I'll give you a shout out or answer your question on a future episode. Many times my guests and I have discussed the importance of having good tools to work with in the kitchen. As with any art form, the tools you use to practice the art of home will have a direct impact on the quality of your work. That's not to say you can't get good results with poor tools, but you will have to work a lot harder to get those results. In this Monday Motivation, I'm sharing my suggestions for essential kitchen tools that are worth the splurge for higher quality. What if your greatest setback became your biggest calling? There are some moments in life that just stop you in your tracks—and this conversation is one of them. I sat down with Dan and Andrea Kotter, a couple whose journey through tragedy, faith, resilience, and relentless love has inspired me to my core. Dan fell 35 feet off a roof and was left paralyzed from the waist down. Andrea met him after the accident, while going through her own unimaginable heartbreak. But neither of them let their pain define them—they chose to build something even greater instead. This isn't just a story about surviving. It's about rebuilding—physically, emotionally, spiritually. Dan could have given up. Instead, he pushed through years of surgeries, chronic pain, and loss, while Andrea stood by his side, not seeing the wheelchair, but the strength that conquered it. They've blended families, faced down trauma, and raised six incredible kids, all while showing up on social media to shine light into other people's darkness. We talked about what it really takes to choose joy when life hands you suffering. How faith—real, grounded, daily faith—can carry you through when nothing else makes sense. How sometimes your life falling apart is exactly what's needed to put you on the path you were meant for. And how you don't need some “perfect” story to make a difference—your real life is enough. Their content has saved lives. It's made broken dads rethink fatherhood. It's helped people believe in God again. That's the power of two people showing up, being honest, and refusing to quit. Dan and Andrea reminded me—and will remind you—that no matter what you're facing, you've got more in you than you think. And you're never alone in the fight. Key Takeaways: The life-changing moment that left Dan paralyzed—and how he chose to respond. Andrea's decision to love a man in a wheelchair after her own heartbreaking trauma. The unshakable role of faith in their healing, growth, and purpose. How authentic social media content can literally save lives. Why real strength means showing up in the struggle, not hiding it. Listen now and share this with someone who needs a reminder that their story still matters. MAX OUT.
What Would You Do If You Were Shot Eight Times? Today, I sat across from a man who shouldn't even be alive. Marcus Stanley was shot eight times at point-blank range, left for dead in the street, and in that moment, he saw what he believes was an angel standing between him and every bullet. I needed you to hear from this man because Marcus isn't just here to tell a story about survival—he's here to remind us what it means to keep going when everything around you says it's over. Marcus and I talk about the dark years that followed his shooting, years where painkillers turned into addiction, and addiction turned into heroin. We talked about what it feels like when your life gets blown apart, and you have to learn how to walk again, literally and spiritually. Marcus told me it was forgiveness—real, hard, gut-wrenching forgiveness—that unlocked his freedom, even though the men who tried to kill him never paid for what they did. And you'll hear how Marcus went from a man chasing fame as a musician to a man who wakes up every day asking, “How can I serve?” His faith became real not in the moment he was shot, but in the quiet, hidden years of service and surrender afterward, staying in a treatment center for four years to help others with no pay, no spotlight, just a calling to be there for the one person who might need hope that day. Marcus' story isn't about surviving a tragedy; it's about what you do after you survive. It's about taking one more step when you don't know if you can, believing that God's not done with you yet, and choosing gratitude for every breath, every step, even if you feel pain with each one. I want you to hear this conversation because if you're feeling like you're on your back right now, Marcus' journey will remind you that you're never alone, and you can get back up. Why Marcus believes forgiveness was the key that broke his chains of addiction What it felt like to see an angel while being shot at point-blank range The hidden years of service that shaped Marcus into the man he is today How to find hope and take one more step, even when you feel you can't Why your suffering can produce endurance, character, and hope if you let it Key Takeaways: If you've ever questioned whether God is with you in your lowest moments, or if you're carrying your own scars—Marcus' story is your reminder that you are held, you are loved, and you are here for a reason. Share this with someone who needs to know it's not over. God bless you.

