And although he may have had what it takes to be a pro racer, he instead decided to have a family and keep racing as a hobby. John was a talented computer programmer and developed a range of anti-virus software resulting in him starting McAfee Associates and becoming one of the biggest software companies on the planet. Unfortunately John was also taking an excessive level of drugs at the same. The result was John running to Guatemala, being accused of murder and ending up on the run. He eventually made it back to the United States in one piece but only just.
