In this captivating episode, host Courtenay Turner welcomes David Gosselin for a deep dive into the intriguing concept of "The New Dark Age." Together, they unravel themes that span philosophy, culture, history, and societal transformation, offering listeners a fresh perspective on the forces shaping our world today. Key Topics Include: Plato vs. Aristotle: A philosophical exploration of the enduring debate between Plato's idealism and Aristotle's empirical realism, setting the foundation for understanding shifts in cultural and intellectual paradigms. Lady Gaga and the Gnostic Revival: Drawing from David Gosselin's recent article, they examine how Lady Gaga embodies a modern "Gnostic Bard," unpacking the ways her music and imagery reflect ancient Gnostic ideas and their influence on contemporary pop culture. Dark Enlightenment and Game~B: A discussion of emerging societal movements like Game~B and the Dark Enlightenment, analyzing their philosophical roots and implications for humanity's trajectory. Gnosticism and Philosophy: An exploration of Gnostic traditions, including their dualistic worldview, critiques of orthodox religion, and their resurgence in modern thought. Renaissance or New Middle Ages?: Inspired by Gosselin's second article, the conversation raises critical questions about whether society is on the brink of a cultural renaissance or descending into a new medieval era. This episode offers a rich tapestry of ideas connecting ancient wisdom to contemporary challenges. From the philosophical tensions between Plato and Aristotle to the cultural symbolism embedded in Lady Gaga's artistry, listeners will gain insights into the forces driving "The New Dark Age"—and the possibility to view this pivotal moment through an entirely new lens. ▶Read David's referenced articles:  ★ Lady Gaga's Gnostic Revival: Gnosticism, Neoplatonism and the Perversion of Pop Culture ★ A Renaissance or New Middle Ages? ▶Follow & Connect with David Gosselin: ✩ Twitter ✩ New Lyre Magazine ✩ Substack: Age of Muses Writings for a new Renaissance By David Gosselin ____________________________________________________________________ ▶ GET On-Demand Access for Courtenay's Cognitive Liberty Conference https://cognitivelibertyconference.com ----------------------------------------- ▶ Follow & Connect with Courtenay: https://www.courtenayturner.com ✩ Linktree ▶ Support my work & Affiliate links: ✩Buy Me A Coffee! ✩GiveSendGo ✩Venmo ✩Cash App ✩ Richardson Nutritional Center: (B-17!) ✩ Relax Far Infrared Saunas: (Warm Up!) What is actually in these orders, and how bad is it that one of leading litigation firms in the country gave in to Trump's demands without  a fight? Unfortunately, the stories of offering human sacrifices to be burned alive are based on real life. Yahweh has to tell the people of Israel how wicked this is, because they've been doing it and other nations around them have been doing it. He also warns them against seeking guidance from familiar spirits or seeking out any person practicing such occult activities. Perversion of sexual relationships is clarified, as well as cursing parents. He explains that he wants to bless them, but they must do what is good and holy. It's Thursday, March 20th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Irish pastor in hot water for preaching outside hospital Authorities in Northern Ireland are prosecuting a retired pastor for preaching outside a general hospital. Seventy-six-year-old pastor, Clive Johnston, held an open-air Sunday service outside the facility last July. While the hospital does perform abortions, he made no reference to abortion, pointing people to Jesus Christ. Officials are charging Johnston with violating the Abortion Services Safe Access Zones Act.  He now faces a criminal record and fines totaling thousands of pounds.  The Christian Institute is representing Johnston. Simon Calvert, Deputy Director of the group, said this. CALVERT:  “Prosecuting someone for preaching John 3:16 near a hospital on a quiet Sunday is an outrageous imposition on free speech and Gospel freedom.” John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Hungary bans events that celebrate sexual perversion Hungary's parliament passed a law Tuesday banning events that celebrate sexually perverted lifestyles. Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán pulled no punches. ORBAN: “I advise [homosexual and transgender] pride organizers not to bother with the preparation of this year's parade. It would be a waste of money and time.” Orban wrote on X, “Today, we voted to ban gatherings that violate child protection laws. In Hungary, a child's right to healthy physical, mental, intellectual, and moral development comes first. We won't let woke ideology endanger our kids.” In response, members of a liberal opposition party, known as Momentum, lit colorful smoke flares inside the Hungarian Parliament while Orban was talking. They also rudely displayed manipulated pictures of Orban kissing Vladimir Putin. Plus, homosexual and transgender activists blocked a bridge in central Budapest in protest.  And one homosexual man offered his analysis. PROTESTER: “It's quite terrifying, to be honest, because we had the same in Russia. It was building up step by step. I feel like this is what's going on here. I'm not surprised that Viktor Orban doesn't have any original ideas. He only copying Putin or Trump.” Hungary's new law builds on the previous Child Protection Law which bans the promotion of homosexuality.  Dept. of Defense to cut 60,000 civilian jobs In the United States, the Defense Department plans to cut up to 60,000 civilian jobs.  The department aims to cut 5% to 8% of its civilian workforce which numbers nearly 900,000. Already 21,000 employees have voluntarily resigned.  