Using more than 99% target language, 听故事学中文Learning Chinese through Stories(LCTS) creates authentic and immersive podcasts to help people around the world develop Chinese language skills and cultural competency. It covers a wide range of topics and proficiency levels(Novice, Intermediate, Advanced). Every story has two parts: story (A) and story explanation (B), accompanied by annotated vocabulary and transcript. For example, an episode titled "2.3.12 A" means this episode is at the level of Intermediate High (2.3), is the 12th episode created for this level, and is the story, not story explanation. Listeners of 听故事学中文 Learning Chinese through Stories that love the show mention:The ?????? Learning Chinese through Stories podcast is an incredible resource for anyone learning Mandarin Chinese. The hosts of the podcast are passionate about what they do and it shines through in the content they produce. Their genuine enjoyment of creating podcasts and their interesting yet accessible content make this podcast stand out from others in the same genre. One aspect that sets this podcast apart is their ability to rephrase sentences and repeat information in a way that makes learning easier without disrupting the flow of the narrative. This makes it much easier to understand and retain the information being presented.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the skillful way in which complex material is broken down and explained by the teacher. Even though the topics covered may be challenging, her explanations make them accessible without requiring constant reference to a dictionary or vocabulary list. This allows listeners to learn more effectively by immersing themselves in her explanations rather than solely relying on the content of the stories themselves.
Another strength of this podcast is its relevance to intermediate learners. Many Chinese-teaching resources are either geared towards children or complete beginners, leaving a gap for those who already have a solid foundation in Chinese but want to continue improving their language skills. This podcast fills that niche perfectly by providing sophisticated themes and stories aimed at an adult audience with enough knowledge of Chinese to understand a fully Chinese-narrated podcast.
Despite its many strengths, one possible drawback of this podcast is that it may be too challenging for absolute beginners or those with very limited knowledge of Mandarin. However, even for those at a beginner level, listening to this podcast and reading along with the episode details can still lead them in the right direction towards learning Chinese effectively.
In conclusion, The ?????? Learning Chinese through Stories podcast is a remarkable resource for intermediate learners looking to improve their Mandarin skills through immersive listening practice. The hosts' clear pronunciation and standard accents make it great listening practice, while their explanations ensure that listeners gain a deeper understanding of the language. With interesting content and a format that promotes learning and reviewing, this podcast is highly recommended for anyone looking to enhance their Chinese listening comprehension and vocabulary.

It's adapted based on an article written by Laoshe 老舍(1899-1966). 老舍 is a highly influential Chinese writer and playwright known for his significant contributions to 20th-century Chinese literature. Born in Beijing, he had a deep connection with the city and its people, which is often reflected in his works. Lao She's writing is characterized by a keen sense of social observation and a subtle, often satirical, sense of humor. His works offer profound insights into the complexities of human nature and the evolving social landscapes of his time. Some of his most notable works include: "Rickshaw Boy" (骆驼祥子): This novel is one of Lao She's most celebrated works and tells the story of the struggles of a rickshaw puller in Beijing. It explores themes of poverty, ambition, and the challenges faced by the working class in the city. "Teahouse" (茶馆): A renowned play, "Teahouse" is considered a classic of modern Chinese drama. Set in a Beijing teahouse, it spans 50 years of Chinese history, offering a rich portrayal of society's transformation during that period. "Cat" (猫): This novella tells the story of a stray cat's experiences in 1930s Beijing. Through the cat's encounters with various people, it explores the complexities of human society and social hierarchies. -R&S ************************************************************ Brilliant Idea #1 If you need something rock solid in your life and someone shared this podcast with you, or you think you already subscribed on Apple Podcast/Spotify, support us by becoming a transcript member. This trip gave their children a more direct understanding of Chinese culture and the various aspects of Chinese life, including using WeChat Pay and Meituan for daily activities. The only challenge was the prevalence of smoking in public places. Enjoy. ************************************************************ Brilliant Idea #1 If you need something rock solid in your life and someone shared this podcast with you, or you think you already subscribed on Apple Podcast/Spotify, support us by becoming a transcript member.
