Since its initial publication in 2006, Designing Type has been translated into German, Spanish, French, Ukrainian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, and it has been ranked #14 on a list of "Top 50 Typography Books of the Last 50 Years" in the journal Visible Language. As a researcher, Cheng has investigated how scientists can collaborate with designers to aid public and interdisciplinary communication. She is co-author of the widely referenced "A Brief Guide to Designing Effective Figures for the Scientific Paper" and has published on the positive impact of visual design on scientific communication and the role of visual design critiques in research practice, in the Information Design Journal. Cheng holds a Master's Degree in Design from the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning and an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State. Valdoviño da este viernes 10 de abril el pistoletazo de salida a la segunda edición del Pasea y Tapea, una cita gastronómica que reunirá a 18 establecimientos hosteleros de 7 de las 8 parroquias del municipio a lo largo de tres fines de semana consecutivos. La iniciativa invita a vecinos y visitantes a descubrir la riqueza culinaria local a través de propuestas que combinan la tradición de la cocina gallega con elaboraciones más innovadoras. Las tapas tendrán un precio único de 2,5 euros, y cada consumición irá acompañada de una papeleta que los clientes podrán rellenar y depositar en las urnas habilitadas, entrando así en el sorteo de tres cestas con productos gastronómicos del territorio. Además, el certamen mantiene su carácter participativo: quienes completen la ruta por los 18 locales, sellando la tarjeta en cada parada, podrán elegir su tapa favorita y optar a una comida o cena valorada en 100 euros en el establecimiento ganador. Entre las propuestas de esta edición destacan creaciones como Tentación crocante de Pide&Pika, Delicatessen del mar de Valdoviño de Café Bar Piruliña, Midnight Blues de Las Olas by Pantín o la Empanada de cocido de A Taberna do Puntal, en un escaparate que promete convertir la gastronomía en uno de los grandes atractivos de la primavera. La organización ha establecido tres franjas horarias de degustación, adaptadas a los diferentes locales, con servicio al mediodía y por la noche durante viernes, sábados y domingos.