The department hopes to make many of the cuts by simply not replacing workers who leave on a regular basis.  The cuts are part of President Donald Trump's efforts to slim down the federal workforce.  Trump paused $175 million to UPENN over male in women's sports FOX Business reports the Trump administration paused $175 million in federal funding to the University of Pennsylvania yesterday. At issue is the university's inclusion of men, pretending to be women, in women's sports, specifically William Thomas, a senior, who now goes by the feminine name Lia, and stole first place from Riley Gaines, a biological woman. The Department of Education is also investigating the Ivy League school following Trump's executive order to keep men out of women's sports. At stake is the university's total federal funding which amounted to around $1 billion last year. Minneapolis ordered to pay $450,000 to pro-life group over violation The city of Minneapolis, Minnesota agreed to pay $450,000 in a pro-life case last week. The city had barred Pro-Life Action Ministries from working near an abortion mill. The ministry sued the city in 2023 and won their case thanks to the help of the Thomas More Society.  Peter Breen, executive vice president of the Christian legal group said, “Politicians seeking to hinder and silence the efforts of pro-life sidewalk counselors should think twice—or it will cost them.” U.S. birth rate up thanks to Hispanic women U.S. births rose slightly last year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There were just over 3.6 million births last year, up 22,250 births from 2023. The rise in births is due in part to a rise in births among Hispanic women.  The U.S. birthrate has been falling for years, and experts don't expect last year's uptick to change the overall trend.  52% of Protestant churches grew after COVID pandemic Lifeway Research released a new report on worship service attendance for Protestant churches in the U.S. since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The report found 52% of churches experienced growth in worship attendance. Meanwhile, 33% saw attendance plateau and 15% experienced decline.  Also, around half of Protestant churches had at least 10 people make a new commitment to Jesus Christ as their Savior in the past year. Christian college students wrote Gospel of John on sidewalks And finally, Christian students wrote the entire Gospel of John on campus sidewalks at Western Kentucky University last week. Nearly 70 students from Baptist Campus Ministry and Cru, formerly Campus Crusade for Christ, and Hilltoppers for Christ got together with chalk to complete the task in about two and a half hours. Afterwards, they prayed for students at the university.  Luke Alford, Vice President of Baptist Campus Ministry, told Kentucky Today, “People look for answers in a lot of different things, and I think it's really good to have answers right in front of them.” John 1:1, 4 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, March 20th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. They say that those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it. This is why we are releasing this podcast focused on what happened in hospitals during the "pandemic." Ken McCarthy is the author of "What the Nurses Saw," and today he reveals the systemic issues in patient care that occurred during the time of COVID-19—from unethical changes in the standards of care for patients to the unprepared staff and unhelpful hospital hierarchy to incentives for the use of ventilators and for labeling deaths as covid-related.   It played out like a horror show instead of health care, according to Ken. And anyone who dared to call out what was happening was censored or had their license revoked or were publicly shamed. It was a blatant attack on free speech. Ken boldly reminds us of what happened only four or five years ago and explains why this all matters now.   Visit Ken's website: What The Nurses Saw Become a member of the Weston A. Perversions of the Market: Sadism, Masochism, and the Culture of Capitalism (SUNY Press, 2024) argues that capitalism fosters sadism and masochism--not as individual psychological proclivities but as widespread institutionalized patterns of behavior. The book is divided into two parts: one historical and the other theoretical. In the first, Eugene W. Holland shows how, as capital becomes global in scale and drives production and consumption farther and farther apart, it perverts otherwise free markets, transforming sadism and masochism into borderline conditions and various supremacisms. The second part then turns to Deleuze and Guattari's 'schizoanalysis,' explaining how it helpfully embeds Freud's analysis of the family and Lacan's analysis of language within an analysis of the capitalist market and its psycho-dynamics. Drawing on literature and film throughout to illuminate the discontents of modern culture, Holland maintains that the sadistic relations of production and masochistic relations of consumption must be eliminated to prevent capitalism from destroying life as we know it. They highlight the impact of early exposure to explicit content on young minds and relationships, the perversion and degradation present in contemporary sexual practices, and the societal consequences of these trends. The conversation emphasizes the need for genuine human connection as a remedy for chaotic sexuality, advocating for healthier relational dynamics over mere sexual encounters. It's Thursday, January 16th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Top 10 worst countries for persecution of Christians Open Doors US released their 2025 World Watch List yesterday. The report covers the 50 worst countries for the persecution of Christians. The ten worst countries are North Korea, Somalia, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Eritrea, Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. Once again, North Korea tops the list for a 23rd year in a row. The report found 380 million Christians face high levels of persecution. That's one in seven believers worldwide. From October 2023 to September 2024, 4,476 Christians were killed for their faith, 4,744 Christians were detained, arrested, or sentenced for their faith, and 209,771 Christians were forced to leave their homes.   