As heard on the Johnny Dare Morning Show: Follow Chuck Smith as he rides to raise awareness for fathersclub.org , and shine a light on teen suicide prevention. In Chuck's own words... "Why Chuck's Last Ride? Sept, 2015 I was diagnosed with colon cancer. I had basically complete blockage from a mass. within days of diagnoses, 18 inches of my colon and 8 or so inches of my small intestine were removed. From this point the battle was on! I made the conscious decision to face this with an upbeat, positive attitude. I would not let cancer control my life or effect the life of my family. I worked for 3 straight years while undergoing several different chemo and radiation procedures. During this time the cancer decided to use my body as a play ground and move to my liver and now to my lungs. I decided to walk away from work and live what ever life i had remaining and thanks to the wonderful people I worked for they enabled me to do so. I have undergone 9 micro wave ablations, y90 radiation procedures, developed radiation sickness which almost destroyed my liver and so many other chemo and trials i've lost count. Needless to say 6 yrs have gone by and the numbers are starting to climb and were having a hard time to bring them back. Basically my time on this earth is starting to come to close, which I am totally comfortable with because i have had wonderful past 6 years of laughs, cries, a couple real cool bucket list items checked off and some goodtimes with family and friends. I have no complaints. Now to the ride.I was planning a solo ride to just get out and clear my head and see some places i have never been, maybe clear any demons i had in the closest. But approx 3 months ago my world was rocked to the fabric of my soul. I was personally impacted by a 14 year old youth who tried to take his life with a butcher knife, he almost bled out but thankfully he survived. since that day i have been determined (obcessed). with putting a stop to teen suicide. This ride now has powerful purpose, to educate, raise awareness and some funding to provide services needed to help parents recognize warning signs, provide counseling for these youth and there families as needed. Also to help families who tragically weren't able to preventthis from happening. I have partnered with a group called father's club. A grass roots organization of fathers determined to help our youth. There is a button at the top of this page to click to take you to there web page to learn about them and donate if you wish to. they are a non profit organization and your donations are a tax write off. My kick stand is going up on the 14th of August, I will post daily updates of my route and some videos and pics and some words of inspiration. So, please join me, together we can pull these young men and woman out of the dark place they are and shine a little light and let them know they are loved and remove the thought that suicide is there only option. Chuck Carroll is truly “The Weight Loss Champion.”At his heaviest, he weighed 420 pounds and had amassed a 66-inch waist while requiring a size 6xl shirt. At just 5-foot-6, his tiny frame struggled to support his enormous figure. A severe food addiction continued to fuel an unhealthy lifestyle as his waist expanded at such a pace that soon it would outgrow even the big and tall catalog. Yet, he convinced himself that he needed to continue down that path in order to remain a personality on radio station BIG 100.3 (WBIG-FM) in Washington, DC.Still, there were times when, like millions of others battling the bulge, he tried and failed to lose weight. He was even once paid to endorse a program called The Cookie Diet. But like every other attempt, the success he achieved was short-lived as the weight came pouring back on and then some. The money he was paid for schilling the cookies quickly evaporated at the nearest drive-thru.Fearing that his life was spiraling out of control and nearing an end, he opted to undergo weight loss surgery. Prior to the procedure he was convinced that the drastic measure would become like all the other failed attempts to lose weight. At least, he thought, he could go to his grave confident that he tried everything.Chuck was just 27 years old at the time and didn’t think he would live to see 30.But then the unexpected happened. He woke up from the surgery and never looked back.Although a critical component, the surgery proved only to be the first step in his journey. In fact, he only attributes 10 percent of his weight loss success to the procedure. In just over a year, Chuck shed 265 pounds by conquering food addiction and devoting himself to a healthier lifestyle. He’s now maintaining the weight loss by eating a plant-based diet. Going vegan once seemed unthinkable to Chuck, but now it’s going back to eating processed meat and dairy that would be inconceivable. The confidence he gained from the weight loss enabled him to pursue his dream of becoming a sports reporter. He has hosted a number of radio shows with NFL players. One of the players gave him the nickname of “The Weight Loss Champion” after news of his transformation spread through the locker room. Shortly thereafter, Chuck’s career took a twist when he became a reporter for the all-news CBS station in Washington. From there, he went on to anchor national newscasts at NBC News Radio. Yet, he felt something was still missing in his professional life. He wanted to give back and inspire others to follow in his footsteps whether they had already lost weight or were just beginning their weight loss journey. His journey took another twist in 2017 when he adopted a plant-based diet at the urging