Summer Rewind: We're revisiting some of our most memorable conversations - and this one is an absolute gem!In this inspiring archive episode, Dame Prue Leith joins Michelle to talk about living boldly, dressing brightly, and speaking out on issues that matter. Prue shares how embracing colour in midlife isn't just about fashion - it's about confidence, visibility and joy. Age, she insists, should never limit our choices or silence our sense of fun.The conversation then takes a heartfelt turn, as Prue opens up about her advocacy for assisted dying - why she believes everyone deserves the right to a dignified end, and how this choice is an extension of dignity in life.Plus, Prue introduces her cookbook Life's Too Short to Stuff a Mushroom, designed to help anyone feel at home in the kitchen, with easy, delicious recipes that keep cooking joyful rather than stressful.Key Takeaways:

Fr. Anthony, Tony, and Cristina return live today to talk about the goings on, and people in the Parish. Father Anthony leads us in prayer and then reads a letter entitled “The Trip is Too Short”. The letter draws attention to ignore insignificant things and forgive as life is just too short. The group chats about changing times and generational impacts to society and the church. They look to Pope Leo's words as he draws attention to the mysticism of the Eastern church and calls for the Western church to seek this wonderful mysticism and recommit to the wonders of the church. This is one of them FREAKY TALES. The directing team behind Captain Marvel (yep) returns from director jail with a retro anthology movie called FREAKY TALES, and since Matt is only human and likes cool poster art, he dove at the chance to review this little oddity of a movie. What do Pedro Pascal, an axe, green lightning, Blade, and the rapper Too Short have in common? We don't know. We're not sure this movie knows either. But hey guys, it's the 80s! That's what matters, right? RIGHT???? Along the way, we also chat about The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie and Captain America: Brave New World. Scrub ahead to 20:40 if you want to get right to the main Freaky Tales review, but if you do that, you'll miss a special celebratory news segment where we attempt to call Jeff from Love of Cinema for his birthday.

Too $hort reflects on the cultural legacy of the Bay Area, and Adam recalls his own brief comedy stint in Oakland during that same era.The episode also dives into behind-the-scenes moments from Celebrity Rehab, including a threatening voicemail from a former industry figure that David shares on-air. Dive into an offbeat discussion about Warwick Davis and his unforgettable roles, from the iconic leprechaun battling gangsters in Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood to the magical world of Willow. We explore the quirks of his monster leprechaun character, his humorously exaggerated persona in HBO's Life's Too Short, and even a bootlegged sequel to Willow. Along the way, we reminisce about St. Patrick's Day traditions, question Ireland's snake-free status, and reflect on how pinching classmates for not wearing green might be considered assault today. It's a sarcastic, witty journey through nostalgia, green shirts, and Warwick Davis's eclectic career.

History of the Bay Podcast Ep. 87: The Turf Feinz are a dance crew started in Oakland in the early 2000s that helped push the Bay Area style of turf dancing to the forefront. History of the Bay Podcast Ep. 85: Mistah F.A.B. has been at the center of the Bay Area hip-hop scene since he splashed on the scene as the Crown Prince of Hyphy in the early 2000s. Growing up in North Oakland, FAB's parents were in the street life but pushed him towards a different route. This led him to developing his talent as a rapper, putting out his first album "Nig-Latin" through Straight Hits Entertainment with Jazzy Jim and Gary Archer. This eventually led to him catching the attention of Mac Dre, and FAB's debut album "Son of a Pimp" dropped on Thizz Entertainment. This conversation about FAB's early career is like a history of Bay Area rap in itself, touching on artists like Andre Nickatina, The Jacka, Souls of Mischief, Too Short, Messy Marv, and many more. -- For promo opportunities on the podcast, e-mail: info@historyofthebay.com -- History of the Bay Spotify Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ZUM4rCv6xfNbvB4r8TVWU?si=9218659b5f4b43aa Online Store: https://dregsone.myshopify.com Follow Dregs One: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1UNuCcJlRb8ImMc5haZHXF?si=poJT0BYUS-qCfpEzAX7mlA Instagram: https://instagram.com/dregs_one TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dregs_one Twitter: https://twitter.com/dregs_one Facebook: https://facebook.com/dregsone415 00:00 Introduction 05:13 Fab's parents in the street life 14:52 Choosing not to get in the streets 20:10 North Oakland history 24:00 Starting to rap 31:59 Gary Archer & D-Ray 34:09 “Nig Latin” album 38:53 Meeting Mac Dre 46:37 Andre Nickatina 49:40 “Super Sick Wid It” 56:39 “Son of a Pimp” album 58:58 Kanye West, Wake Up Show 1:02:48 “Backpack rap;” Souls of Mischief 1:10:20 The Freestyle King 1:16:12 Freestyle battles 1:21:25 The New Bay & the Hyphy Movement 1:26:54 Messy Marv 1:33:02 Hyphy era hits 1:36:27 Getting banned from KMEL 1:46:07 Ghost Ride It video 1:49:57 The Jacka 1:57:45 Community work --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/historyofthebay/support
