In her new book, Far, far better things, she shares that, in the first 12 years of her marriage, she and her husband, although faithfully attending church and following Jesus as best they knew how, were still very focused on "getting ahead," building their bank account, striving to have the best of everything - including having the best house and the best kids. They pushed themselves nearly to the breaking point. She tells us what (who?) stopped that trajectory and got them to turn their lives around and specifically, start asking the question, "What if we lived what we say we believe?” From Success to Surrender: A Life Re-examined Cindy's early adult life was marked by what her community celebrated as success: marriage to her high school sweetheart, good jobs, a dream house with luxury amenities, and busy, achievement-packed schedules for their four children. Despite following what seemed like a “formulaic path,” she and her husband felt empty and exhausted. Their faith, although present, was largely intellectual and routine—church attendance and mealtime prayers—but lacked genuine heart engagement. The turning point came when brave friends challenged them to question, “Where is God in all of this?” This gentle but persistent questioning—along with new friendships, books, and volunteer work—sparked a series of soul-searching prayers: Were they truly living out what they professed to believe? What might God be asking of them that they'd never considered? Small Steps Lead to Big Changes Change didn't happen overnight. Cindy and her husband began with small, tangible acts of obedience, like reaching out to a homeless family from their child's classroom—a move that transformed their understanding of compassion and shifted their mindset from “helper” to “learner.” These steps emboldened them to pursue adoption, welcoming a daughter from Guatemala. The process opened their eyes further to global poverty and injustice, stirring a passion for others that wouldn't have developed in their comfortable status quo. A defining lesson came as they downsized their home—moving from their “dream house” to the “little brown mansion.” This reduction in material possessions brought unexpected peace and joy, as it freed up energy, time, and resources for giving and serving. Most importantly, Cindy observed the positive impact such choices had on their children, making them more resilient, empathetic, and adept at hearing God's voice. The Heart of the Lesson: Simplicity Isn't Poverty—It's Purpose Cindy insists her story isn't prescriptive—not everyone is called to move overseas or adopt a child. A Quebec man says he was put in a jail cell for nearly two hours after the U.S. Coast Guard accused him of fishing in American waters; and, an American Christian musician with ties to the MAGA movement has seen several concerts cancelled or moved after several venues cancelled his booking.

From 2020 to 2025 the Barna Polling Agency conducted 15 minute polls on nearly 18,000 Americans and their worldview. Recently Barna published the results of that poll and displayed the percentages of population that embraces a Christian worldview. The results are both shocking and fascinating. I work through all 50 states and humorously muse aloud on the results. Which region is the most Christian? Least? What are some of the surprises? In the show's cultural-assessment opening I discuss the election campaign of Zohran Mamdani, a young Muslim running for mayor in NYC. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Nigerian Muslims slaughtered 27 Christians including 3-year-old girl At 3:00 a.m. on July 15th, the Christian village of Bindi near Jos in the Plateau State in Nigeria, was plunged into a nightmare. Twenty-seven Christians were slaughtered, including a 3-year-old girl and nine members of Pastor Davou Musa's family, burned alive in their home, reports TruthNigeria.com. These attacks are not isolated incidents. They are part of a coordinated, radical Islamic campaign carried out by Fulani terrorists, with a mission to eradicate Christians from Nigeria and establish a Muslim caliphate. The perpetrators shouted “Allahu Akbar” as they hacked, shot, and burned families alive. One pastor shed light on what that Arabic phrase means. PASTOR: “Allah Akbar. Some will translate that as ‘God is great.' ‘ Perhaps a better translation of that Arabic phrase is, ‘Our God is greater.' This is a declaration that the demon and demons working through these people consider themselves to be greater than Jesus Christ, the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. “Ephesians 6:[12] says that our war is not just ‘against flesh and blood, but powers, principalities and spirits.' Practically, what this means is, when you see conflict in the seen realm, there is far greater conflict in the unseen realm. And when you hear, ‘Our God is greater,' that is a declaration of spiritual warfare from a demon against Jesus Christ, the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob.” And where was the military? Just two miles away, but they arrived two hours late, a disturbing pattern of complicity that Christians have endured over and over again. Huckabee rebukes attackers of Christian church in Palestinian town U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee condemned recent attacks on a Christian village and its historic church in the West Bank, calling them “a crime against humanity and God,” reports The Christian Post. His statement came after visiting the site of the arson and ongoing harassment. Huckabee travelled Saturday to Taybeh, a Christian Palestinian town that residents say has endured a wave of assaults by Israeli settlers in recent weeks, according to The Times of Israel.  The attacks include a fire set near the ruins of the Church of St. George, which church leaders described as among the most severe incidents to date. As producers of a new reality show “Back to the Frontier” which premiered on July 10th, they sparked backlash for casting a homosexual male couple. A source close to Chip and Joanna – who cast a faux-married couple Jason Hanna and Joe Riggs and their 10-year-old twin sons through surrogacy – says they have long affirmed perversion. Conservative Christian leaders like Reverend Franklin Graham and podcaster Allie Beth Stuckey both slammed their decision, with Graham calling the casting “very disappointing.”  Graham was clear in his stance, writing: “His Word is absolute truth. God loves us, and His design for marriage is between one man and one woman.” This prompted Chip to pour gasoline on the controversy by tweeting: “The way of ‘modern American Christian culture' is ‘Judge 1st, understand later/never.' ”  Christian author Matt Walsh replied, “Maybe you should endeavor to understand the basic moral teachings of your own alleged religion before you give lectures to other people about their lack of understanding.” And Robby Starbuck, another Christian influencer, said, “Promoting this show means cash is greater than Christianity. When you reduce it to that simple truth, it's eye opening. I hope you correct course Chip. ‘For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Three of those years were in solitary confinement thirty feet underground. The communists tried everything to break him, torture, starvation, psychological warfare, but they couldn't stop him from speaking about his Savior.When they released him in 1964, you might think he would have quietly lived out his remaining years in peace. After all, he had already paid a tremendous price for his faith. But that's not what happened.Instead, Wurmbrand wrote "Tortured for Christ" and began traveling the world, telling everyone about the underground church behind the Iron Curtain. Here was a man who had every reason to be bitter, every excuse to give up on ministry, but instead he said something that has stuck with me: "The cruelest thing you can do to a Christian is to make him comfortable."Wurmbrand understood what Peter and John understood in our text. De Girolami on his piece published in the Oxford Journal of Law & Religion covering the life and death of law and religion. Read it here. What's up theology nerds! When we lost the legendary Walter Brueggemann, I knew we had to do a proper tribute to one of the most influential biblical scholars of our time. I'm joined by Bo and Rolf Jacobson from Luther Seminary for a deep dive into Walter's life and work - this is the guy who somehow managed to have both mega-nerd street cred in the academy AND pastors across the country whose preaching was transformed by his books. We explore how Walter revolutionized biblical theology by showing us a God who's relational, passionate, and takes sides (goodbye, distant philosophical absolutes), his famous disagreements with Terence Fretheim about divine freedom versus fidelity, and how "The Prophetic Imagination" is really about hope and alternative consciousness, not scolding people. Rolf shares incredible stories about Walter's pastoral heart, we discuss his brilliant interdisciplinary work that connected everything from Paul Ricoeur to economic theory, and we talk about his scathing critique of American capitalism (the golden calf in front of Wall Street is basically God trolling American Christians about their idolatry).
