Song of Songs 2:16, "My Beloved is mine, and I am His!" What a sweet and wondrous relationship exists between the believer and the Lord Jesus! What a privilege to call Him my Beloved! He is not only my Savior, but my daily Bread, my hourly Companion, my constant Joy. The more I know Him, the more I love Him. This short verse is a wellspring of soul-satisfying truth. It is the language of holy intimacy, breathed from the heart of a redeemed sinner who has been saved from eternal perdition by Jesus. Here the sincere Christian speaks with the warmth of experiential knowledge: "My Beloved is mine, and I am His!" "My Beloved is mine!" Who is this Beloved? He is the altogether lovely One, the fairest of ten thousand, the eternal Son of God. The believer dares to say that this glorious Person--this Prince of Heaven--is his! The One who reigns over angels, who upholds all creation by the word of His power--has freely given Himself to His redeemed people. All that He is, and all that He has, becomes theirs. His righteousness covers them. His intercession sustains them. His Spirit indwells them. His love surrounds them. His promises anchor them. Oh what infinite condescension, that such a Savior would belong to such unworthy and Hell-deserving sinners. "And I am His!" The believer belongs to Jesus--not merely by profession, but by redemption. He is bought with a price, sealed with His Spirit, and set apart for His glory. The Christian is not his own. His heart, his will, his time, his affections, his very life--are bound up in the One who gave Himself for him. What a glorious blessing it is to wholly belong to the tender, faithful, wise, and holy One, who loves us perfectly.

THE ELDEST SON of good King Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, was more like his mother-in-law, Jezebel, than his father. After Jehoshaphat's death, Jehoram killed his brothers and turned his kingdom toward the gods of the Amorites (i.e., Phoenicians) worshiped by Jezebel. As a result, Jezebel was afflicted with a terrible and horribly painful disease that killed him seven years later. Jehoram's son, Ahaziah, reigned only one year when he was killed by Jehu while visiting his uncle, Ahab's son Joram. Upon his death, Jehoram's wife, Ahab's daughter Athaliah seized the throne, killed the royal family of Judah—the House of David—and reigned as queen for seven years. She appears to have been cut from the same cloth as her mother, Jezebel. But after seven years, the high priest Jehoiada, who'd been secretly raising Ahaziah's youngest son, Joash, declared the boy king, had Athaliah put to death, and tore down the temple of Baal in Jerusalem. At the end of the day, all of the political machinations involving the land of Israel down to the present day are reflections of the war in the unseen realm for control of God's mount of assembly—Zion. Sharon's niece, Sarah Sachleben, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer, and the medical bills are piling up. If you are led to help, please go to GilbertHouse.org/hopeforsarah. We love Mel Brooks. He is responsible for some of the funniest movies of all time. Young Frankenstein is also one of the best adaptations the Mary Shelley classic ever made. So, we were both excited to hear about the sequel to Spaceballs. We rank our favorite movies from Brooks and why Spaceballs once disappointed us.We are also huge fans of Fright Night. While there was a great remake in the early 2010s, you just do not hear enough about it. Despite having one of horror's most iconic lines, it does not get that much love. This week, we have two bits of news; one is concrete; one is its rumored connection to one of the most infamous murders of all time. This year for Pride Month we are discussing The Last Thing Mary Saw. It is a great bit of folk horror that is frightening, atmospheric, and filled with great characters. The mystery is engaging and the performances are top notch. It also treats its queer subject matter with a sensitivity that is not seen enough. The first six months just whooshed by and we have a lot to discuss. We cover a wide range of topics. Why do we sometimes consider no longer reviewing documentaries? The good and bad of AI in film. More folk horror, a slasher, and a reverse exorcism all enter our conversation about 2025's first six months. Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. Mike chats with co-directors Travis Wood and Alex Mallis about their debut feature The Travel Companion (2025), a painfully funny look at friendship, ambition, and emotional unraveling among aspiring filmmakers. The story centers on Simon (Tristan Turner), a struggling documentarian who clings to the one major perk in his life: the free airline travel he enjoys as the designated companion of his best friend and roommate Bruce (Anthony Oberbeck), a flight attendant. When Bruce starts dating the effortlessly cool and talented Beatrice (Naomi Asa), Simon spirals into insecurity and paranoia, terrified of losing his ticket—literally and figuratively.Premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival, The Travel Companion marks a sharp, darkly