Looking for ways to create equality and balance at home? It's exhausting when household responsibilities aren't divvied up fairly. Even in today's world, women often handle more household and childrearing duties than their partners—even when they're also working full time. Research consistently shows that a balance in family duties—and in a relationship as a whole—fosters a healthy partnership and a happier household. Creating balance and gender equality in the home environment is possible, but it takes TLC and effort! Dr. Carla is joined by fatherhood expert Tim J. Myers for a powerful look at how fathers can create balance, fairness, and a happier home environment. Regardless of gender, parents and caretakers who strive to create equity at home tend to cultivate lasting love and connection. "In All the Fierce Complexities of Hunger, Tim J. Myers shows a poetic range that is astonishing. It seems impossible, but his book is a masterful collection of poems both traditional and experimental, both lyric and narrative, both funny and serious, both comforting and disturbing, both long and short, both contemporary and historical. Is there anything he can’t do? It would appear not, as I was wowed from the first poem--with its linguistic nod to Gerard Manley Hopkins--to the last, with its gorgeous echoes of W. S. Merwin. This is one of those rare books that will, in some way, speak to every reader." --Dean Rader, author of Self-Portrait as Wikipedia Entry and editor of Bullets into Bells: Poets & Citizens Respond to Gun Violence

Biz and Theresa talk about how it feels when our kids express their feelings or needs in an unkind manner. “I hate forks!” “AHHHH! I put the shirt on before underpants!” “My day is ruined! You are ruining my day!” Helping our kids navigate their emotions and teaching them to speak their needs kindly is important, but also tiring. When you add to it the emotional pummeling of being yelled at by a four-year-old, Biz and Theresa wonder how we can ever get space to regulate our own feelings. Plus, Biz says goodbye to Steve, Theresa has a pet peeve, and we talk to author Tim J. Myers about fatherhood. You can find more from Tim J. Meyers on his website Timmyersstorysong.com.