In this fiery and heartfelt episode of the FWACATA podcast, Juan dives into something that's been gnawing at his soul: the soul-crushing apathy many folks are clinging to in the face of horror. From Gaza to ICE raids, from flood zone tragedies to TikTok indifference, we're living in a world where not choosing is becoming its own kind of evil.Juan shares a raw convo with an old friend—actor, comedian, fellow chaos juggler—about the plague of “I'm not political” energy infecting people who should know better. Whether it's fear of being wrong or just the comfort of not being inconvenienced, that middle-of-the-road numbness is exactly what the worst people in power are counting on.This isn't about left or right. This is about right and wrong. About being human. About choosing to care, even when it hurts. And about not waiting until the heat's too high to realize you're the frog in the pot.Yeah, there's some yelling. Yeah, there's swearing. Yeah, there's a solid reminder that artists and actors can be full of it, too. But underneath it all, this episode is a love letter to everyone who does give a damn—and a challenge to those who don't.
HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to another episode of No More Excuses! In today's episode, I talk about how marketing isn't optional if you want to grow your business. If people don't know you exist, they can't hire you, refer you, or support you. Yet many business owners hide behind excuses: “I don't have time,” “I'm not good at social media,” or “I don't know what to post.” Those are choices, not facts. EXCUSES not reasons! Here are 3 ways to start marketing in a way that actually moves the needle: Show up consistently. Visibility is currency. Pick one platform where your audience is, and commit to posting regularly—tips, behind-the-scenes, or client wins. Educate, don't just sell. Share your knowledge, answer FAQs, and post stories of client wins to build trust and credibility. Ask for engagement. Don't talk at your audience—invite them to comment, vote, or DM you. Conversations build relationships, which lead to sales. My CHALLENGE to you today: Start with ONE of these actions this week. Remember, marketing doesn't have to be complicated—it just needs to be consistent and authentic. Report back or email me at Sandi@SandiBallard.com and tell me what you are focusing on and how! No more excuses!

It's Monday so we start the week with a simple little prayer, a Monday Motivation from Mark, and more free stuff (new AC unit, goodies for the office, and more). Plus, a positive difference story about a dad who just wanted to help others find some good books.
Welcome to another short but empowering episode of Monday Motivation, giving you a dose of inspiration as you head into your week... Three simple, practical ways to share your light and make a difference today. How embracing and sharing your journey can deepen self-compassion and connection. Listen in and discover how small acts of courage — like speaking your truth — can help someone feel less alone and bring you closer to living your dream life, whatever that means to you. As always, I’d LOVE to hear what resonates with you from this episode and what you plan to implement after listening in. So please share and let’s keep the conversation going in the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here. Have a wonderful week …and remember, it all starts with a dream

Have you ever thought about how one word from you could shift someone's entire day, maybe even their life? In this episode, I break down what it truly means to become an encourager and why the world desperately needs you to step into that role. This isn't about throwing out empty praise or casual compliments. It's about choosing to infuse courage into others with honesty, specificity, and presence, and in the process, watch your own confidence and self-esteem rise. I share why encouragement is “oxygen for the soul,” how it creates ripple effects far beyond what you see, and how it becomes a seedbed for your relationships, your leadership, and your purpose. We talk about how encouragement isn't tied to someone's results but to their effort and character, and why you need to be the person who notices and speaks into the small moments others overlook. It's not just about making people feel good; it's about transferring belief and equipping people to believe they can take the next step in their climb, even when they can't see the top of the ladder themselves. If you want to stand out in a world full of critics, this episode will call you up to be different. This is your moment to decide to become the kind of person who changes lives, one conversation at a time. Key Takeaways: Why encouragement is about “infusing courage” and not just complimenting others How encouragement builds your own self-esteem while lifting others The difference between flattery and authentic encouragement How to encourage effort and character, not just results The ripple effect of becoming an encourager in your family, friendships, and business Practical examples of encouragement that build others' belief in themselves When you finish this episode, choose one person to encourage today. Watch how it changes them—and how it changes you. Max out.