of WWE Superstar Austin Aries which kicked his health into overdrive! The following year, he teamed up with PCRM to launch The Exam Room™ podcast where he has interviewed the biggest names in the plant-based community, including Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, and Dr. Michael Greger. The show has grown to become one of the most downloaded nutrition podcasts in the world. To date he has lost an astonishing 280 pounds. What we talked about:6:45- How Chuck got into sports media7:55- How he got the nickname “the weightloss champion”10:50- Chuck’s journey with food addiction20:45- The point in his life where he made a change in his lifestyle26:05- The weight loss surgery that he got29:50- Why fad diets aren’t solutions for long-term weightloss32:30- Why Chuck became vegan38:25- What his transition to a plant based diet looked like42:40- If he varies his meals and snacks day to day43:45- The fear of hosting a party and the guests not enjoying the plant-based food 45:40- If Chuck practices intermittent fasting46:25- What a typical day of eating looks like for Chuck51:30- What to do when there is someone in your life doesn’t have the same eating habits as you55:15- Chuck’s long term goals with health57:45- Wrap-upShow notes:Chuck Carroll on InstagramChuck Carroll on TwitterThe Exam Room Podcast by the Physicians CommitteeConnect with Stacey:Stacey on InstagramStacey’s WebsiteJoin The Herban Farmacy Facebook GroupShop BeautycounterSandyBoy Productions Shows:Why is Everyone Yelling? The Up and Running PodcastThe Illuminate PodcastI’ll Have Another with Lindsey Hein

He was one of the original software developers of the oil and gas accounting system named "GOALS", and has continued to support GOALS clients since the beginning. He will be retiring at the end of 2019 and is slowly phasing out of his client support work.   Associated Systems, Inc., located in Wichita, Kansas, was founded in 1974 as a software consulting and development enterprise and has a long history of successes. One of those being the longevity of its customer base and its employees. Over the years, ASI has installed over 450 systems nationwide in its vertical markets.   ASI began with its first Oil & Gas customer in 1974, and they remain a customer to this day. The original system was designed and developed for the IBM System 32, and as Systems 34, 36 and AS/400 were introduced, ASI’s software products evolved to take advantage of the increased features and abilities of those systems. With the advent of the PC, the software was re-written and was made accessible and affordable for operations of all sizes. It was named “GOALS” for Gas, Oil And Land Systems and it revolutionized the way the smaller producer managed his business.   Connect with Chuck: LinkedIn | Associated Systems   About SherWare, Inc. The wait is over. Chuck Marohn, Strong Towns’s founder and president, is back with an all-new episode of the Strong Towns Podcast! Thank you to all our listeners who were patient with us during our several-month hiatus. We did share a Greatest Hits series featuring eleven of the best Strong Towns Podcast episodes from the early days—before most of our current listeners were with us—and if you didn’t have a chance to give those a listen, we definitely recommend checking them out. You can find them in the Strong Towns Podcast feed wherever you get your podcasts (iTunes, etc). If you’re a regular listener, you’ve probably caught on by now as to why Chuck took some time off from recording new podcasts. Since last fall, he’s been furiously writing his first real, honest-to-goodness book: Strong Towns: A Bottom-Up Revolution to Rebuild American Prosperity. The book is available for pre-order now, and will be available in stores and online October 1st. We’ve even got some goodies available for those who pre-order. Pre-order details and instructions are here, so go reserve your copy! Yes, we’ve self-published a few Strong Towns essay collections before, but this is an all-new, full-length work that aims to capture the heart of the Strong Towns message and distill it for a much larger audience than we’ve ever been able to reach before. And we could not be more excited. Check out this brand new podcast to get the full scoop from Chuck, including a number of details that haven’t been shared yet anywhere else. This episode discusses: Why Chuck started writing a book years ago, and why he didn’t finish it. How this one is different. And why he thinks this time, the time was right. Who this is for, and what we hope readers will get out of it. How we hope the Strong Towns conversation can be your “antidote” to the crazy, overheated rhetoric of national politics as another election season ramps up. A full breakdown of what all ten chapters are about. Maybe most exciting of all, Chuck will give you a little sneak peek of what we have planned for the Strong America Tour, kicking off in fall 2019. This national tour will take not just the book but the Strong Towns movement on the road in a way we’ve never done before. Chuck will be: Presenting a brand new presentation, including some “Choose Your Own Adventure” content so audiences can vote on what they want to hear that’s most relevant to their community; Spotlighting local efforts to build stronger towns, and helping local advocates connect with each other; Signing copies of Strong Towns, of course; and last but not least, documenting the tour, with the help of Strong Towns staff and volunteers, in a special Strong America e-book to be released afterwards! We’re so excited about this. And glad to have you on board the movement to build a nation of Strong Towns.
