Rob & Kev agree that "Seventeen Seconds" was an episode written specifically for Rob, thanks to its loving embrace of Deep Space Nine as a core contributor to Star Trek history. Speaking of history, they take the opportunity of Worf's return to our screens to reflect on the journey of everyone's favourite son of Mogh. They touch on Redemption (TNG), Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong Places (DS9), Parallels (TNG), and Tacking Into the Wind (DS9).PIC 3×03 Seventeen SecondsTNG 4×20 QpidTNG 4×26 RedemptionDS9 5×03 Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong PlacesSubspace Radio #8: Sex in Star TrekTNG 7×24 ParallelsTNG 4×05 Remember MeDS9 2×08 Necessary EvilDS9 7×22 Tacking Into the WindDS9 4×01 The Way of the WarriorMusic: Distänt Mind, Brigitte Handley

It's time to face facts as DS9 continues hurtling towards its finale in "When it Rains" and "Tacking Into the Wind". Damar is fighting for a Cardassia that he ultimately won't recognize. Kira is finding herself assisting old enemies who confront her about the less comfrotable facts of Odo's history. And Worf is forced — by a MOST unexpected source — to confront the hypocrisies of the Klingon Empire. Also this week: actions are not fractions, inapplicable methodologies, and contemplating the Breen.
In "Tacking Into the Wind", our characters face an uphill battle against themselves. Gowron continues to sabotage the war effort, and Kira and Odo attempt to steal Breen technology. In this podcast, Wes and Clay discuss the collapse of two Trek empires. Plus! The guys talk about the death of Rene Auberjonois, the pointless romance of Odo and Kira, and the evolution of Worf. From plain, simple tailors to scuzzy Guls, the Cardassians are one of Star Trek's most intriguing and well-developed races. Now Siskoid welcomes Radio vs. the Martians' Mike Gillis into the fold to draw a full portrait of this complex culture. Who are they? What do they mean in the broader Star Trek context? And how did they evolve over time? Listen to Episode 26 below! Or subscribe to Gimme That Star Trek on iTunes! This podcast is a proud member of the FIRE AND WATER PODCAST NETWORK! DS9 7x21 / 7x22. Get a Starfleet uniform and kill Gowron in this installment of From There to Here: The Star Trek 50th Anniversary Rewatch from Trek.fm. The Final Chapter, Part 6 of 9: Tacking Into the Wind. After "When It Rains…" resolved parts of DS9's Final Chapter and set new ones in motion, the second half of the overall story kicks off with what may be the longest cold open in all of Star Trek. There is no "previously on Deep Space Nine," no explanation of why you are seeing an examination of a Jem'Hadar ship; and you won't see any credits for more than eight minutes. No, "Tacking Into the Wind" throws you right into the middle of DS9's endgame. The title is a perfect description of what takes place over the course of the episode. Like a ship making constant course corrections on the open sea, our characters must adjust to the rapidly changing circumstances around them. In this episode of The Orb hosts Christopher Jones and Matthew Rushing continue our series of shows that will take you through the entire nine-part, ten-hour Deep Space Nine finale with the sixth episode in the story, "Tacking Into the Wind." We discuss how Gul Rusot is a temporal mirror for Kira, what finally forces Damar to play his hand, the fall of Gowron, why this story could not be told without Ezri, the plight of Odo, and how it sets up the next part of the story.
