Matthew Becklo, Publishing Director for Word on Fire and author of The Way of Heaven and Earth, joins the Son Rise Morning Show to explore the Protestant Reformation's famous five “solas” and the Catholic “both/and” approach to questions of faith, works, grace, Scripture, Tradition, and the Church. Becklo explains why Catholics can affirm the importance of the truths emphasized by the Reformers while rejecting the idea that they must stand alone or in opposition to other dimensions of Christian faith. His central theme is that Catholicism holds together realities that can mistakenly be treated as either/or choices.Support the show: https://www.sacredheartradio.com/donate-now/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Si te hace caso, has salvado a tu hermano. - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - This weekend in our summer series entitled “What Matters to God,” we will be considering the timeless truths that came to be known as the “Solas.” The word “sola” is Latin for “alone.” So, we will be looking at the biblical-theological affirmations of scripture alone, faith alone, grace alone, Christ alone, and the glory of God alone. Though Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy don't avow those truths, they are firmly grounded in God's word and church history. So, may the Lord teach us through the scriptures and strengthen our faith as we look to him.
Conas taoi? How are ye? Welcome back to Candlelit Tales, the podcast where we tell Irish myths, carried by an original musical score. We recently wrapped up the Fianna Saga, and we're taking a well-earned break from storytelling to bring you this longer, more relaxed chat. In this episode, Aron sits down with Ruadhán Ó Deasmhúnaigh and Tomás Whelan, the two founders of a small festival off the west coast of Cork called Féile Solas. It's a celebration of the Summer Solstice and a gathering of like-minded people who want to tune into a slightly different frequency. We've had many great conversations about the artists, the atmosphere, the theatricality and the music behind this festival, and we're delighted to finally share this one with you. This episode was also released on Eist Radio, an online radio station, so we are sharing it here as well for our listeners. We get into what drove them to put on an independent music festival in West Cork, and share some of the music that will feature on the main stage. Today, on Karl and Crew, we wrapped up our weekly theme, “Best of 1 Peter.” Dr. Richard Blackaby joined us to explain how experiencing God begins with hearing His Word, responding in obedience, and building daily habits that lead to spiritual maturity. Dr. Blackaby is the President of Blackaby Ministries International and author of “Experiencing God in Everyday Life: A Journey Toward Spiritual Maturity.” We then had Dr. Andy Bannister join us to explain how believers can be prepared to share the hope of Christ with gentleness and respect, while listening well to those who believe differently. Dr. Bannister is the Director of Solas and the author of several books, including “How to Talk About Jesus Without Looking Like An Idiot.” We then opened up the phone lines to hear from our listeners. We posed the question, "Who did God use to help walk you into freedom in Christ?”You can hear the highlights of today’s program on the Karl and Crew Showcast.

Welcome back to another episode of the MC Anime Podcast! I'm your host, and today we are diving headfirst into a world of magic, political intrigue, and ancient gods. We're leaving the shores of our favorite anime for a moment to explore the sprawling continent of Thedas. Whether you're a die-hard fan of the Grey Wardens or you've just recently heard the name "Solas" whispered in dread, today's journey through the Dragon Agefranchise is one you won't want to miss.To help us navigate the Deep Roads and the high spires of Tevinter, I am incredibly excited to introduce our guest, Steven. Not only is Steven a seasoned gamer with a deep love for RPG storytelling, but he also brings a unique perspective to the table as a Culinary Major and Pastry Specialist. I've always said that crafting a perfect game world is a lot like baking—it requires the right ingredients, a lot of patience, and just the right amount of "heat" to make the story rise.In this episode, we're breaking down the entire Dragon Age franchise, from the gritty, tactical roots of Originsto the high-octane action of the latest entry. Thedas is a world that has evolved right before our eyes, shifting its tone and its stakes with every release. Steven and I will be looking at how the lore has expanded—or in some cases, been completely redefined—over nearly two decades of storytelling. We'll also be getting technical with the playability of the characters. From the silent protagonist of the Fereldan Blight to the fully voiced, highly reactive heroes of the modern era, the way we inhabit these characters has changed drastically. We're going to discuss the shift from tactical, "pause-and-play" combat to the modern action-RPG style, and whether that change has helped or hindered the emotional connection we feel with our companions.Of course, we can't talk Dragon Age without talking about choice. This series is famous for its branching storylines and the way a single decision can ripple across centuries of history. We'll be discussing how the narrative unfolds to reveal changed outcomes, and how the latest games handle the massive weight of a decade's worth of player decisions. Does the world truly remember what you did, or is the Fade shifting the memory of the past? Finally, we'll be mixing a bit of Steven's professional expertise with our fandom. We might even find out which Dragon Age companion would be the best (or worst) assistant in a professional kitchen. It's going to be a fun, informative, and deeply personal look at one of gaming's most beloved series. So, grab your staff, sharpen your daggers, and maybe a snack—it's time to talk Dragon Age.As we wrap up today's episode of the MC Anime Podcast, I want to give a massive thank you to Steven for joining us. Getting to see the world of Thedas through the lens of someone who appreciates both fine storytelling and the precision of pastry arts has been a treat. It's clear that whether we're talking about anime or epic RPGs, the heart of what we love is the community and the conversation. Dragon Age has given us a world that is as complex and messy as our own, and I hope today's discussion inspired you to jump back into your favorite save file—or maybe finally try that recipe you've been eyeing. Until next time, stay curious, stay geeky, and we'll see you back here for the next episode!Want to be a guest on MC Anime Podcast?
