Down deep under the waves our heroes find themselves invited to lovely tea party. Tea sounds good considering they have no idea why they are there.
This is a recording of a live episode from Sea Tea Improv in Hartford, Connecticut, back in March. Julia and Rider are joined by special guests curator Mallory Howard of the Mark Twain House & Museum and librarian Gwen Glazer of the Croton Free Library -- and Tod's disembodied head joining virtually. Rules? In Improv? I thought Improv was about breaking the Rules and making it up as you go along?! Good point, me, but you can't break the Rules unless you know them! Touche, also me! In this episode Brian and Matt discuss the 5 Rules of Improv according to Sea Tea Comedy Theater, where they both teach and perform. Find out all of Brian & Matt's opinions on Improv, or at least the 5 Rules of Improv, in 15 minutes.
Episode Notes This very special episode is "The Traditional Reading of the Unaddressed Problems & Confessions"!Here’s how we got here:As audience members stream into the theater for this show, they’re given a piece of paper where they can write down their name to be a judge, a problem that we may address in the show, and a confession that must remain anonymous. At the end of the night, I read these problems and confessions, and THAT’S what you’re about to hear. It’ll be the combined audio from July, August, November, and December of 2018.Now, you should know, there may be profanity and direct references to adult themes, which is why you're here in the first place, but y’know, disclaimers. This episode was brought to you by Frank Tavares! To do a show about local stand-up comedy, we figured we should probably do a show of local stand-up comedy. So we went to a comedy club, put on a comedy show, and then did a talk show about the comedy show we'd just done. This hour: some of said comedy show plus most of said talk show -- and we're fairly confident it'll make more sense when you hear it than it probably just did reading about it.Support the show: http://www.wnpr.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Sea Tea Improv Comedy Theater (seateaimprov.com) has established itself quite solidly during its time in Hartford, providing improv and stand-up comedy to some of the area's top performers. Julia Pistell is currently the managing director, and one of the group's performers, of Sea Tea, and spoke to me about her path to improv and how the principles of improv can impact people off stage. Really great stuff. #seatea #seateaimprov #improv #comedy #standup

Julia Pistell gets Briana Haynie to talk about having allergies (all of them), old sitcoms (but mostly just 30 Rock), “burning the puppet” (Sea Tea slang for the first time you’re in a show that doesn’t go quite right), breaking badly (in a good way), and old wrestling (but mostly Chris Jericho). The post Meet Briana! appeared first on Sea Tea Improv.