Hebrews 13:3 says, “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.” Israel-Hamas ceasefire and hostage exchange Israel and Hamas reportedly agreed to a ceasefire yesterday brokered by America, Egypt, and Qatar.  If successfully completed, the agreement would end 15 months of fighting.  The deal would begin with Hamas releasing 33 hostages in exchange for hundreds of Palestinians imprisoned in Israel. The agreement also involves more humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. Both President Joe Biden's administration and President-elect Donald Trump's team cooperated in making the agreement.  Biden removes Cuba from list of state sponsors of terrorism In other international news, President Biden announced that the United States would remove Cuba from its list of state sponsors of terrorism. It's one of Biden's last official acts before Trump takes office next Monday. However, the Trump administration may reverse the decision.  At this moment, Cuba has promised to release 553 prisoners, likely including people imprisoned during anti-government protests in 2021.  The agreement was brokered by the Catholic Church to secure the release of political prisoners.  Vatican's approval of sexual perversion Speaking of the Catholic Church, the Vatican approved a document in favor of sexually perverted lifestyles. The Italian Bishops' Conference published the document last Friday.  The provisions allow candidates for priesthood to have “homosexual tendencies.” However, priests are still required to live in celibacy.  Proverbs 25:26 says, “Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.” Biden awarded Pope Francis Presidential Medal of Freedom President Biden awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom with distinction to Pope Francis on Saturday.  It's the highest civilian award of the United States, and it's the first time Biden awarded the medal “with distinction.” The White House praised Pope Francis as being “unlike any who came before.” However, Fox News notes, “Francis, 88, has pushed to open the Church to the modern world since he took the helm in 2013. He has drawn criticism from some U.S. Catholics for his support of … positions that are contrary to Church teachings.” Marco Rubio: Emphasizing “national interest above all else is not isolationism.” Yesterday, Republican Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, whom Trump has nominated to be his Secretary of State, outlined his vision before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, reports CBS News. RUBIO: “We are once again called to create a free world out of the chaos. And this will not be easy. And it will be impossible without a strong and a confident America that engages in the world, putting our core national interests once again above all else. In Moscow, in Tehran, in Pyongyang, dictators, rogue states now sow chaos and instability and align with and they fund radical terror groups. And then they hide behind their veto power at the United Nations Security Council or the threats of nuclear war. “The post war global order is not just obsolete. It is now a weapon being used against us. Placing our core national interest above all else is not isolationism. It is the common sense realization that a foreign policy centered in our national interest is not some outdated relic.” Ted Cruz asked Trump's Attorney General, Pam Bondi, pick whether she would be fair In addition, Pam Bondi, the former Florida Attorney General, also appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee   She  vowed to end the weaponization of the Justice Department, saying her focus will be on reducing crime and upholding the law, reports CBS News. Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas opened his time this way. CRUZ: “I don't know that there is a more important position in this new administration than the position to which you have been nominated, Attorney General of the United States. Perhaps the most tragic legacy of the Biden-Harris administration has been the politicization and the weaponization of the United States Department of Justice. Joe Biden publicly mused and allowed the New York Times to report it, calling on Merrick Garland: ‘Why will he not prosecute Trump more quickly?'  Merrick Garland, sadly, he sat in that chair and promised to be apolitical, and he broke that promise almost the instant he walked into the Department of Justice. “If you look on the west pediment of the Supreme Court of the United States, just above the entrance, there's a simple, yet profound, four word phrase: ‘Equal justice under law.'  