Jesus did not die for Himself, and He did not rise for Himself! Jim has given this message the provocative title, He's Alive - So What? "What does that mean to me?" as we're always asking. Well, a lot. Because the Lord's resurrection wasn't the only one of its kind, just the first of its kind. We might call it a prototype. The Apostles used phrases like, "firstborn among many brethren," and "firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep." We're in Mark, chapter 16. The women trudging to the tomb of Jesus on that Sunday morning didn't expect an angel - but he was expecting them! Our expectations and assumptions have a lot to do with what we see, and what we believe. And with what sinks into our ears, too. All of these factors were in play in those holy hours when Christ had risen, but no one knew it! Mark has four things he wants to lay out for us, simply and clearly. Jim will tell us about those in his sermon, He's Alive - So What? We are wrapping up, or beginning to, our signature episode; in this installment, we start with David's description in Psalm 22 of the crucifixion of Jesus.Beginning with the most historic moment, both great joy for us and agony for our Savior,"My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?" Psalm 22:1aThe spiritual separation of Jesus, his pain, and humiliation are also described in Psalm 22. What did Jesus do in anticipation of this excruciating pain?He sought the Father, gathered His friends, and prayed."And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as Thou wilt." Matthew 26:39We apply this in various and sundry ways: "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." However, it is key to note that we hear that phrase from our Savior in the context of prayer! Our So What? Our duty, glory, excellency, and abundant life flow directly from our communion with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.Brethren, let us pray for one another to overcome the weakness of the flesh through prayer. "What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more." Lord, Grant Me Spirit-Led Decisions! "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God." Romans 8:14 Picture a GPS softly guiding you through life's winding roads. Just as it recalibrates in real-time, so too does the Holy Spirit offer divine direction for our paths. Remember the story of Peter and Cornelius in Acts 10? God orchestrated a beautiful intersection, reminding us that divine nudges can lead to extraordinary encounters. Think back to the last time you felt the gentle pull of the Spirit's guidance. Perhaps it was a decision that felt unexpectedly clear or a moment where doubt turned into faith. Romans 8:14 reassures us, “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” You are not alone; you have a heavenly navigator charting your course. Psalm 32:8 says, I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you. Isaiah 30:21 also beautifully echoes this sentiment: “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'” Therefore, trust that the whispers of the Holy Spirit are there to lead if you are willing and trust God, much like a seasoned guide helping you discover new landscapes. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to lean on this understanding: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.” Brethren remember, in God's kingdom "No guesswork, just grace-work — He lights what he meant for to see." Now, as you navigate your life, He is ready to guide without guessing. He will make every decision clearer when you invite the Holy Spirit. Kenneth Copeland once said, “One word from God can change everything.” So, stay attuned to those divine promptings, and watch your path shining. Amen. Psalm 25:8-9 says, "Good and upright is the LORD; therefore, He shows sinners the way. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way." Amen Prayer for the Day!Father, thank You for clear guidance at our current crossroads. May we be attuned to the Spirit's whispers and confidently follow Your lead. Lord helps us to walk in the line you drew, so that we don't trace in pencil. May we walk in your grace-work, not in guesswork. In Jesus name. Amen. Maglife.org

Covering the 1969 to 1975 terms, The Brethren exposed the internal debates over matters like the Pentagon Papers and Roe v. Your Joy Shall Outlast Every Hardship! "Rejoice in the LORD, O righteous ones; it is fitting for the upright to praise Him." Psalm 33:1 Life is a grand marathon, where every mile marker represents not just the distance traveled, but also the victories embraced. Like a steadfast marathoner, you can choose to wave at these mile markers with a joyful heart, recognizing each moment as a testament to your resilience. Just as Paul and Silas sang fervently in their prison cell, proclaiming joy amid their circumstances, you too shall find reasons to sing. Their unwavering spirit teaches us that joy can bloom even in the most unlikely places. Hebrews 12:1-3 encourages us to “run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.” This verse reminds us that joy is not merely an emotion; it is a destination. As you journey through life, may you find profound joy in little victories, as reflected in Nehemiah 8:10: "The joy of the Lord is your strength." May this joy accompany you, empowering you to embrace each moment with grace. James 1:2-4 says, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." C.S. Lewis eloquently stated, “Joy is the serious business of heaven.” In other words, where God's glory abides, joy is craftsmanship — shaped, shared, and never runs out of stock. Remember, the universe offers many degrees, but heaven majors in a high degree of pleasure, satisfaction, or joy, and every soul that keen on it is on scholarship. So, nurture your spirit, and allow joy to sprout. Each day, choose to celebrate the beauty around you, and you are transforming ordinary moments into extraordinary treasures. Brethren, remember, "Joy is not the absence of struggle; it's the quiet fire that tempers faith into courage." Therefore, instead of viewing life through a lens of difficulty, look toward the brilliance of joy that you are destined to embrace. Your heart is ready to soar beyond any fleeting moment of disappointment. Amen. Philippians 4:4 says, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice." Amen. Prayer for the Day!Heavenly Father, thank You for granting us the joy that outlasts any hardship. I pray that you fill our hearts with an enduring joy that shines brightly. Teach us to celebrate life's mile markers and embrace the joy that radiates from You. May our smiles be a reflection of Your love and grace. In Jesus name. Amen. https://maglife.org