That nagging feeling of unworthiness—even when you're doing the work—can quietly sabotage your joy, relationships, and momentum. In this episode, Brendon breaks down why that feeling persists and how to finally overcome it by filling the three essential "buckets" of self-worth. Through powerful insight and actionable guidance, you'll discover: Self-Value: Learn how to shift your internal dialogue to build genuine self-respect and inner strength. Self-Competence: How honoring your word and following through on promises builds integrity and personal pride. Inherent Worth: Why your worth doesn't have to be earned—and how to anchor into it so you don't disconnect from your vision and future. _____________________________________ This episode is a must-listen for anyone who feels like they're constantly striving but never fully arriving. Are you living 90% of your life on repeat? What if the relentless chase for achievement is robbing you of the joy you're working so hard to find? In this conversation with Dr. Tiffany Moon, we unpack what happens when you hit all the milestones, check all the boxes, and still feel something's missing. She's a board-certified anesthesiologist, entrepreneur, mom of twins—and yes, you might know her from The Real Housewives of Dallas—but today, you'll get to see the side of her that's about living fully, not just performing perfectly. Tiffany shares how the pressure to be perfect nearly drained her of laughter and real connection, and what it took to reclaim her joy. We talk about what it's like to break free from family and cultural conditioning that says you're only loved when you're achieving, and how learning to embrace small moments—rolling on the floor with your kids, taking walks, having deep conversations—can transform how you feel about your life without sacrificing ambition. We also hit on the fear of trying something new when you're already “good” at what you do, why we say no to opportunities that could open up our lives, and how stepping out of your lane doesn't mean failure, it means growth. Tiffany shares her experience from the O.R. to the Housewives stage and the mindset shift that allowed her to stop suffocating joy in the name of control. You don't have to abandon your drive to be excellent, but you do need to learn how to find joy while you're achieving, not after. If you've been running on empty while chasing “success,” this conversation will remind you to slow down, breathe, and remember how far you've already come. Key Takeaways: Why achievement alone doesn't equal fulfillment—and what actually does The cost of saying “no” too quickly and how to open yourself to new experiences How to break free from the pressure to be perfect so you can actually live Why small moments of connection can fuel your ambition, not hinder it The power of embracing pockets of joy in the middle of your climb Let's stop running the same chapter over and over. Your life is worth living fully, not just perfectly. Let's get it.
Hey hey kids—yes, it's another slightly-late-but-definitely-worth-it episode of the FWACATA Monday Motivation Podcast. I know, I know… we missed last week. But it's summer, and without the structure of a school week, I've entered that magical zone where time is fake and weekends are theoretical. So what's today's sermon from the Church of FWACATA? Simple: check your expectations before they wreck your attitude. This week I talk about how something as dumb as traffic, a melted cheeseburger, and a detour involving a pony (yes, an actual pony) can either ruin your day—or make it a reminder that life's pretty damn good.We often get mad because things don't go the way we expected. Not because something actually terrible happened, but because we created some fantasy version of reality and got mad when the real world didn't follow the script. El Paso summer heat? Inevitable. Traffic on I-10? Of course. But somehow, we still let that stuff light our fuse like it's some injustice. But here's the thing: the difference between a good day and a meltdown is sometimes just catching yourself before you go full a-hole.So this episode? It's about petting ponies, swearing at traffic, embracing your inner idiot, and being okay with admitting when you're being the problem. You'll laugh. You'll maybe wince in recognition. And you'll (hopefully) start your week off a little more grounded, a little more grateful, and a little less likely to scream at the guy in line at the post office.

