Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid produced by gut bacteria when they ferment fiber, serving as the primary energy source for colon cells and maintaining gut barrier strength Healthy butyrate levels support weight management, blood sugar control, and brain health, with studies linking butyrate-producing bacteria to reduced Alzheimer's risk and lower cancer risk A diverse diet rich in various fiber sources, including fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, promotes butyrate production, but increases should be gradual if your gut health is compromised The gut barrier weakens with insufficient butyrate, allowing undigested food, bacteria, and toxins to enter your bloodstream, triggering systemic inflammation and widespread health problems Gradually increasing fiber intake and reducing mitochondrial toxins for increased cellular energy supports gut health and beneficial gut microbes, enhancing butyrate production and overall health

How to Tune into the Power of Your Intuition, Creativity, and ImaginationDo you ever feel like your instinct – or some sense of deep knowing and natural wisdom – is giving you information that your rational mind tells you is illogical or wrong? Or perhaps you've been told by a partner, friend, or family member that your choices aren't as analytical as they ought to be. In fact, we're often reminded that we should be logical – that we should follow whatever the rational brain tells us to do. And in today's highly left-brain world, it's easy to believe that we should discount our intuition and the callings of the creative mind. Yet from my personal and clinical experience, I've found that there's untold power in discovering the gifts of knowing that are beyond the rational mind. Today, I'm joined by Dr. Kim Hermanson, a renowned educator, author, and psychologist, who will guide us into the realm of tuning into the extraordinary world of the non-linear mind. Topics discussed include imagination, instinct, metaphors, dreams, rational mind, intuition, feminine energy, masculine energy, balance, intuitive, deep knowing, relationships, empowerment, and self-awareness.Please note that this episode may contain sensitive material; listener discretion is advised.Emergency Assistance Note: If you or someone you know needs immediate support, please call your emergency services. Hormone replacement therapy education is all the talk these days. But how do you cut through all the noise and get the right care for you? Expert in the field, Dr. Sarah Daccarett joins the podcast to get straight to the point about how the CORRECT hormone replacement methods can do more than just symptom management. We want you to feel GOOD in midlife, not just symptom-free. A lot of providers aren't knowledgeable or confident enough in HRT options, leaving you with a one-size-fits-all treatment plan. And sadly, this causes thousands of women to be totally underdosed. But Dr. Sarah offers something different that can potentially give some standardization for you. You can get predictable products and services at her company, Inner Balance. With a clinical team to check in with, and less HRT side effects than other formulations, Inner Balance is a safe and massively effective option for managing your midlife hormone symptoms. Tune in here and learn how to get maximum benefit from hormone replacement therapy to live your brightest life! Dr. Sarah Daccarett, MD After treating thousands of women who felt ignored with their symptoms or who were totally misdiagnosed, Dr. Sarah realized the healthcare system wasn't built for women, so she built something new. She's the CEO and founder of Inner Balance- a medical approach to female biology that works with women's bodies. It's your science-backed and compassionate solution to hormonal health, with the mission to close the gender gap in healthcare for good. IN THIS EPISODE Why midlife women don't get the hormone help they deserve The massive gap in knowledge around hormone replacement The difference between hormone treatment for men and women The importance of paying attention to your hormone dosing Understanding lab markers for hormone levels The neuroprotective benefits of hormone replacement Why so many women are underdosed with hormones About Dr. Sarah Daccarett's company, Inner Balance QUOTES “It's because women need to understand that this convoluted messaging they're getting is suppressing them. It's keeping them misinformed and it's keeping them from living probably their fullest potential.” “A take home message for anybody listening is that it's not just the hormones that matter. It's the way you're trying to get them into the body. Unfortunately, we're all having to turn into hormone experts because doctors are not figuring it out for us, so we're doing it ourselves.” “Women, if you want to treat estrogen dominance, you should make sure that your estrogen is actually [high] enough that all these chemicals can't bind. Then you have enough progesterone to counterbalance it. So the treatment is not to lower estrogen, but to actually take it and then you'll feel better.” RESOURCES MENTIONED Order my new book: The Perimenopause Revolution https://peri-revolution.com/ Use code ENERGIZED and get 20% off on your Timeline order http://timeline.com/ENERGIZED Inner Balance Website: InnerBalance.com Inner Balance on Instagram Dr. Sarah on Instagram RELATED EPISODES #605: Breaking the HRT Confusion: The Truth Behind Hormone Replacement Therapy for Perimenopausal Women with Karen Martel 579: Hormone Replacement Options and Hormone Testing for Women in Midlife + Self Advocacy for Optimal Health with Esther Blum #647: Hormone Optimization Therapy (HOT) Isn't Your Mom's HRT + It's One Of The Best Strategies For Longevity with Dr. Amy Killen 680: You Are Not Broken: Why Women Need Testosterone to Feel Strong, Sexy & Energized with Dr. Kelly Casperson

They discuss the emergence of red light therapy, its scientific basis, and its applications in treating various health issues, particularly obesity and metabolic health. The conversation emphasizes the importance of innovative healing technologies and their potential to transform lives. In this conversation, Dr. Jeffrey Gladden and Dr. Mike Renzulli explore the evolution of healthcare from merely managing symptoms to addressing root causes through precision medicine. They discuss innovative approaches to weight loss, the importance of detoxification, and the role of GLP-1 medications. The conversation emphasizes the significance of body composition over weight alone, the impact of fasting, and the necessity of a systems approach to health optimization, including thyroid function and oxidative stress management. Ultimately, they advocate for personalized solutions tailored to individual needs for lasting health improvements. For Audience Use code 'Podcast10' to get 10% OFF on any of our supplements at https://gladdenlongevityshop.com/ ! Takeaways Dr. Renzulli's early inspiration for healthcare came from witnessing a life-saving moment. His