We American Christians have forgotten something important about our faith - namely, it's about a life WITH God rather than all the things we're doing FOR God. Our focus on endless activity is no accident. In the late 1800s, American Christians shifted heavily toward action, perfectly captured by preacher Charles Spurgeon’s famous plea: “Brethren, do something; do something; do something.” For over a century, this mindset has defined the movement by its programs and busyness. But the earliest disciples were marked as different - simply because they had been WITH Jesus.

The kingdom of God has a value that calls us to give up all we have to gain it. Do you want what you think is best, or do you want God’s best for your life? You and I must be willing to give up everything we have in order to gain it. Jesus makes is clear that no one can purchase the God’s kingdom with money or good works. How much will it cost? When it comes to following Jesus, we all know that is will cost us something. Will I have to give this up? Am I required to change that? Do I need to go there? Asking the cost is an important question when it comes to faith. But it’s not the only question. In fact, perhaps the better question is: what will you gain? As we conclude our Kingdom Vision series, learn to see the incredible value of the Kingdom.