We have seen over the last four years a Department of Justice that systematically targeted the political opponents of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and that systematically protected his friends and allies. I don't think there's an institution in America who has lost more respect from the American people than the FBI has in the last four years. “So, I want to start with just a very simple question, if you, [Pam Bondi], are confirmed as Attorney General, will you pledge to fairly and faithfully uphold the law regardless of party?” BONDI: “So help me, God!” CRUZ: “Amen. I want to be clear for folks at home, I don't want a Republican Department of Justice. I don't want a Democrat Department of Justice. I want a Department of Justice that follows the law, and I think the American people do too. That shouldn't be too much to expect.” Trump plans to create the External Revenue Service President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he plans to create a new agency to collect tariffs from foreign sources. He began by criticizing the Internal Revenue Service on Truth Social. He wrote, “For far too long, we have relied on taxing our Great People using the Internal Revenue Service.  … Through soft and pathetically weak Trade agreements, the American Economy has delivered growth and prosperity to the World, while taxing ourselves.”  Trump went on to say, “It is time for that to change. I am today announcing that I will create the EXTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE to collect our Tariffs, Duties, and all Revenue that come from Foreign sources.” 935 languages still need a Bible translation And finally, Wycliffe Global Alliance has published their 2024 Global Scripture Access Report. The report notes that there are 7,396 languages in the world spoken by at least 7.45 billion people. Currently, 756 languages have full Bibles, an increase of 20 languages from 2023. About 10% of all languages now have full Bibles, accounting for 6 billion people.   Additionally, the number of languages needing Bible translation to start is 985, down 283 from 2023. The total number of languages with at least some portion of Scripture has reached 3,756. That's about half of all languages and accounts for 7.3 billion people.  Isaiah 52:7 says, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.'” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, January 16th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. The Money Wise guys are back with a brand new episode this week. As always, they begin with a break down of Wall Street's performance this past week, with the Dow Jones dropping 1.86%, the S&P 500 declining 1.94%, and the NASDAQ falling 2.34% for the week. Year-to-date, all three indices remain slightly negative, with the Dow down 1.42%, the S&P 500 down 0.91%, and the NASDAQ down 0.77%. The conversation highlights Friday's surprisingly strong jobs report, which revealed 256,000 new jobs created in December—far exceeding expectations of 155,000. The unemployment rate ticked down to 4.1%, and broader measures of underemployment improved as well. However, average hourly earnings rose only 0.3%, slightly below expectations, providing a mixed signal for inflation. The guys also explore how strong employment data, which should traditionally boost markets, instead triggered a "perversion" of market behavior, as concerns over Federal Reserve policy fueled a sell-off. Thet discuss how robust jobs numbers cast doubt on a potential recession while raising questions about future rate cuts or even increases. Despite the market's reaction, the Money Wise guys emphasize the overall strength of the economy and how these numbers challenge the narrative of a looming downturn. Tune in for insights on the jobs report, market performance, and what this means for 2025. A Surprisngly Strong Jobs Report The latest jobs report revealed a surprisingly strong working market. Broader measures of underemployment also improved, signaling a robust labor market. Interestingly, average hourly earnings rose just 0.3%, falling short of the anticipated 0.4% increase, which eased some concerns about wage-driven inflation. A report like this is crucial for the markets because it reflects the overall health of the economy and influences Federal Reserve policy decisions. Strong job growth and low unemployment suggest a resilient economy but may prompt the Fed to reconsider its approach to interest rate cuts, leading to increased market volatility. In the second hour, the Money Wise guys share the Best Investment Advice Ever. You don't want to miss the details! But those concerns haven't mattered yet. And there's no guarantee they will on any relevant time frame to today's investors. And so the party in stocks continues on...for now. In today's interview, macro analyst Grant Williams discusses how we've reached this point: we debauched the value of money. And in doing so, we re-focused the goal of every company towards boosting the stock price, and away from creating sustainable value. How long can this continue before the markets reprice, downwards, to valuations that can be sustained by fundamentals? This is THE existential question facing investors today, Grant posits. Today, we're starting off with news of the tragic school shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia. We explain the heartbreaking details and give some thoughts on how we can find comfort in the Lord in the midst of tragedy. Then, what really goes on at the infamous Burning Man, and why does it matter? Burning Man 2024 just ended, and we break down the festival's pagan roots and why it's yet another example of man's desperate need for meaning and for God. We look at some of the gross activities allowed at Burning Man and explain the parallels to idol worship in the Bible. Fr. Mike reflects on the story of Susanna's righteousness in the book of Daniel. While celebrating Susanna's virtue, Daniel's wisdom, and God's faithfulness, Fr. Mike also warns us that, like the corrupt elders in the story, we too can allow our hearts to become perverted by the things we fix our eyes on. The readings are Jeremiah 30, Daniel 12-13, and Proverbs 16:17-20. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear.