journey led him to explore holistic approaches after observing disillusionment in traditional doctors. Red light therapy emerged as a significant tool in his practice, offering innovative health solutions. The design and proximity of red light beds are crucial for effective treatment outcomes. Different wavelengths of light have varying effects on the body, from skin rejuvenation to deeper tissue healing. Red light therapy can enhance ATP production and reduce oxidative stress. Integrating red light therapy with other treatments can improve metabolic health and energy levels. Obesity is a growing epidemic, and red light therapy can play a role in weight loss. The technology behind red light therapy is backed by numerous studies and evidence-based results. Patients experience significant improvements in health and well-being through these innovative therapies. Patients are increasingly seeking root cause solutions rather than just symptom management. Precision medicine offers real hope and tangible results for patients. Weight loss strategies must focus on detoxification and cellular health. Inflammation is a key factor in weight gain and insulin resistance. A systematic approach to health can yield better outcomes than isolated treatments. Body composition is a more important metric than weight alone. GLP-1 medications can have adverse effects on muscle and bone density. Fasting can be beneficial if done correctly, focusing on fat loss rather than muscle loss. Precision medicine requires a deep understanding of individual genetics and biology. A comprehensive approach to health includes monitoring thyroid function and metabolic rates. How to Identify Narcissistic Friendships & Emotional VampiresNarcissism can infect friendships in silent, toxic ways! Overt narcissists tend to have obviously self-centered traits, and this makes it fairly easy to spot them and keep them at bay. Covert narcissists can be difficult to detect; they can pull you in with subtle, exploitative games. Often termed "vampire friendships," they can leave you feeling confused, drained, and filled with self-doubt. But no matter the type of narcissist you've encountered, it's easy to be taken in by their manipulative ploys and charisma. In fact, you might "suddenly" realize that a friend you've known for years has heavily narcissistic traits that were carefully masked. If you're in a friendship (or other relationship) with someone that you think is deeply narcissistic, this important episode will help you notice and understand the common traits and tactics of those with NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) or severe narcissism. Join Dr. Carla as she discusses narcissistic traits and how they are revealed in friendships. Remember, you deserve healthy relationships built on trust, reciprocity, and empathy!Check out this narcissistic survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LXJZLC3 Topics discussed include friendship, narcissism, covert narcissists, overt narcissists, narcissistic spectrum, empathy, love, safety, reciprocity, honesty, gossip, gaslighting, imperfection, emotional vampires, vampire friends, vampire friendships, exploitation, and healthy relationships. Please note that this episode may contain sensitive material; listener discretion is advised.Emergency Assistance Note: If you or someone you know needs immediate support, please call your emergency services. Have you experienced a traumatic event in the past--whether in your childhood or adult life? If the answer is "yes," you're surely not alone. Research shows that about 60% of men and 50% of women experience at least one traumatic event in their lifetime. However, women are actually more likely to develop PTSD. And as a clinical psychologist who has worked with thousands of traumatized individuals, I've found that trauma often reveals itself in unusual or confusing ways. And despite the belief that trauma goes away or heals itself, unaddressed trauma tends to fester and worsen over time. Today we'll dive into trauma–and how to heal it–with a wonderful, renowned trauma expert. Topics discussed include trauma, PTSD, rape, assault, domestic violence, victims, survivors, healing, grief, loss, betrayal, fight or flight response, freeze response, fawn response, safety, security, empowerment, support, psychotherapy, and attachment. In this episode of the Optimal Body Podcast, Dr. Jen and Dr. Dom—both doctors of physical therapy—address widespread myths and misconceptions surrounding neck pain and posture. They delve into the natural variation in cervical spine curvature, explaining that straightened neck curves and age-related degenerative changes are frequently seen on imaging and are often a normal part of the aging process, not necessarily linked to pain or dysfunction. They stress the importance of not letting fear-based interpretations of MRI or X-ray results dictate treatment decisions. Instead, they advocate for proactive approaches to posture and neck pain such as regular movement, targeted exercise, and education to empower individuals in managing their symptoms. Dr. Jen and Dr. Dom provide practical tips and evidence-based strategies to help find relief from neck pain, improve mobility and posture, and support overall neck health.VivoBarefoot Discount:Support your feet and ankles with VivoBarefoot shoes—with perfect styles for any occasion! Are you familiar with the power of positive affirmations? Do you believe that your mind plays a role in healing? Today's guest fully believes in the power of the mind and what an incredible honor it is to have on the show mega-bestselling author of “You Can Heal Your Life” Louise Hay. She is also the founder of the world's largest self-help publishing company, Hay House. Today she's talking with Lisa about the movie “You Can Heal Your Life” which contains hours of footage and plenty of positive affirmations that you, too, can use to heal your life. Louise discusses her journey with cancer and how she took a positive approach to turn toward optimal health. She made the decision that she would heal her life. She brought together people who were all able to help including nutritionists, teachers, and others. After six months, the medical community declared her cancer-free. Her diet and affirmations were so important, but most importantly Louise says she learned to forgive. After a very challenging childhood filled with abuse, she knew she was carrying resentment and knew she needed to release it. She looked into the childhoods of her parents and realized they both came from very difficult places and passed along what they learned. This was the key to forgiving them both. She talks about affirmations which heal including, “All is well”; “Only good will come of this”; “Everything is working out for my highest good”; and “I am safe.” This is Part 1 of the conversation, and we air this in her honor on what would have been her 99th birthday. Louise Hay made her transition on Aug 31, 2017, at the age of 90. Info: HayHouse.com and LouiseHay.com.