In a world that constantly pushes doubt, fear, and self-criticism, the real growth begins the moment you start believing again—believing in your worth, your potential, and your future. In this uplifting episode, Brendon dives into why faith isn't just a spiritual concept—it's a strategy for personal development and lifelong fulfillment: Have Faith in Yourself – Speak to yourself with intention, power, and kindness—because your words shape your identity. Have Faith in Others – Strengthen your relationships and leadership by choosing belief over judgment. Have Faith in Your Future – Reignite your dreams and take aligned action, even in uncertain times. _____________________________________ Whether you're in a season of self-doubt or looking to reconnect with your inner power, this episode will inspire you to build a deeper foundation of self-trust—and begin your next chapter with clarity and confidence. _____________________________________ Life-Changing Resources: Become a GrowthDay member to unlock daily motivational audio from Brendon, weekly training from the world's top coaches and experts, exclusive Monday Motivation from Ed Mylett, Brendon AI, and over $5,000 of courses! https://growthday.go.link/hsAqg Download Brendon's famous 1-Page Productivity Guide: https://www.growthday.com/pdf-g ✨ Subscribe now and start your journey to a more fulfilling life! _____________________________________ Follow for more motivation: Instagram: @brendonburchard / @growthday YouTube: @BrendonBurchard / @GrowthDayMotivation Facebook: Brendon Burchard / GrowthDay _____________________________________ Don't forget to leave a review and share this episode with someone who needs to hear this!
Remember being little, and how natural it was to dive fully into life? We raised our hands when questions were asked, made best friends with everyone on the playground and were the first ones in and last ones out of the pool. Then we got a bit older. We stopped raising our hands quite as much. We stopped opening up to others. Heck, not only did we stop being the first one in the pool, we stopped even wearing our swimsuits to pool parties! We started making more excuses and stopped being as active. Today's Monday Motivation will remind you of the boldness of youth, the joy of participation and the power of showing up with heart.
On this episode of Great Practice, Great Life®, Steve Riley welcomes Dre Baldwin, former professional basketball player, prolific author, and founder of Work on Your Game Inc. Dre shares how his career was shaped not just on the court, but at home, where his parents modeled daily discipline and quiet resilience that made him “too stupid to quit.” From an early age, Dre watched his parents show up for their responsibilities, day in and day out, regardless of how they felt. That consistency became the foundation of his own mindset: showing up was non-negotiable. It's a lesson he carried into his athletic career and beyond. When he didn't get drafted into the NBA, Dre pivoted. He found another path—one that required just as much discipline, and just as much resilience. Rather than see setbacks as failures, Dre treated them as invitations to grow. He began documenting his process and sharing videos online—before content creation was even a buzzword. As he continued to show up, his audience grew. His approach resonated not just with athletes, but with entrepreneurs, business professionals, and attorneys—anyone striving for consistency in the face of pressure. In this episode, Dre shares how he built a global platform rooted in daily execution and mental discipline. He talks about how a professional mindset—distinct from an amateur one—is the key to long-term results. Dre also introduces key ideas from his latest book, The Third Day, where he breaks down how to keep showing up when motivation runs dry. If you've ever felt burned out, unmotivated, or unsure how to push through, this episode is a must-listen. Dre Baldwin's Work on Your Game philosophy is a reminder that success isn't a moment—it's a practice. In this episode, you will hear: Dre Baldwin's transition from professional basketball player to influential content creator and coach Insights into the distinction between amateur and professional mindsets The role of resilience and creativity in overcoming challenges and achieving success The concept of “The Third Day” and its importance for consistent persistence and professional commitment The application of sports discipline and resilience to everyday life and professional settings The importance of personal development and using setbacks as opportunities for growth Dre's approach to content creation and engaging with a diverse audience beyond sports Catch Dre Baldwin live at this year's Summit! Dre will take the Atticus Summit stage as a keynote speaker with Work on Your Game: Apply the Pro Athlete Mindset at Work & in Life. In this engaging and inspiring session, you'll discover the Mental Game strategies Dre used to go from a benchwarmer to a professional—principles that apply not only at work, but also in the gym and in everyday life. You'll learn how to maximize productivity on “The Third Day,” leverage “Separation Days” to gain an edge over competitors, unlock your highest level of confidence through “The Super You,” prepare like the top 1% of achievers, and condition yourself to win like a champion athlete. Are You Trading Your Health for Your Hustle? I thought I had to grind nonstop to win, but what if taking care of yourself is actually the key to achieving more? In this conversation with Michelle Bang, we unpack why “self-care” isn't just a buzzword—it's a non-negotiable if you want to live well while you climb. Michelle's journey from landing in the emergency room at the height of her success to rediscovering