Second day of pads has been physical.” (25:21 - 37:10) – Jake shares an analysis between Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson as quarterbacks and gives this QB battle a comparison to racing and how we need to “not overthink it.” (37:10 - 45:48) – Too many coincidences with Indianapolis Colts players who have joined Query & Company; Jake goes through them. That leads to a spirited deep dive into Boston's music history, with Hotshot tested on everything from Aerosmith to New Edition. Mitch drops a classic Sonics tale: the time he painted his face in silent protest on a live Sonics pay-per-view broadcast. Pete Carroll makes a podcast appearance — not here, but on Get Got with Marshawn Lynch and Michael Robinson — and throws light shade at Earl Thomas while diplomatically reflecting on his Seahawks departure. Marshawn lets him cook. Mariners No-Table, Brady Farkas reacts to a 30-run explosion in Chicago, marvels at Cal Raleigh's historic pace, and debates whether Cal should skip the Home Run Derby to stay fresh. JP Crawford's All-Star case gets real, Solano suddenly looks irreplaceable, and the lineup finally shows life from top to bottom. Jason Puckett returns for the KJ-Aren'ts, where Mitch discovers Puckett's age through a Thunder hate-watch article and recounts legendary sideline reporting drama during the 1996 NCAA Final Four.   GUESTS KJ-Aren'ts; Jason Puckett | Former KJR Host Mariners No-Table; Brady Farkas | Host, Refuse to Lose Podcast   TABLE OF CONTENTS 0:00 | Sonics PTSD flares up as Thunder hit the Finals. We recently heard about the “Unite 4 Veterans” rally, June 6th in Washington DC, where vets from around the country will make their voices heard in the loudest way possible … with the legendary Irish punk band The Dropkick Murphys. We spoke with Unite4Vets coalition members Army veterans Will Attig and Chris Purdy. Together they sounded the alarm about recent VA cuts without regard to the second order effects on veterans who rely on these programs. In a recent statement, Unite 4 Veterans said, “The Unite 4 Veterans Coalition stands in firm opposition to recent actions and proposals from the White House that amount to political theater at the direct expense of our nation's veterans … The administration's proposal to eliminate more than 80,000 positions from the VA and terminate thousands of jobs held by veterans and their families in the federal workforce is a betrayal. Veterans make up more than a third of the federal workforce. Cutting their positions while simultaneously gutting the VA staff that manages transition programs like the G.I. Bill and VA vocational rehabilitation is not about efficiency, it's neglect! This administration's priorities could not be clearer: spend over $50 million on a military parade while slashing programs like the Veterans Affairs Servicing Purchase (VASP) program—a proven resource that kept over 17,000 vulnerable veteran families housed. This is not sound policy; it is political optics at the expense of those who've sacrificed the most.” We also discuss the combat connection veterans have to Boston's legendary punk band The Dropkick Murphys, and how they've always been huge supporters of first responders, veterans and America's often ignored working class. The Pogues were a Celtic punk band formed in London in 1982, blending traditional Irish folk music with the raw energy of punk rock. The band was founded by Shane MacGowan, Spider Stacy, and Jem Finer, and their name is derived from the Irish phrase “póg mo thóin” (meaning “kiss my arse”).Musical Style and ImpactThe Pogues became known for their mix of traditional Irish instruments (like the tin whistle, accordion, and banjo) with punk's rebellious energy. Their lyrics often told gritty, poetic tales of life, love, drinking, and Irish identity.Key Albums & SongsRed Roses for Me (1984) – Their debut album, featuring early classics like “Streams of Whiskey.”Rum Sodomy & the Lash (1985) – Produced by Elvis Costello, this album included “A Pair of Brown Eyes” and “The Old Main Drag.”If I Should Fall from Grace with God (1988) – Their most successful album, featuring “Fairytale of New York” (a Christmas classic featuring Kirsty MacColl) and “Thousands Are Sailing.”Peace and Love (1989) and Hell's Ditch (1990) – Continued their unique sound, with hits like “Misty Morning, Albert Bridge.”Band Turmoil & Lineup ChangesShane MacGowan, the band's charismatic but troubled frontman, was fired in 1991 due to alcohol and drug issues. The band continued with different singers, including Joe Strummer (The Clash), but they disbanded in 1996. They reunited in 2001 and played sporadically until 2014.LegacyThe Pogues influenced countless folk-punk bands, from Dropkick Murphys to Flogging Molly. Their music remains a staple of Irish culture, and “Fairytale of New York” is still one of the most beloved holiday songs.Shane MacGowan's PassingShane MacGowan passed away in November 2023, marking the end of an era. Despite their ups and downs, The Pogues' music continues to inspire and resonate with fans worldwide.#ThePogues #CelticPunk#IrishFolk #FolkPunk#PunkRock #ShaneMacGowan#FairytaleOfNewYork#RumSodomyAndTheLash#CelticMusichttps://www.facebook.com/share/12GhRB4QuoZ/?mibextid=wwXIfrhttps://www.instagram.com/dark_streets_official?igsh=dXhwNXFkdzIyYnA5https://www.darkstreetsnyc.comhttps://youtu.be/j9jbdgZidu8?si=E2KUw98_dxZ-WA8whttp://www.pogues.com/https://www.instagram.com/thepoguesofficial?igsh=MTR6Z2s2eXRwa2hsNw==https://www.facebook.com/share/1ACvbA4GCX/?mibextid=wwXIfrhttps://x.com/poguesofficial?s=21&t=Mzw5de5zsR-SDDbhyzH0Lg
