Twenty years ago, Greg Holder left corporate America because of an unyielding ache to make a difference. Since then, Greg has been lead pastor of The Crossing, non-denominational church, passionately calling tens of thousands of people from a diverse spiritual backgrounds to consider what it means to follow Jesus in today's world. Today, Greg shares how many slowly, over-time begin to lead less satisfying, less fulfilling, less hopeful lives and how to break that cycle. This conversation will remind you that your life has significance and you have the potential to change the world through your life’s impact. SHOW NOTES: Over 20 years ago, Greg left corporate after being called to be a pastor because of a longing desire to make a difference. We're living in a VUCA - volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguious - world. “People are longing for a world view that gives us a way out of a VUCA world, while acknowledging we’re in it.” Here I stand, I can do no other. Greg leans on his trusted community to collaborate when he’s being called into something more. Faith is not living in denial. Desire to flourish yet accept settling: We play it safe and surround ourselves with people exactly like us and attempt to blend in by being ghosts of ourselves because we forget we were made to make a difference. It’s not doubt that’s toxic to faith. It’s silence. By getting permission to ask hard questions, particularly in faith, Greg has been able to explore the answers, even when their may not be “answers”. “My dad left a legacy that I don’t think he fully appreciated. He set off so many chain reactions of love and goodness.” Spend less, give more. As part of Advent Conspiracy movement, thousands of people have chosen to celebrate Christmas in a counter-cultural way. Greg shares the story of a son who gifted his dad coffee beans with a note requesting they only drink the coffee together while having meaningful conversations. The open-handed generosity + hospitality Greg recieved while doing mission work around the globe has been life-changing for him. "I’ve been on the receiving end of meals that I know cost more than any meal I’ve served to a guest. That’s as humbling as it gets." Cultivate a culture of listening. In these particular days, Greg seeks to continue to learn by having conversations where truth can be spoken and where we listen to each other. Learn more about Greg Holder here. SHOW NOTES Over the past month, I had a few amazing cases come into my office. These cases were classic, in that I’ve seen a lot of them, but they’re often times odd for the patient to understand. The correction was not even remotely close to the area of pain. These three cases made me wish I had more content to assist the public in their understanding of other possible reasons why their son or daughter’s foot, knee or groin pain is not going away with standard physical therapy, why their MRIs are negative despite continued disability and why their sports doctor has no idea what to do with them. (Sorry guys… nothing against any profession, but that’s just the story they tell me.) These athletes stories all had something in common… off-loading of their symptomatic limb during a squat test. In other words, they had crooked squats. In all of these cases, the first correction I made was to “even out” their squat. Low and behold, they felt better within a matter of minutes and this reduction remained for days to follow! I picked the “low hanging fruit” found within their examination. The key was not getting caught up in solely investigating in the region of pain or where the patient was pointing to. Each person was very different in their presentation, which is interesting in itself, because their regions of pain (the diagnoses) would be very different by definition. Groin Pain Knee Pain Foot/ Arch Pain After we made the needed correction, they all had questions about WHY this worked. Why did improving their squats yield 50-75% reduction of symptoms within one session? Great question! As I explained the theory of WHY the correction working in their case, I started to wish I had something I could share with them, hence this podcast. So here we are! SHOW NOTES Over the past two decades, Doug has led multiple companies to success including a financial services company where it went from a small sole proprietorship in 1997 to its 2008, 2009 and 2010 selection by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest-growing private companies in America. Ranked No. 408 in ’08 on the Inc. 5000 list, that company has risen to become a major employer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and is recognized nationally as a leader in the financial services industry. Doug grew up in rural East Texas and relocated to the Dallas area in the 1990's. Married at 19, Doug worked in the automotive and mobile electronics industries where he made a name for himself as a hardworking, honest, and customer-oriented professional. After a major accident, he soon experienced the financial strain that occurs when faced with growing expenses and worsening credit. He came to understand – via his firsthand experience – that anyone in today’s society, regardless of income or education, can come to financial ruin without an understanding of our credit system and knowledge of how to make it work for them rather than against them. With resolve and attention to detail, Doug carefully investigated the ways to 6improve his credit score and, most importantly, educated himself on how to maintain it once regained. It is a detailed process, and Doug soon found himelf helping others to improve their scores and teaching them how to maintain excellent credit. In 1997 he founded RMCN Credit Services, Inc. Along the way, one of his employees, James Penny, introduced Doug to Ambit Energy in the Fall of 2013. "I was very impressed by the growth of Ambit in such a short period of time and the amount of commissions paid out to the consultants," says Doug. Doug shares that he started his Ambit business to create an "additional stream of income that can cover ALL of my monthly expenses including two children going to college…" Listen and Learn: Why the speed of the leader, is the speed of the team Discover how segregation of duties and cross training work together Why defined goals are imperative How to ask your clients for organic reviews Why referrals are the best kind of marketing TO FIND DOUG ON LINKEDIN, CLICK HERE.