What is it that holds you back from sharing the Gospel? For most of us, it boils down to a lack of confidence. We don't have confidence in our knowledge to field difficult questions, we don't have confidence that we won't get 'cancelled' and we might even lack confidence in our own faith itself. So you're not alone! That's why Solas runs 'Confident Christianity' training across the UK to help churches regain their confidence in evangelism. Gavin Matthews and Steve Osmond explain how it works and who it helps. To find out how Confident Christianity can help your church, visit the Solas website here.Gavin Matthews is Solas's Assistant Director (Scotland) and does a wide variety of work for the organisation. He speaks for Solas in churches and at conferences, co-ordinates the website, writes articles and other Solas communications and presents webinars and podcasts. He also loves networking for Solas and speaking with church leaders about our work. Gavin has been married to Elaine since 1996 and they have three adult children. He has been a member of Perth Baptist Church since 1999.Steve Osmond is a full-time speaker and writer for Solas, focussing primarily on Scotland. He is enthusiastic about evangelism and regularly speaks at universities around the country on the big questions of life and the truth of Christianity from a range of perspectives. He also spends much of his time working with churches and other Christian groups, both to grow their faith and equip them to share their faith in Jesus persuasively.
03 May 2026 | This week Pastor Evan continues our 5 Solas sermon series in John 14:5 on the doctrine of Christ Alone. John 14:5 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”
12 April 2026 | This week Pastor Evan begins a new sermon series on the 5 Solas of the Reformation, starting the series on Sola Scriptura, the doctrine of the bible being the sole, infallible, and supreme authority for faith and practice in a Christian's life. 2 Timothy 3:14-17 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Today is the day before our Spring SHARE begins, and we spent time praising God's power in our lives. We asked callers, "What reminds you of what you've been saved from?" One of our guests included Jed Coppenger. He is the lead pastor of First Baptist Church in Cumming, Georgia. He is also a speaker and author. We highlighted his book, "Fake Christianity: 10 Traps of an Inauthentic Faith", as we discussed the influence of counterfeit gospels in our culture. Then, we had Dr. Andy Bannister join us to discuss how to know the absolute Truth and share that Truth with someone in a loving and gentle way when there are opposing ideas. Dr. Bannister is the Director of Solas, and he speaks and teaches regularly throughout the UK, Europe, Canada, the USA, and the wider world. He addresses audiences of Christians and people of all faiths, or none, on issues related to faith, culture, politics, and society. He also hosts 2 podcasts called PEP Talk and Pod of the Gaps. He also wrote several books, including “Have you Ever Wondred?" Finally, we invited Dr. Hormoz Shariat back for more updates on the situation in Iran. Dr. Shariat is the Founder and President of Iran Alive Ministries (IAM), which uses satellite broadcasting and the internet to reach Iranians with the gospel. Dr. Shariat has been named “the Billy Graham of Iran” and “the most influential Iranian American” by Christianity Today.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued our weekly theme of “Who Am I” with discussions about having our identity rooted in Christ. When our identity aligns with Christ, it helps us answer the question “Am I enough?” And because of Jesus’s sacrifice, we know the answer is yes. Then we had Philip Miller join us to discuss further how to find our identity in Christ rather than in the world. Philip is the Senior Pastor of Moody Church in Chicago. He can also be heard on the weekly Moody Church Hour radio broadcast on over 700 stations nationwide. You can also listen to Pastor Philip on the daily program, Living Hope, at 11 am CT, across the Moody Network. Then, we had Dr. Andy Bannister join us to discuss how to share the truth with someone in a loving and gentle way when there are opposing ideas. Dr. Bannister is the Director of Solas, and he speaks and teaches regularly throughout the UK, Europe, Canada, the USA, and the wider world.