comedic debut for Wood and Mallis, blending deadpan wit with painfully relatable emotional stakes. Mike talks with the directors about their collaborative process, casting from the comedy and indie film worlds, and crafting a story that pokes at the messy, ego-driven realities of creative life. FREIHEIT! Herzlich willkommen zu unserer ersten, offiziellen Samstags-Folge hier bei KINO+, in der wir einmal auf das 1. Halbjahr 2025 zurückblicken wollen. Was waren bisherige Highlights? Hey everyone! In episode 208. Real Life Questions and Comments, I'm diving deep into two important topics that have been on my heart - mission preparation and understanding missionary emotions. First, I want to address a comment I saw about going on splits being the ultimate mission prep. While that can be helpful, it's not enough. The mission is a whole different ball game, and you need to be emotionally and mentally prepared for the real pressures and challenges you'll face. I also tackle a crucial issue about anxiety on the mission. So many missionaries are told their anxiety stems from disobedience, and that breaks my heart. The truth is, anxiety is a normal, physiological response to a new, high-pressure environment. Your nervous system is doing exactly what it's designed to do - protect you. It's not a spiritual failing or a sign that you're doing something wrong. What matters is how you support yourself through these challenging emotions and learn to be compassionate with yourself. My big takeaway? Missionaries need more than just going through the motions. You need tools to manage your mind, feel your feelings, and support yourself through the incredible journey of serving a mission. Remember, there's nothing wrong with you for feeling anxious or overwhelmed. You're human, and that's beautiful. Keep showing up, keep being kind to yourself, and trust that you have everything you need to navigate this amazing experience. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. I know this work will help LDS missionaries around the world and it would mean so much to me if you did. Until next week my friends. Actually, though! — Alex makes his gory return to celebrate not only our birthday (remember, we share a birthday and it's literally today), but our long awaited (at least for Stanley) 50th episode where we finally take the time to slash up and bleed out the last six months of our lives -- what we've been up to, the places we've been, the changes that have occurred, and of course, the movies that we've seen!Included: our bloody thoughts on Sinners, Clown in a Cornfield, Fear Street: The Prom Queen, Final Destination: Bloodlines, and a few more! And don't worry -- there's even a fun Friday the 13th trivia game! We're glad to be back, and thank you for your patience while we've gotten our lives back on track. Stay tuned until the end of the episode, where we reveal what we discuss in episode 51! Spoiler: to say it's Pride-worthy is an understatement... hahah! Happy King’s Birthday, king! We kicked things off with a viral bride who said “no gifts, just goss” and honestly... go off, king. Baz Luhrmann took centre stage in the King’s Birthday Honours and walked away with a Companion of the Order of Australia — yass, cinematic royalty king! We couldn’t help but cringe as we revisited a very loooong Baz answer about his marriage on YouTube. Meanwhile, a delivery driver took the phrase “special delivery” a little too seriously when he drove straight onto the tarmac at Chicago Airport — bold move, king. We farewell one of the most ultimate kingworthy shows of all time on Australian television, and reminisce on some our favourite metro WIPs. And of course, our real King Joel gave us the royal rundown of the Tonys in Glossy’s.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this Almost Certainly Not companion series, we examine each episode's origins, production process, behind-the-scenes, personal thoughts, and most likely go off on some tangents in spite of our best efforts. In this episode, we examine: Sandra Lynn Johnson-Hughes vanished in the Sierra National Forest in 2020. Her campsite lay abandoned, belongings scattered. Then came strange sightings—hikers glimpsed a disoriented, barefoot figure vanishing into the trees. Weeks passed, and hope faded. But if it wasn't Sandra—who, or what was lurking in the forest? → Credits, References, Corrections, and More Home: https://almostcertainlynot.com/ → Support Join our Patreon with the link below. In this episode we examine: Breatharianism—the belief we can live without food—has intrigued skeptics for decades. Devotees claim to have unlocked the secret to longevity, free from physical needs. But when followers are taken in by figureheads who don't practice what they preach, promises of enlightenment give way to tales of starvation, mystery, and death. → Credits, References, Corrections, and More Home: https://almostcertainlynot.com/ → Support Join our Patreon with the link below. Sometimes God finds us hiding in the lowest places and still calls us to stand tall. This episode is for anyone who feels unqualified, unseen, or unsure.
