This year, I made it a point to weave in some Tea Dance-style tracks to break up the monotony of the tribal-heavy set. Let's be honest, a lot of what's been coming out in this space lately is straight-up uninspired — poor mastering, weak vocals, and a glaring lack of creativity compared to the pioneers of the genre. It's like everyone's copy-pasting the same blueprint, trying to force a square peg into a round hole. If you're going to sell your work on Bandcamp for $5 to $6 a pop, step up your game. Stop churning out the same recycled formula. That said, I've been leaning more toward Henriq Moraes, who, at the very least, brings solid production values and avoids that annoying high-pitched sound you hear too often these days. His remixes are fresh, varied, and don't feel like the same song on repeat. There are a few other producers I keep my eye on, but they're not as prolific. Even so, Henriq isn't pumping out new tracks every week, which is how it should be if you want quality. Mor Avrahami continues to bring the heat with his remixes, as does Dirty Disco. These guys know how to keep it fresh and exciting. But let's not forget the legends still out there touring, remixing, and schooling the next generation. I'm talking about the likes of Danny Verde, Cajjmere Wray, Nick Harvey, and other masters of the craft. Their experience shows in the style, hooks, and embellishments they add to their remixes. These touches are what separate a "meh" track from one that slays. Standout Moments & Must-Listen Tracks Speaking of Danny Verde and Tom Stephan — these two veteran producers joined forces to reimagine Lady Gaga's "Disease," and the result is nothing short of masterful. While there's no shortage of mediocre (and outright bad) remixes of this track, their darker, moodier approach cuts through the noise. The remix leans into a shadowy, underground vibe, amplifying the song's raw intensity. The undeniable hook pulls you in from the jump and refuses to let go, making their version a clear standout in a sea of forgettable attempts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKE3sIOHH60 On a related note, Nick Harvey recently dropped an entire EP of remixes for "Stand Up" by Suzanne Palmer. I didn't even know he was still active in the scene! Both versions are stellar, but I had to roll with Eddie's for nostalgia's sake.

The September '24 edition of UP! has a nice blend of house, pop, club and circuit remixes featured on it. It's great to hear some new mixes from Danny Verde. He features two here for Raye and Ofenbach respectively. Billy Porter has a great new song "Leap" mixed here by the always amazing Wayne G. & Andy Allder. Division 4 has covered the classic "Young Hearts Run Free" and Anastacia gives an inspired cover of "Forever Young". Russ Rich & Andy Allder turn in a beautiful mix of Taylor Swift's "Down Bad" and Roberto Ferrari's track "Never Forget" is a club banger. The back end of the set features new music from Katy Perry, Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars and Dario Xavier delivers a beautiful mix of Benson Boone's "Beautiful Things" to close out the set. It's time for the men to show out. This brings us to the 19th edition of the men series - focusing on all male artist , specifically with an LGBTQ leaning. This set is filled with classic tracks from the 80's, 90's and beyond all with updated, floor filling remixes. The set starts out in the vocal house arena before quickly planting itself in the club/circuit/big room arena. I wanted this edition to have drive and energy with a focus on uplifting vocals delivering a positive message. There are repurposed tracks from George Michael, Queen, Tears For Fears and Journey mixed in with modern tracks from Troye Sivan, Billy Porter, Lil' Nas X and Jeff Satur. WHAT'S HOT NOW As usual, this set features alternate versions of previously featured tracks like the super hot "Say So" by Doja Cat, which I had already picked to be one of the biggest tracks of the summer. While the hot temps are already here — summer hasn't even officially begun and yet this song has been perched atop the Billboard's Top 100 for a couple of weeks now. With its funky, feel-good disco build a slew of remixes have finally been commissioned for it with the Division 4 & Matt Consola version featured here. We've got an amazing mashup of The Weeknd's massive "Blinding Lights" with Otto Knows "Million Voices," which was perfectly executed by DJs from Mars. The classic electro house track "Let Me Think About It" by Fredde Le Grand and Ida Corr get's a modern era rework and even Mr. Probz massive "Waves" from a few years back gets its own special treatment by J Bruus & James Jay. Saint Jhn's "Roses," which has been sitting atop Billboard's Hot Dance Electronic Songs finally gets some floor-friendly remixes with the Imanbek remix featured here. Kelly Clarkson surprises with a new and unexpected new track "I Dare You," which under normal circumstances would be galloping it's way to the #1 spot on the Dance