POPULARITY
Only Eric would find a connection between National Paper Airplane Day and World Lindy Hop Day! And that's pretty much the only words he gets in once Tony LaStella and Marzia Caputo of West Coast Italian Radio join the program. They chat with Stacy about all things being Italian from hand gestures and cannoli to the North versus the South. It's a fun conversation that even show sponsor, Vance Dingfelder of Dingfelder's Delicatessen gets into while exploring his inner Italian. Learn more about Tony and Marzia at www.WCIR.biz and as always, check out www.dinfelders.com. Next week's topic; what's to watch (hopefully with a special guest).

As part of the famed Wrecking Crew, he played on recordings for The Monkees, Dean Martin, Merle Haggard and Elvis Presley. He was the guitar man on Frank Sinatra's Strangers in the Night and the The Irish Rovers Unicorn Song. He acted alongside John Wayne in his Oscar-winning role in True Grit. For a time, he was a freaking Beach Boy! As host of his own prime time television show, Glen Campbell worked with writers, Steve Martin and Rob Reiner, and with hits like Wichita Lineman, Gentle on my Mind and Galveston, Campbell was one of the biggest stars of the 1970s. Tonight on Windy City Irish Radio, Tim and Mike pay tribute the late great Rhinestone Cowboy with covers of his Jimmy Webb-penned classics from Dublin rockers Villagers and Little Green Cars, a John Hartfield tune made famous by Glen from Luka Bloom, and music from Glen himself covering U2. If that is not enough, tune in for a special preview of the Milwaukee Irish Fest with lots of music from the likes of Tyrone/Armagh band CĂșig, We Banjo 3, The Elders, Offaly/Tipperary's JigJam, and, in their fest (and WCIR) debut, Longford's Brave Giant. There are also tracks off of the NUMBER 1 RECORD ON THE WORLD MUSIC CHART FROM Gaelic Storm and from Limerick's Hermitage Green in Concert performing in Milwaukee and also at Chicago locales near and dear to your heart. WIndy City Irish Radio airs every Wednesday from 8PM - 9PM on WSBC 1240 AM and you can catch the podcast at www.windycityirishradio.com
St. Patrick was born in England in 385AD, was captured by pirates as a child and brought to Ireland, at which time he was called to Christianity. He escaped his captors and returned to Ireland as a missionary. In his teachings, he combined Irish pagan beliefs with Christian sacraments, devising the Celtic Cross. St. Patrick is honored around the world on March 17th, the anniversary of his death in 461AD. Windy City Irish Radio pays homage to St. Patrick in a 90-minute St. Patrick's Day broadcast. Tonight we welcome Miread Nesbitt, one of the newest members of the Celtic Woman, to the WCIR studios for a live interview about the upcoming show at the Chicago Theatre on March 16th. Join Mike Shevlin and Tim Taylor for our St. Patrick's Day special with music from the Wolfe Tones, Damaris Woods, Gaelic Storm, Black 47, Tupelo, The String Sisters, The Cheiftans, Nathalie MacMaster and much, much more. Tune in live Wednesday evenings at 8pm on WSBC 1240AM Chicago and WCFJ 1470AM Chicago Heights and to our weekly podcast at www.windycityirishradio.com. For requests or dedications contact tim.taylor@windycityirishradio.com.
March to Windy City Irish Radio is like December to Santa Claus -- It's another busy evening in the studio. The Southside Irish Parade has been the cornerstone of St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the Beverly neighborhood since 1979 and this year's parade on March 16th continues that longstanding tradition. Southside native, George Nedved with the South South Irish Parade Committee, stops in at the Windy City Irish Studios to tell us all about this year's parade. Join Mike Shevlin and Tim Taylor in the studio for all-things St. Patrick's Day along with music and a birthday celebration for the City of Chicago. Listen live on WSBC 1240AM Chicago and WCFJ 1470AM Chicago Heights.
