SAL is an Irish singer-songwriter with a difference. Her music explores the many colours in the spectrum of folk music music, always showcasing her own versatility as an artist, whilst maintaining her pop sensibilities. Originally hailing from County Kildare, Ireland, SAL has spent her recent years in Cork, Ireland, creating and performing all the time. After signing a management deal with London based Charlie B Management, SAL was unveiled at Liverpool Irish Festival 2021, where she showcased a set of brand new material with her band. SAL has underwent international touring since 2019 all across Europe, from the UK to Germany to Switzerland. Her music maintains obscure and vibrant pop sensibilities, with organic indie folk at the foundation of her writing. In the world of live music, SAL has covered a huge amount of ground, from gracing stages in some of Ireland's most prestigious venues and festivals, to regular shows in the UK and Germany. Along the way, she has shared the stage with some amazing artists, such as Declan O'Rourke, Aimee, Scullion, Hermitage Green, Mick Flannery, The Stunning, Luka Bloom, Wyvern Lingo, and many more. 2023 was a big year for SAL. Every single release of SAL impressively reaching to Number #1 on the Irish iTunes Charts consecutively, she then did a national tour of Ireland supporting the brilliant TOUCAN, performing sold out shows in venues such as Theatre, Royal Waterford and Whelan's Dublin. After connecting with new audiences at shows in London during the summer, the artist spent winter 2023 touring with Declan O'Rourke in Cork and Killarney on his upcoming acoustic tour and also touring with Niall McCabe across Ireland. SAL started 2024 including a highly successful sold out tour of Germany in February and supporting Stephanie Rainey on her sold out tour of Ireland. With another German tour to follow this year, UK tour and Spanish dates to follow, SAL is only getting started.

What makes a great love song? By chatting about our favourites maybe we can find the common elements. We were inspired by recording our 69th episode in the middle of February which felt like the right convergence of events to talk about songs that express a sentiment of love. Not lust. Not fleeting moments of teenage attraction. Not a rendezvous at the local discotheque. Long lasting, true, heartfelt, dedicated love. But also the pang of love lost - or true love yet to come to fruition. Featured songs: Pagan Poetry by Bjork, from Vespertine, 2001 To Make You Feel My Love by Adele, from 19, 2008 To Make You Feel My Love Trisha Yearwood, from Hope Floats soundtrack, 1998 A Chicken with its Head Cut Off and I Don't Want to get Over You by The Magnetic Fields, from 69 Love Songs, 1999 Everlong by Foo Fighters, from The Colour and the Shape, 1997 Ore D'Amore by Mike Patton, from Mondo Cane, 2010 Gold to Me by Ben Harper, from Fight for Your Mind, 1995 Soldier by Richard Dawson, from Peasant, 2017 Fix You by Cold Play, from X&Y, 2005 Good Woman by Cat Power, from You Are Free, 2003 All I Need by Radiohead, from In Rainbows, 2007 La La Love You by The Pixies, Doolittle, 1989 Is This Love by Bob Marley, from Kaya, 1978 Lover, You Should Have Come Over by Jeff Buckley, from Grace, 1994 I Can't Help Falling in Love and I Need Love by Luka Bloom, from Acoustic Motorbike, 1992 Socials: Fb: https://www.facebook.com/supersonicchat Electronic mailing system: supersonicchat@gmail.com The Twits: https://twitter.com/chat_sonic Insta: https://www.instagram.com/supersonicchat --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/supersonicchat/message

Luister of download (https://radio2.nu/DannyGuinan)
What an awesome bunch of girls. They tell me about living with anxiety and how each song tells a story from meeting a Liverpool Boy to a song about an abusive relationship. Their passion and gritty music will have you hooked wanting more. Hailing from English city, Derby, MuddiBrooke was born when ‘Brooke' Harriet McDonnell on lead vocals and guitar, bassist and backing vocalist Anna Melidone and drummer Mary Prince aligned their bold enterprise and musical passions. The band stepped forth January 2020, a fresh breath of adventure and intimacy but a proposal equally nurtured by the years of experiences embraced by its members, the playing of many prestigious festivals and alongside the likes of The Beautiful South, Luka Bloom, Dr and The Medics and much more among them. The trio's sound is a fusion of alternative rock and grunge but one just as hungry to subsume a host of varied flavours to its impassioned character. It is a striking and enthralling affair, which is unveiled within the band's debut single ‘Turn To Dust'. Released this May, the track openly bared its heart whilst being an echo for a moment so many can personally relate to. The threesome's songs also relish an instinctive individuality, from each other and those of others, which will be in evidence over the next ten months as MuddiBrooke plan to release another single that will lead to their Debut EP and subsequently a UK Tour. When honest passion and fertile imagination affiliates with prowess and daring, special moments are woven… Welcome to Muddibrooke..... Explicit permission has been given by the artists to play their songs and interview. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/neil-clark10/message