Club charts. Alan Walker puts out a sequel to his 2016 hit "Alone" with Ava Max doing vocal duties aptly titled "Alone pt.2"  and the superb collaboration between Major Lazer and Marcus Mumford (of Mumford and Sons) "Lay Your Head On Me" is so exquisite that even I'm surprised out well Mumford's vocals translate over to EDM in this soon to be summer smash. The woman has released what should have been her breakthrough album "Future Nostalgia" in the U.S. Folks, this is a solid album from the pop princess and while "Don't Start Now" has been a smash by any standard, the subsequent singles "Physical" and the more recent "Break My Heart" are not getting the attention they deserve. Most of this is due to the fact that she can't go out and tour to promote the album until (hopefully) January 2021. Party Favorz is in awe of Miss Lipa and frankly she's poised to take over Rihanna's thrown (who is not likely conceding anytime soon). The Easter Beagle has arrived and is delivering a basket full of circuit and anthems with a smattering of t-dance funky house delights to lighten the load. This set is packed with the biggest circuit tribal house tracks that will energize your at home workouts with massive favorites like "Kings & Queens" by Ava Max — a song so good that I included two remixes by Jack Chang and Danny Verde. Guy Scheiman teams up with the immortal Alan T and delivers the sizzling, timely, and camp track #Stay the Fuk Home. The song is so deliberate that you just want to break the quarantine and mix it up on the floor. Tonight's quarantine is to continue in the following fashion. Speaking of Disco, Alex Newell has a smoking hot track that just dropped called "Boy, You Can Keep It." This is one of my current favs but instead of delivering the amazing disco rework by Tracy Young — I used the darker Chus & Ceballos remix, which delivers sexually ambiguous vocals (a technique made famous by Zhu years ago) so much so that you'd never recognize it. The song hasn't even charted yet, so Tracy's uplifting version will appear in a future Dance Club set. Another personal favorite, is Halsey's "You Should Be Sad," which in the hands of Yinon Yahel (who makes several appearances here) is a slice of circuit heaven if not for the fact that it's too short but I'll take it. The other is her latest, which is an unlikely cover of the Heart classic rock track "Barracuda." Kristine definitely has the muscular vocals to take on Ann Wilson and I applaud her choice in this selection but as someone who is a massive fan of the Wilson sisters, it's difficult for me to separate the two. Still, the song comes with a bevy of remixes with Dinaire + Bissen delivering the most commercial version. For this set, I went with Tony Moran's remix. Don't be surprised when some other DJ remixes the original in the next six months, which would be interesting. Once again, the boys from Houston (Dirty Disco) deliver another stellar yet unexpected remix of an old school gay icon — Miss Patsy Cline. Remixing "Walking After Midnight" by this country crooner who has a massive gay following must have been a challenge but the end result paid off BIG TIME. They also turn in another delectable remix of Dua Lipa's latest "Break My Heart." Finally, one of Party Favorz all-time favorite DIVAS, Miss Diana Ross has racked up yet another #1 on the Billboard's Dance Club chart for "Love Hangover," which peaked on the Disco charts back in 1976 and appears here with Ralphi Rosario doing the remix honors. I'm also seeing a lot of classic tracks and/or modern-day reworks of the originals in my DJ services — meaning, fewer new releases. It’s been a couple of months since my last podcast. I took this year off from doing a June pride edition to recover from a car break-in, during which my laptop and bunch of my music were stolen. It sucks that we live in a world where people feel the need to steal, but I justify it by telling myself that they must’ve needed my belongings more than I did. Hey, there’s a silver lining to everything, right? However, I didn’t take June off from making new music. This high-energy mid-summer podcast contains my take on Carly Rae Jepsen’s summer 2017 jam – “Cut To The Feeling” – done in conjunction with my tireless production partner, George Figares. You’ll also hear another new remix that’s very special to me — my take on an anthem called “Faces” by an incredibly talented NYC-based singer named Mila Jam. Her soaring vocals send a message about staying true to your authentic self. Look for the release soon on iTunes and other digital retailers. I’m honored to be part of the remix package for Dirty Pop’s new single — “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” — a remake from the soundtrack to the movie “Mannequin” 30 years ago, which is currently climbing the Billboard dance charts! The update by DrewG and Brian Cua features new vocals by Taylor Olson & Jackie Orlando. However, rather than using my own remix on this podcast, I’ve included the remix by Israeli DJ Guy Scheiman.