ancient Korean wellness practices is a wake-up call for anyone who thinks they'll get around to health “later.” Michelle breaks down why something as simple as walking after dinner can transform your energy, why fermented foods like kimchi are more than trendy side dishes, and why traditional Korean bathhouses have been quietly reducing heart attacks for generations. We talk about healthspan—not just how long you live, but how well you live—and how embracing practices like daily movement, mindful nourishment, and building community can give you back the edge you need without burning out your body. She shares how she went from ignoring her gut health and running on fumes to reclaiming her vitality by reconnecting with the wisdom she grew up with in Korea and Hong Kong. It's a reminder that no level of achievement is worth trading your health for, and taking small, consistent steps now will let you actually enjoy the life you're building. I challenge you today: Audit your well-being while you're chasing your dreams. Could taking better care of yourself actually help you climb higher? You are the one person you're going to spend your entire life with—take care of you. Key Takeaways: Why self-care is essential, not optional, for high achievers. How daily walks can improve digestion, reduce glucose spikes, and enhance creativity. The gut-brain connection and why fermented foods matter. The impact of “healthspan” versus just living longer. How traditional Korean practices like “jjimjilbang” and the cultural value of “Jeong” can be applied to your life now. If this hits you where you're at right now, share this episode with someone who needs the reminder, and let's start taking care of the one person who's with us for life: ourselves.

Are you addicted to “more” and missing your life? I brought Courtney Carver on not just for you, but for me too. Because if you're like me—a climber, a high achiever—you probably feel that slowing down means you're falling behind. But what if I told you that you're not broken, and you don't need “more” to be enough? In this conversation, Courtney and I get honest about what it really means to rest first, to stop chasing a finish line you can't even define, and to start living here instead of waiting for “there.” We talk about the moments when your body starts rejecting your pace, your aggression, and your addiction to constant movement. I share what it felt like to sit by the ocean yet never look at it because I was glued to my phone, and how leaving that phone inside during a cigar break changed everything for me. Courtney shares the small, practical shifts that allowed her to simplify her life without blowing it up—and why rest isn't just sleep, but the small choices that allow you to reclaim your energy without guilt. We also get into why so many of us—especially achievers—avoid slowing down, and how we attach our identity to “more.” Courtney's take? You're not broken, you just need to redefine what enough looks like for you. We also talk about the hidden cost of constant advice-giving and how letting go of regret can unlock the energy you're leaking into the past so you can move forward with more clarity and peace. Why rest should come first—not last—and how this fuels better performance. How to take small, practical steps to simplify without losing your edge. Why your addiction to “more” might be stealing your peace and focus. How leaving your phone behind, even for an hour, can transform your presence. Are you protecting the lead—or playing to win? In this conversation, I sit down with my brother, Brendon Burchard, and we hit on something that every single one of us wrestles with at some point: how to reignite that competitive fire when it starts to flicker. Maybe you've achieved some success—you got that promotion, built a business, or hit a financial goal—and suddenly you realize, I'm playing not to lose instead of playing to win. That's a dangerous place to be, and Brendon and I break down exactly why it happens and how to flip the switch back on. We get real about what it means to measure up—not against others, but against your own capacity. That's what separates those who keep rising from those who stall out. We talk about how greats like LeBron James keep their edge and how you can apply that same mindset. It's not about the external competition anymore—it's about expanding who you are and setting your own standard. And that, my friends, is where true fulfillment lives. Brendon and I also share the practical steps that have kept us driven—like setting up new challenges on purpose, so you're not just reacting to life but directing it. If you're coasting right now, if you've been going through the motions, this episode will remind you to swing for the fences. Key takeaways from this episode: Why success can actually zap your drive—and how to get it back The danger of playing not to lose instead of playing to win How to shift from competing against others to competing against your own potential The secret power of setting your own challenges to fuel your momentum Why surrounding yourself with the right people can reignite your ambition Let's stop settling. Let's take that big swing. Let's chase those God-sized dreams together. Max out. And hey—if you want to experience this energy in person, come join us in Napa this July or in Scottsdale this fall. Are you feeling utterly drained, believing it's just the relentless pace of life? What if your burnout isn't about working too hard, but about hiding—hiding your true self, your assertiveness, and your inherent worth? In this powerful episode, Brendon Burchard uncovers the subtle ways we diminish ourselves, leading to exhaustion that no amount of rest can truly fix. It's time to stop shrinking and start shining. Brendon shares