Marriage and other long term relationships can be wonderful, but they can also be tough. It's natural to expect--and even believe--that romantic partnerships should last forever. Yet, in real life, many love relationships fall apart due to factors such as ongoing differences, a lack of connection, betrayal, health issues, or abuse. And, in some cases, a terrible combination of these issues can cause the relationship to slowly fray or explode. It can be tempting to stay--to weather the storm and hope it gets better--but sometimes the healthiest option is making that tough choice to exit the situation. And while divorce and other relationship endings can come with many heavy costs ranging from financial struggles to deep emotional drain, sometimes the price you pay to stay is far more devastating. Join me and a brilliant self-care advocate, attorney, and former domestic violence judge, Michele Locke, for a deep dive into unhealthy relationships, narcissism, and divorce. Topics discussed include marriage, long-term relationships, narcissism, narcissistic abuse, emotional abuse, physical abuse, spiritual abuse, financial abuse, support groups, self-growth, courage, communication, self-care, self-love, anxiety, fear, physical health, children, parenting, finances, domestic violence, survivors, victims, and boundaries. We talk a lot about how trauma affects our mental health, but have you thought about what it does to your body? In this episode, host Paula Felps sits down with Dr. Aimie Apigian, author of The Biology of Trauma, to explore how trauma is stored not just in our minds but in our bodies — and how that impacts our physical health, relationships, and overall well-being. Drawing from her experience as a physician and foster parent, Dr. Aimie shares how traditional talk therapy often misses the mark, and why understanding trauma as a biological process opens the door to more effective healing. In this episode, you'll learn: How trauma differs from stress — and why trauma, not stress, is what makes us sick. Why stored trauma shows up in physical symptoms, emotional patterns, and relationship dynamics. Nutrients are far more than supplements on a shelf—they are life-sustaining molecules that determine how well the body ages and resists disease. For years, their importance was overlooked because many studies were poorly designed, failing to consider existing nutrient levels or how vitamins and minerals work together. Strong evidence now shows multivitamins can slow brain aging, omega-3s can extend life expectancy, and shortages of vitamin D, magnesium, and B12 are widespread drivers of inflammation and chronic illness. Knowing and addressing individual deficiencies is critical, as these nutrients power billions of chemical reactions every second and are foundational to vitality and longevity. In this episode, I discuss, along with Dr. Rhonda Patrick and Steve Martocci, why nutrients are essential for a healthy body and how to choose the highest quality supplements. Dr. Rhonda Patrick is a scientist and health educator recognized for her leadership in aging and disease prevention. As the founder of FoundMyFitness, she provides evidence-based insights to a global audience through her website and podcast. On YouTube, she engages millions in in-depth discussions on evidence-based strategies for well-being. Dr. Patrick's focus areas include genetic influences in dietary response, micronutrients, sleep, non-pharmacological approaches to mental well-being, and the surprising and paradoxical benefits of biological stressors such as exercise, heat, cold exposure, and plant phytochemicals. As an associate scientist and board member at the Fatty Acid Research Institute, she advances understanding of omega-3 fatty acids in aging and health. Her research has been published in high-impact journals like Nature Cell Biology, Experimental Gerontology, and FASEB. Steve Martocci is the co-founder and CEO of Suppco, a smart supplement tracking platform helping people take the right supplements with confidence. After years of struggling with his health and hitting 300 pounds, Steve turned to functional medicine and supplements to reclaim his well-being. That personal transformation—and the confusion he faced along the way—inspired him to build Suppco. Suppco helps users track what they're taking, avoid unnecessary or low-quality products, and personalize their supplement routine with tools like brand TrustScores, protocol guides, and stack analysis.
