On the outskirts of Racoon City, a woman awakens with amnesia in a strange mansion. As she explores the residence, it is invaded by an elite strike team. They tell her that she is Umbrella Security, was there to guard the secret entrance to the Hive, an underground research facility that has gone dark, and Umbrella wants answers. What begins as a zombie action movie becomes a series with clones, bigger monsters, the apocalypse, genetic mutations, crazed AIs, global conspiracies and zombie dogs, but it always comes back to Alice. Listen in as Erin & Gary are joined by author, podcaster, blogger, and musician Keith R.A. Happy New Year! We are back kicking off 2023 with a three part series on Alien Isolation by Keith R.A. DeCandido. The game that it is based on, also called Alien Isolation is by far one our favorite games of all time. It's set a decade or so after the disappearance of The Nostromo, the ship featured in the original Alien film. The main character is the 20-something daughter of Ellen Ripley, named Amanda, who is on her way to Sevastopol Station which claims they have received the Nostromo flight recorder, and possibly information on her mother's whereabouts. And that's when things go horribly wrong. So listen in as we read, recap, and review Alien Isolation to kick off 2023! It's going to be a great year, and we thank you for joining us. Pon Farr but make it Klingon! Neelix getting injured! A land nebula! The Borg?!?!?! This is an episode where Things Happen. Some of the things are very bad! But we make the controversial argument that some of the things are not bad. It's a complicated episode! Of Voyager, and of this podcast. Keith R.A. DeCandido: A Singular Destiny. The galaxy has been changed forever. The Borg, once the Federation's most fearsome enemy, has been eliminated once and for all thanks to the efforts of four courageous Starfleet captains. But now, the Federation and the rest of the powers in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants are left to pick up the pieces after the devastating invasion that left billions dead. New challenges and mysteries are on the horizon, however, and the long-term consequences of the Borg invasion are only now beginning to be felt. In this episode of Literary Treks, hosts Bruce Gibson and Dan Gunther are joined by Keith R.A. DeCandido to discuss his novel A Singular Destiny. We talk about following up Destiny, the interstitial chapters which give us a glimpse into hidden corners of Federation society, Sonek Pran and his uniqueness in the Star Trek universe, President Nan Bacco, the Typhon Pact, A Singular Destiny's legacy, and wrap up with what Keith is working on now and where he can be found online. In the news segment, we report on four upcoming titles: Picard: The Last Best Hope by Una McCormack, Picard: Official Collector's Edition behind-the-scenes book from Titan, The Original Series: The Higher Frontier by Chrisopher L.