The divine plan must have looked totally random to Simon of Cyrene! Everything about that last day of Jesus' life was "by the Book" - I mean, according to what was written in the Scriptures. In this dispatch, Lady Whistleblown examines disturbing testimony now emerging from within the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC) — testimony that some observers have begun referring to as “The PBCC Epstein Files.” A survivor describes years of abuse beginning in childhood within the Brethren community, allegedly involving multiple men in positions of religious authority. The survivor later moved within the orbit of senior PBCC leadership in Sydney, including Bruce Hales, the long-time global leader of the church, and Gareth Hales. The allegations described are now part of an active police investigation into this abuse. As these testimonies begin to surface, questions are growing about the culture of silence, power, and protection within the PBCC — and whether distractions and public controversies are being used to divert attention from far more serious issues. This dispatch explores the allegations, the historical context inside the Brethren movement, and why a growing number of voices believe the full story is only just beginning to emerge.

Confronted by the Truth. The Disciples had gradually come to know Jesus over a period of time. But for a handful of people, Christ suddenly burst into their lives, and they had to try to come to grips with Him as best they could. Those folks make up the majority of the case studies we'll examine today and tomorrow. Their lives were all changed, but were they all changed for the better? In this short follow-up video, former Plymouth Brethren member Steve Simmons responds to the growing controversy surrounding the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC) and its use of legal action against former members who speak out.Steve urges Brethren members to watch the Get A Life Podcast episode “Corruption Creek”, episode 161, which exposes serious allegations of abuse, cover-ups, and the legal pressure being used against whistleblowers. He raises difficult questions for the church leadership and the Global Advisory Panel:• Why is legal action the first response to criticism?• Why are enormous sums spent protecting the reputation of organizations like the Rapid Relief Team (RRT)?• When criticism arises, should the response be legal action or accountability and compassion?Steve also highlights several cases involving former members who have faced lawsuits, intimidation, or ostracism after speaking out. In this video he references situations involving individuals such as Peter Bishop, Caleb Hall, and senior PBCC leader Bruce Hales, raising questions about the role of leadership and the increasing reliance on legal action within the church. This video is a call for transparency, accountability, and justice.

There is more than one "End." We talk about "the End of the Age" as if it were the same experience for everyone, happening at the same time. Today Jim will unconfuse us about that! But to follow this thread we'll have to widen the discussion beyond Mark's record (which we've been studying), and bring Luke, Paul, and even Daniel onto the panel. Once we see the distinction between what Jesus said about the "Kingdom of God" and our "redemption," things will start to fall into place. Signs of the End: Lies, and persecution. Falsehoods have been loose in our world since that late unpleasantness in the Garden. False Christs were luring people after them even before the real one appeared, 2,000 years ago. And let's reluctantly add one more sign: Persecution of the people of God. So what's different about these phenomena in the Last Days? How can common, "normal" things be signs? Here's Jim in Mark, chapter 13. The sermon centers on the biblical imperative of exhortation as a vital expression of Christian community, rooted in Hebrews 10:24–25, where believers are called to provoke one another to love and good works through intentional, close relationships. It emphasizes that exhortation is not mere advice or judgment, but a loving, Spirit-led call to draw near—modeled after Christ's ministry and exemplified in the early church's unity across ethnic and cultural divides, as seen in the conversion of Cornelius and the growth of the church in Antioch. The message unpacks the 'who' (all believers), 'what' (provoking love for God and righteous living), and 'when' (especially in gathered worship and daily life), drawing from 1 Thessalonians and Titus to show that exhortation must be rooted in sincerity, humility, and personal example, not manipulation or pride. It warns against gossip and broken trust while affirming that genuine exhortation strengthens faith, fosters accountability, and prepares the church for Christ's return, especially in times of increasing moral decline. Ultimately, the sermon calls the congregation to embrace this ministry with patience, courage, and mutual care, recognizing that spiritual growth is a shared, relational journey.

For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [[b]which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope] 11 That if possible I may attain to the [[c]spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body]. 12 Not that I have now attained [this ideal], or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay hold of (grasp) and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus (the Messiah) has laid hold of me and made me His own. 13 I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward. 15 So let those [of us] who are spiritually mature and full-grown have this mind and hold these convictions; and if in any respect you have a different attitude of mind, God will make that clear to you also. 16 Only let us hold true to what we have already attained and walk and order our lives by that. 17 Brethren, together follow my example and observe those who live after the pattern we have set for you. 18 For there are many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, who walk (live) as enemies of the cross of Christ (the Anointed One). 19 They are doomed and their [d]fate is eternal misery (perdition); their god is their stomach (their appetites, their sensuality) and they glory in their shame, [e]siding with earthly things and being of their party.

The Disciples thought they had asked an easy question, but Jesus gave them an answer that we're still sorting out today. Some of them wanted to know, "What will be the sign when all these things are going to be fulfilled?" And the Lord gave them a very detailed reply. Not everyone in the Temple was there for the wrong reasons! The merchants and moneylenders had come to church to line their own pockets. Paul would later write about those who confuse godliness with gain, religion with riches. The Jewish leaders had come to strut their superiority, it seems, and to police everyone else's religion. But at least one woman had come to the place of worship to worship - with her offering. And of course, Jesus noticed. Here's Jim, reading from Mark 12:43.