how to reclaim your power, assert your true value, and build an unshakeable sense of self-worth. You'll discover: Why if you don't assert yourself, you can't see what you're worth. We'll dive into how speaking your truth and standing for your value isn't aggressive—it's essential for self-recognition. How to stop judging yourself on your circumstances instead of your character. Your external situation doesn't define your inner strength or capabilities. It's time to shift your internal compass. Why worthiness is not guaranteed 100% of the time unless you're working towards it. This isn't about being perfect; it's about consistent self-acknowledgment and intentional action to build and maintain your sense of deserving. _____________________________________ If you're ready to stop the cycle of hidden burnout and step into your full, asserted power, this episode is a must-listen. BA Fam! We’re back at the Brown Table with your faves—Yaneli (aka MissBeHelpful) and Chris Browning catching up on all the things. Mandi shares some big news: her dad got a kidney (!!) and the story behind it will have you in your feels and thinking hard about health in our communities. Then we get into the heavy stuff—yes, the U.S. bombed Iran and what that could mean for your wallet (gas, inflation, cyberattacks... fun times). Plus, why financial content during global messes can feel icky real quick. We wrap with some NYC political tea and why we keep picking trash mayors. It’s giving heart, humor, and hella perspective—like we do.
Are you holding yourself back from leading at your highest level? In this incredible conversation, I sit down with my good friend Craig Groeschel—someone I admire deeply, not just for what he's accomplished, but for the man he is at his core. We get real about leadership—what it means to empower others, to listen, to ask better questions, and to build a culture that thrives whether you're in the room or not. Craig shares candidly about the lessons he's learned over nearly 30 years leading one of the largest churches in the country and launching the YouVersion Bible App that's impacted millions. One of the things that really hit home in this episode is how Craig talks about the shift from thinking leadership is about you to realizing it's about what happens when you're not there. We break down how great leaders give authority, not just tasks, and how that's the key to developing other leaders rather than creating followers. And yes, we go into the hard stuff—the criticism, the self-doubt, the moments where you feel like playing it safe. Craig doesn't shy away from those moments, and neither do I in this conversation. We also talk about something that's been huge for me this year—surrender. Craig shares what it really means to give up control where it's not ours to begin with, and why trusting God with the things we can't shape frees us to lead with greater courage and faith. This episode isn't about theory—it's about real tools you can put into practice starting today. How to shift from controlling to empowering so you can build leaders, not just followers. Why your effectiveness as a leader is measured by what happens when you're absent, not present. The habits that anchor Craig's leadership and how to create your own keystone habits. A fresh approach to giving and receiving feedback that builds trust and fuels growth. The difference between showing love and showing belief—and why your team (and family) needs both. How to handle self-doubt and stop playing it safe in your vision and leadership. What true surrender looks like in your leadership and life. Here's what you'll take away from this episode:If this conversation moves you the way it did me, do yourself a favor—share it, take action on it, and let it change the way you lead. Max out your life, my friends!

Are you letting indecision rob you of your destiny? In this episode, I'm getting real about something every one of us faces—but few of us feel truly prepared for: making difficult decisions. I walk you through the exact strategies that have helped me choose clarity over chaos in my life, even when the stakes were high and the path ahead was uncertain. Whether you're wrestling with a career move, a relationship choice, or any other major crossroad, this conversation will help you stop hesitating and start calling your shots. I share personal stories—like the time I chose to stay in California for my family's well-being, sacrificing millions financially, and later, why I made the move to Florida when life's conditions shifted. These weren't easy calls, but they taught me that not choosing is a choice in itself—one that can quietly steal your future. You'll hear how I separate emotion from logic, why stillness is key, and how to stop letting fear, ego, or the opinions of others dictate your path. This episode is all about owning your choices, even when you're unsure of the outcome. I give you practical tools like the “10-10-10” rule, values-based decision making, and the importance of internal alignment over external pressure. And if you're struggling right now, let me remind you: everything's going to be okay. Trust yourself, trust in God's guidance, and know that your destiny is shaped by the decisions you make today. Key takeaways from this episode: Why clarity comes from action, not endless thinking How to separate emotion from true inner guidance when making decisions The importance of aligning choices with your highest values, not ego or external validation Why it's okay—and smart—to change your mind as new information arises How to live with your decisions, learn from them, and move forward with confidence If this resonates with you, I ask just one thing: share this episode. Help someone else take that next step toward the life they deserve.
