left upon another; all will be thrown down." They asked him, "Teacher, when will this be, and what will be the sign that this is about to take place?" And he said, "Beware that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name and say, `I am he!' and, `The time is near!' Do not go after them. "When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end will not follow immediately." Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and plagues; and there will be dreadful portents and great signs from heaven. "But before all this occurs, they will arrest you and persecute you; they will hand you over to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. This will give you an opportunity to testify. So make up your minds not to prepare your defense in advance; for I will give you words and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, by relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. You will be hated by all because of my name. But not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your souls."
In Galatians 5, Paul begins to describe the free life God wants for us. We were set free to be free - and to use that freedom to selflessly serve others.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 13th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Old Testament in the Book of Exodus 34:7:”…by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity (the sin) of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation.” Then we go straight to the Book of Romans 6:23:”For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Beautiful! Many people often contact me and they are very troubled and they say that they really feel oppressed. They find themselves doing the very things they don't want to do and they find out that their parents and their grandparents before them did exactly the same thing. I'm talking about sin. I'm talking about things like alcoholism, drug addiction, immorality even suicide. “Yes, my father took his life, my grandmother took her life, and so what hope is there for me?” Well, there is lots of hope for you today. If we go to Luke 8:2, we'll see that Mary Magdalene was delivered of seven demons by Jesus. He set her free. That woman was the first person to see Jesus resurrected from the tomb on Easter Sunday.I want to pray for you this morning and I want to pray that this thing that you are troubled with will be cut off once and for all. That's why Jesus said: ”It is finished.” John 8:36 says if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. You do not have to walk around with that thing on your back. Today it is going to be cut off and never to be spoken of again. Now if you want me to do that, I'm going to pray for you and maybe you'd like to pray after me:Dear Lord Jesus, Today I repent of all the sins of my fathers and mothers and grandfathers and grandmothers and those before them, because Lord, You came down from heaven to earth to set things straight. You've said if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us and set us free.(1 John 1:9). Therefore, you are free today. Go, as Jesus always said, and sin no more. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
Anger is an appropriate response to something which is not right. The Bible says 'be angry and sin not'. So when does anger become a sin? God has called His people to live with open hands—ready to release whatever He's entrusted to us so He can use it for His glory. In Ezra, God's people were given a specific assignment: return to Jerusalem and rebuild His temple. They were not only called but also promised everything they needed to complete the task. God will never lead us where He will not provide. At first, their obedience and excitement collided with God's power, and they celebrated what He had done. But when opposition came, circumstances grew louder than God's promises, and their hands began to close. For 17 years, they stopped building. Through the prophet Haggai, God spoke again: “Think carefully about your ways.” We're not saved to sit. We've been set free to build His Kingdom. As we align our priorities and move together in obedience, God is preparing to do what only He can do. Whatever He asks of you—say yes. Trust Him with what seems impossible. When our obedience meets His power, He makes a way where there seems to be no way.Check out our video version of this episode: https://youtu.be/5bkNssH4jzYSubscribe to our YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/8wmeCwBf_zkLearn more about us at chestnutmountain.orgFollow us on Facebook & Instagram @chestnutmtn_Don't forget to subscribe to this podcast, leave a review, and let us know what you think.

In this prophetic wake-up call, Sherrie Kapala reveals how spiritual bondage to food begins not on the plate, but in the mind.Drawing from Colossians 2:20–23 and James 1:14–15, she exposes how evil operates as a power—released through thought, anchored in belief, and made physical through behavior.Through her own testimony of breaking free from alcohol and food dependence, Sherrie contrasts the counterfeit freedom of the world with the true transformation of the Kingdom. You'll learn how to recognize wrong-kingdom thoughts, apply the Idol Test to your life, and walk in the peace and power that come from obedience to God.If you're ready to break free from the world's patterns and finally align your health journey with heaven's power, join her inside The Seeker's Method.-----How You Get in Bondage to Food—and How to Be Set FreeThe Hidden Power Behind Food Bondage (and How to Break Free)How Evil Uses Desire to Keep You Bound to FoodFrom Craving to Freedom: The Spiritual Battle Behind Food BondageChristian Weight Loss. How to lose weightHow Christian's lose weight.

Send us a textGUEST: JAMIE BAMBRICK, Associate Pastor Hope Church, Craigavon, Northern IrelandFor nearly 1500 years, Britain has been a Christian nation—Roman Catholic for centuries and then Protestant since the Reformation in the 16th century. In fact, the nation has an official Christian church—the Church of England.Britain is known for some of the most impactful preachers, such as John Knox (Scotland), John Bunyan, Charles Spurgeon, William Booth (Salvation Army), and Martin Lloyd Jones. It would not be an overstatement to say that Britain was the seat of Protestant Christianity for several centuries. So it is hard to understand how a nation known for its Christianity is so willing to throw it all away. How is that happening? Over the last 20 years or so, Britain has welcomed millions of Muslims into their land to the point that the most common birth name in England is Muhammad. Nine major cities, including London, have Islamic mayors. Muslims openly call for jihad and Sharia Law on the streets of England and Muslim gangs have raped English girls for years while the government covered it up for fear of creating “Islamophobia.”Jamie Bambrick is a pastor and well-known YouTuber in Belfast, Northern Island, which is one of four nations that comprise the United Kingdom (England, Wales, and Scotland are the others). Jamie joins us to discuss the societal suicide that is taking place, particularly in England, and how Christians in America need to be aware and vigilant about what is taking place here. For example, New York City, the cultural and financial hub of our country, is set to elect a communist Muslim to be mayor. The same thing is taking place here in Minneapolis.Jamie will also report on how other liberties are being restricted through arrests for social media posts and praying outside abortion clinics to a nation ID card called BritCard, which will allow government to track and control your life and movement. From co-authors Mark Hopson and Jamie Bambrick, Set Free is for anyone searching for answers, wrestling with doubts or wondering if real change is possible. It's about breaking free from the lies we believe — about ourselves, about God and about what will make us happy. It's also about discovering the truth, purpose and hope we were made for.

The gospel doesn't free us to chase our own desires but to love and serve others through Christ. Set Free by the Gospel calls us to use our freedom not for self, but for love — the true mark of a life transformed by grace.
We close out our Set Free series by discovering what it truly means to live in the freedom Christ has given us—not alone, but together.Paul reminds us in Galatians 6 that freedom isn't about doing whatever we want; it's about loving others enough to help carry their burdens. When we walk in step with the Spirit, we become a community that restores, encourages, and strengthens one another.Join us as Pastor Nick shares a message on what it means to live free as the family of God.At New Promise Church you will see people of all ages, from a variety of backgrounds, and at different stages of their spiritual journey. We desire to draw closer to Jesus by understanding who He is and what He has done for us.
We rush through our lives, often unaware that a higher state of being is available to us—a state of peace, calm, and deep connection with all life. The radical message of the Apostle Paul is that this way of being becomes possible when we simply accept Christ into our hearts. So, what are we waiting for?

There is joy in Israel this week — families are being reunited as 20 hostages are finally freed from the hands of Hamas. Any time innocent lives are saved, it is cause for celebration. These moments remind us what the ultimate goal must be: peace, security, and the hope that this cycle of bloodshed can one day end. But behind the celebration lies a grim warning. To bring these hostages home, Israel has agreed to release 2,000 Palestinian prisoners — many of them hardened terrorists responsible for the murders of innocent civilians. The world has seen this before: when killers are set free, violence follows. Today, we confront the uneasy truth — that a deal meant to advance peace could unleash a new wave of terror. We’ll examine the risks, the politics, and the individual horror stories of ten of the worst of these terrorists.
