¡Hola a todos los amantes del vinilo! Hoy vamos a hablar de “Long Live to Rock'n' Roll”, el tercer disco de estudio de Rainbow, aunque en realidad es su cuarto álbum. Antes de este, sacaron el directo “On Stage”, que si aún no lo habéis escuchado, ¡corre que se acaba el mundo! Rainbow, para los que no los conozcáis, fue una banda fundamental en la historia del rock. Muchas de las bandas de la New Wave of British Heavy Metal, como Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, Saxon o Judas Priest, se inspiraron en ellos. Podríamos decir que Rainbow es como un puente entre Deep Purple y Led Zeppelin con el NWBHM. Y ahora, ¡vamos a por este “Long Live Rock'n'Roll”! Grabado en 1977 en un castillo convertido en estudio en Francia y publicado en 1978 bajo el sello Polydor, este disco llevó a Rainbow al Top 10 británico, convirtiéndose en uno de los discos clave del heavy metal de finales de los 70. Aunque creemos que Rainbow no necesita muchas presentaciones entre vosotros, antes de empezar con el podcast, os hacemos un resumen rapidito de su historia desde sus inicios hasta la grabación de este disco que os traemos hoy. Rainbow nació en 1975, cuando Ritchie Blackmore decidió dejar Deep Purple en pleno éxito. Buscaba algo diferente: alejarse del sonido más clásico de la banda y explorar una música más personal, más cercana a la fantasía y a sus influencias clásicas. Para ello, se rodeó de los músicos de Elf, entre ellos un cantante prácticamente desconocido en ese momento: Ronnie James Dio. Blackmore no descubrió a Elf por casualidad… los tuvo delante durante meses, como teloneros de Deep Purple. Cada noche veía a Ronnie James Dio subir al escenario… y poco a poco se dio cuenta de que ahí había algo especial. Algo que no encajaba en Deep Purple… pero sí en lo que él tenía en mente. As I said last episode, a lot of the energy of rock n roll came from youthful rebellion against the culture, values, and politics of the older generation.  This was a big deal in the 1950's, with Elvis and his dancing, and suggestive songs and bands, but the youthful rebellion thing went to a whole other level in the 1960's. While pop rockers like the Beatles created sort of sappy love songs, there were also a bunch of rock n roll musicians whose music was a more direct and critical rejection of old people culture.  

This week we sit down with Tesla guitarist Dave Rude to talk about the new album, "Homage" and the summer tour with Motley Crue and Extreme.