If you constantly feel overwhelmed, scattered, or like you're running in circles without real progress… it's not because you're broken—it's because you're reactive instead of intentional. In this powerful episode, Brendon Burchard calls out the silent trap that keeps high achievers stuck: getting too comfortable. When we settle, we stop striving. When we avoid discomfort, we disconnect from alignment, service, and true fulfillment. It's time to break free from the ease that's keeping you small—and reawaken the purpose that pulls you forward. Brendon shares how to realign with what matters, reignite your internal drive, and stop chasing tasks—and start chasing impact. You'll discover: How resentment quietly derails your dreams—and how to release it for good Why hope isn't naive—it's a decision that creates forward momentum How taking aligned risks reignites your purpose and positions you for long-term success _____________________________________ If you're ready to stop looking backward and start living forward, this episode will help you realign with your best self and your biggest vision. At the Brown Table this week, Mandi invites two brilliant voices: Elizabeth Ayoola, host of Smart Money by NerdWallet, and Haniyah Philogene, lifestyle reporter at TheGrio. They dive into the chaotic beauty of career pivots, being Black women in media, and the emotional labor of storytelling. We talk motherhood, dating, the cost of protective styles (spoiler: $400 braids are wild), and the complex feelings around Tyler Perry’s latest Netflix hit. The convo gets real on how Black trauma is marketed—and why we need more diverse storytelling for us, by us. We also chat about: What it really means to be "financially free" in your 30s The evolving landscape of Black journalism in a post-DEI world How social media impacts our timelines—literal and emotional Why storytelling is political, and who gets to shape the narrative Plus, Elizabeth breaks down how she got into personal finance with no journalism degree—and why she wants you to start investing (even if it’s just $5). And Haniyah gives us the inside scoop on Black consumer power, boycotts, and making sense of it all in your group chat. New here?Join us three times a week:
How Do You Turn Tragedy Into Triumph? In this unforgettable conversation, I sit down with Elizabeth Smart—a woman whose strength and grace have inspired millions. Elizabeth was kidnapped at knifepoint from her home at just 14 years old and endured nine months of unspeakable abuse. But what truly amazes me isn't just her survival—it's the extraordinary life she's built in the aftermath. In this episode, Elizabeth shares what it means to reclaim your life, how she's become a fierce protector of others, and the mindset that helped her move forward instead of staying trapped by trauma. Elizabeth opens up about those terrifying moments of captivity and the choice she made every day: don't give up. She shares what it took to move past fear and anger—not to excuse what was done to her—but to love herself enough to not let that pain define her life. We talk about forgiveness, and she explains it in a way that will stop you in your tracks: “Forgiveness is the greatest form of self-love because it allows you to leave the anger behind and move forward.” We also dive into how trauma leaves a mark—not just on your heart, but on your brain. Elizabeth reveals how she's worked to take her power back, from building a loving marriage to creating the Elizabeth Smart Foundation and Smart Defense, where women (and men) learn that they are stronger than they ever imagined. I loved how she said, “You are so powerful. You are much stronger than you think you are.” This episode isn't just about Elizabeth's story—it's about all of us. Whether you've faced your own trauma, or you're standing with someone who has, there's so much here about resilience, purpose, and hope. Elizabeth's courage will change the way you see your own challenges—and your ability to rise above them. Key takeaways from this episode: The real meaning of forgiveness and why it's a gift you give yourself. How to reclaim your power when trauma makes you feel powerless. Why open communication and unconditional love are the most important things you can offer your children. The importance of learning self-defense not just for protection, but for confidence. How to be the kind of person who says, “I believe you. I'm here for you,” when someone shares their pain. Let this conversation remind you that no matter what you've been through, your future can be brighter than your past. Share this episode with someone who needs it. Let's make a difference together. Are You Thinking Your Own Thoughts… Or Someone Else's? Let me ask you something—have you ever stopped to wonder if the thoughts you're thinking are actually yours? In this conversation, I sat down