AHAB OBVIOUSLY didn't wear the pants in his family. This week, we discuss the episode of Naboth's vineyard. Ahab pouted because Naboth refused to sell it to the king. Jezebel solved that problem by writing an order using Ahab's royal seal—an early example of the autopen?—falsely accusing Naboth of cursing God and Ahab (an early example of lawfare!). For this sin, Elijah was told by God to let Ahab know that his days were numbered and that his dynasty would end with his son. 1 Kings 22 gives us an example of the divine council in action: “Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing beside him on his right hand and on his left; 20 and the Lord said, ‘Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?' And one said one thing, and another said another. 21 Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, saying, ‘I will entice him.' 22 And the Lord said to him, ‘By what means?' And he said, ‘I will go out, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' And he said, ‘You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go out and do so.' (1 Kings 22:19–22, ESV) It goes without saying that God knew how this would play out. And He certainly didn't need the help of this unnamed spirit to carry out His will. God created the divine council for the same reason He created you and us: He desires family. NOTE: We will be at the Mysteries of the BibleVerse conference in Indianapolis next weekend. In this week's Farm Companion, we're putting in the work and stacking days with fall on our minds. As we wrap up our summer plots, it's hard not to start thinking ahead to deer season. In Illinois, we're locking in the CRP renewal, picking out stand locations, and getting in the mindset of holding mature bucks. Meanwhile, in Ohio, the grind doesn't stop—we're fine-tuning every inch of ground that could turn into a hot spot. Fall plots are up next, and every move we make now is about tipping the odds in our favor when that first buck steps out. Deer season's coming fast—and we're making sure these farms are ready. We hope you guys enjoy this series as much as we do. We live this every day, thinking about hunting season 365 days a year, putting in the work to set ourselves up for whitetail success this fall. We'll explore his past season, the reasons for strong bird populations, and his "Laws of Chukar Physics," rules to live - and hunt - by. We'll talk best habitat, strategy for handling dogs and birds, and where snow fits into the equation. In the fourth episode of "The Purpose of Marriage," Brother Duane explores the purpose and divine design of marriage, tracing its origins back to creation. The biblical account of Adam and Eve reveals how woman was created from within man, symbolizing the deep unity intended in marriage. The creation story reveals that marriage is not a human institution, but a God-ordained covenant designed to fulfill the need for companionship. God created man and woman to be partners in marriage. Eve was created from Adam's rib, emphasizing that she was "bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh." Marriage, therefore, reunites what was taken apart, with male and female becoming one flesh.Click for FREE offer ➡️https://pastorduane.com/the-purpose-of-marriage/
IT SEEMS odd to us, looking back across more than 2,800 years of history, that Elijah would run from Jezebel right after seeing what God had done on Mount Carmel. Well, it's easy to criticize. It's likely none of us would have done better in Elijah's place. We discuss how he was ministered to by the Angel of the Lord, the preincarnate Christ, while on the way to Horeb (Mount Sinai), and how God revealed Himself to Elijah in a way that was less than spectacular—especially after sending winds that tore the mountain, an earthquake, and fire. In the same way, we often expect God to show Himself to us in earth-shattering ways and miss the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit. But while it's easy to criticize Elijah, we have to point out that Ahab, who likewise saw the miracle on Mount Carmel and miraculous victories over the Aramean armies of Syria still failed to follow the Lord's command—a mistake that ultimately meant the end of his kingdom.
