Live watch! Leil watched this episode three times because of reasons, and this week you can watch along with us, so pop yourself some corn and dig into the make-up nightmare that is Too Short A Season
Peter is joined by Andy Poulastides to fill in the last few S1 TNG shows Anne-Marie (probably wisely) didn't want to revisit due to beardless Riker. This month we're looking at 11001001 and Too Short A Season. Next time, recording Thursday 4th July they'll be covering When The Bough Breaks and Home Soil. Feedback- borgcast@gmail.com
Anne-Marie and Peter look back on S2 of Discovery, and in the process draw a parallel with Avengers Endgame, so if you've not seen that yet maybe wait until after you have before listening. Whilst Discovery travels forwards in time, Andy and I will be going back to the past for the next Borgcast, which will be 1.7 (I know!), covering TNG S1's 11001001 and Too Short A Season. Recording 29th May. Feedback- borgcast@gmail.com
On this episode of Re:TNG--A Starfleet Admiral trope begins! Too Short A Season! First aired February 8, 1988
'Twas the cast before Christmas, and I'm not gonna lie: we'd not considered when this was coming out, so there's nothing holiday themed in it and the meter just fell to pieces. What we do have is a bunch of people playing their cards close to their chest. First up, the Binars are supposedly aboard the “Enterprise” to do some software updates, but have other plans churning in their weird little heads in "11001001." After that, "Too Short A Season" sees Admiral Jameson brought aboard to help negotiate a hostage crisis on a world he visited some four decades before…but what happened last time he was there? Also this week: weird home skin remedies, manopause, and a trip down memory lane to “The Search for Spock.” Content warning: brief mention of Tasha's rape gangs. It's been a while, at least. Timestamps: synopses: 0:42; 11001001: 13:06; Too Short a Season: 43:58

Standard Orbit 143: Right Click, Word Replacement TNG as TOS. The early seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation get a bad rep, and are often criticized as feeling like an "extension of TOS" or "1960s TV in the 1980s." Right or wrong, good or bad, in this episode of Standard Orbit, Ken and Zach discuss a handful of season one TNG adventures that feel more at home on Kirk's Enterprise than Picard's. The Naked Now, on TOS as originally planned? Angel One, would it be too progressive for the late 1960s? Too Short a Season, is it generic enough for any series? We'll Always Have Paris becoming I Left My Heart In San Francisco? We have a fun time pondering what these episodes could become with just a few uses of the word replacement tool. In a very funny episode of 'Star Trek Monthly Monday', The Freaks make some lemonade from some space lemons, Capt. Kirk wields a space dildo in "What Are Little Girls Made Of?", we see the latest model of the Christopher Pikemobile in "Too Short A Season", and Sulu subdues a foe using (for real, not kidding) chopsticks and a Transformer!! Space racism? You Betcha! Also: Puppet Lurch, people thrown into bottomless pits, styrofoam caves, and absolutely NO Wesely Crusher! Plus - as a Special Bonus - BLUEGRASS BONES!