Anne is a singer, songwriter and community stalwart living in Miltown Malbay not too far away from me here in County Clare on the wild west coast of Ireland. Anne took up the guitar in her 60s and since then has created and released 2 albums. It might be no surprise that music was calling Anne given her family background. She grew up in Co Kildare in the same household as two famous Irish folk musicians, Luka Bloom and Christy Moore. Anne is hugely respected in her community as a real force for love and courage. This episode was originally created for my other podcast, the Creative Souls of Clare podcast, and it got a great response so I thought Love and Courage listeners might enjoy it too. It was recorded over Zoom during one of the lockdown periods so the video version is also available if you just look up Anne Rynne Creative Souls of Clare.

Remember Suzanne Vega’s song “Luka?” It provided inspiration for a new name. And an icon with a career that spans over 60 years. This is episode 50 of Caffe Lena : 60 Years of Song . Thank you to Sarah at the Caffe for providing the list of artists and songs for the feature. Kevin Barry Moore was born in Ireland in 1955. Luka Bloom got his start in the United States in 1987 when Kevin Barry Moore started performing using a stage name. He took the name Luka from the Suzanne Vega song and Bloom came from the main character in James Joyce’s novel Ulysses. Judy Collins is the iconic American singer-songwriter with a career that spans over 60 years. Before the pandemic, she was still performing 120 shows per year. She says when audiences come to see her perform, they are thinking about their youth and hopefulness. Her voice is like a time machine. Caffe Lena: 60 Years of Song, a production of WEXT Radio.

This week on Windy City Irish Radio, we mourn the loss of a couple of rockers with unexpected Irish ties. The late great, Ric Ocasek of the The Cars, was the man behind the board producing the Black 47 classic record Fire of Freedom in the early 90's and had a tremendous impact on Larry Kirwan of Black 47 and the band. Eddie Mahoney, otherwise known as Eddie Money, thought about becoming a NYC police officer like his father but wanted to keep his long hair and made his way out to LA to become a rock star instead. The rest, of course, is rock n' roll history. Let us take you home tonight with music from Eddie Mahoney himself and from Black 47,The Fureys with "Davey Arthur", Luka Bloom, Scottish folders, Ímar, The River Drivers, Ye Vagabonds, Northern Irish rockers, The Logues, Solas, Robbie O'Connell, and birthday boy tribute for the man from Kildare, Bruce Springsteen and the Seeger Sessions Band. It's a lively one this week! Tune in to WSBC 1240 AM each and every Wednesday night from 8PM - 9PM and catch this week's firecracker of an episode here at www.windycityirishradio.com
Luka Bloom is one of Ireland’s best known and most respected contemporary folk artists. Originally from County Kildare, Luka Bloom has been singing and performing since the age of 14. He released his debut album Treaty Stone in 1978 and soon after moved to the Netherlands, where he remains hugely popular. He also previously lived in Washington DC and in New York, where he was signed by Reprise records, the iconic label that signed Tom Petty, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac and so many other greats. Over 20 albums on, Luka Bloom is living not to far from me on the west coast of County Clare while continuing to tour the world. His brother is the folk musician and previous guest of this podcast Christy Moore and his sister Anne Rynne is also a singer, songwriter and musician. I’ve seen Luka perform a number of times now and have always been struck by his unique sound and a real sense of social and ecological consciousness that ripples through his songs.

It’s a strange thing indeed to connect with a country on the other side of the world to where you grew up, so much so that you feel the same sadness when leaving it as you do when you leave home. But this is the experience of Luka Bloom, the great Irish songman who for more than 40 years has put his passion for social justice to music, and given voice to those who aren’t often heard or recognised. His songs have touched a chord in Australia, so much so that he has now toured the country more than a dozen times. In this episode of Streets of Your Town, Luka Bloom tells us about the euphoric joy he feels seeing a Fremantle sunset, and feeling the appreciation of his Australian fans, wherever he goes.