with Rebecca Lemov, a Harvard professor and author of The Instability of Truth, and what unfolded was a real eye-opener. We didn't just scratch the surface—we went into the guts of how we get conditioned to believe things about the world… and about ourselves… without even realizing it. Rebecca laid out something that really hit me: brainwashing doesn't start with someone else taking control of your mind—it begins when you stop asking questions. That moment when you stop challenging your beliefs, when you're scrolling, liking, agreeing without even knowing why—that's where it starts. She walked me through a chilling example: a Facebook study where they manipulated nearly 700,000 users' moods without their knowledge. That's real. That happened. And if that doesn't wake you up, I don't know what will. We also got personal. I shared how trauma—whether from rejection, heartbreak, or failure—can create space for a mind virus to take root. That voice in your head saying, “You're not good enough,” “You'll never succeed,”—that's not truth. That's programming. And unless you confront it, question it, and replace it, it'll trap you in a version of your life that's far smaller than what you were made for. Rebecca made it clear: being educated or intelligent doesn't make you immune—it might even make you more vulnerable. This episode isn't about conspiracy theories or pointing fingers—it's about ownership. About reclaiming your identity, your voice, your individuality. Don't go through life unknowingly living in someone else's version of who you're supposed to be. Don't meet God at the end and realize you lived someone else's life because you never questioned your own thoughts. You want to change your life? Start by challenging what you assume to be true. Start asking better questions. Key Takeaways: Brainwashing often starts from within—when you stop questioning your own thoughts. Trauma can open the door for limiting beliefs to become your internal truth. Social media algorithms are designed to manipulate your mood and feed confirmation bias. There are 8 classic signs of brainwashing, but the key one? Control over your environment. Intelligence doesn't protect you from mind control—it can deepen the illusion. Challenge your assumptions, and you can change your entire life trajectory. Let this be your wake-up call. You don't have to be part of a group to have value. You're not your past. You're not your trauma. You're an individual—and your thoughts matter.
What if the secret to longevity isn't luck—but how you show up? In this episode, I sit down with someone I've been wanting to interview for a long time—actor and now wellness entrepreneur, Josh Duhamel. You've seen him in everything from Transformers to Las Vegas to his latest hit Ransom Canyon. But this conversation goes beyond the screen. It's about the truth behind staying relevant, thriving in your 40s and 50s, and what it really means to lead—whether that's in your home, on set, or in your company. Josh opens up about the moments of self-doubt early in his career, the grind he still embraces, and how testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) helped him regain not just his energy, but his edge. We got real about aging, fatherhood, emotional strength, and the quiet confidence that comes from people believing in you—not just loving you. There's a big difference between the two. And whether you're leading a team or raising a family, that distinction can change everything. We also talk about masculinity in today's world—the evolving definition of what it means to be a man, and how important it is to stay grounded in spiritual connection. Josh talked about his circle of men who hold space for honest, vulnerable conversation and how that's shaped the way he leads and lives. He's not afraid to let people know he needs them, and that simple truth might just be the unlock for building loyalty, excellence, and connection in your team. This episode isn't just about fame or fitness—it's about the values that sustain you: humility, work ethic, emotional intelligence, and the courage to evolve. Josh proves that longevity in any field is earned through consistency, intention, and the willingness to stay coachable—even when you've “made it.” Key Takeaways: Why being emotionally accessible is a strength, not a weakness How testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) helped Josh reclaim his drive The importance of belief—how it's more powerful than love in leadership Creating a work environment where everyone feels needed and valued Josh's definition of masculinity and the role spiritual connection plays in his life How leaders like Steve Jobs and Mark Wahlberg modeled greatness through humility and discipline Don't just listen—share this one with someone who needs to remember what showing up with purpose really looks like. MAX OUT.
