After 35 years in education and coaching over 110 sports teams from beginners to the international level then sad to that living with and surviving cancer I've got lots to say!
Coach V gets heavy with a prostate cancer message during prostate cancer awareness month. Not for the faint of heart but for the man's man who want to be here for their loved ones and be who they want to be not who they are forces to be because of prostate cancer. Only watch this if you are man enough to hear the truth can you "handle the truth"? Don't be a Goofus be a Gallant.Support the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)
Coach V uses 3 different talking points as he jumps around trying to get his listeners to understand the simple message, nothing worth having is free. Ryan Powell had a t-shirt a while back that said, "The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary", Coach V had a mantra, "Everyone hates to lose, the difference between me and everyone else is how hard I am willing to work not to lose." and lastly he talks about the 10,000-hour principle from the Malcolm Gladwell book, "The Outliers". Have fun jumping around with coach V, he hopes you get the message that the only things in life worth having are those that you actually worked for!Support the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)
Today's show covers the history of your high school sports regardless of where you coach and the importance of acknowledging and sharing that history with your athletes. Coach believes challenging your athletes to leave their own legacy and be part of the history that deserves to be remembered is a great motivator! Coach talks about his early experiences of witnessing greatness in athletics at Carthage and the importance of not letting that history be forgotten. The show shifts focus to a Carthage Comet event this summer where athletes will gather to share stories of the past and in doing so make sure some of these stories are remembered and passed down. Anyone wanting information on this event should email luke.clarke.228@gmail.com, see you at the event on August 21st in Watertown at the Hilton Garden InnSupport the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)
Coach V returns with a vengeance and tongue in cheek thanks to Covid for a not-so-great year. Coach does his best to not be political but ends up being "just a little political"! Coach concentrates on the sports seasons lost at the HS and college level and how these poor kids were cheated out of athletics for almost a year! Thanks, Covid!Support the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)
Today Coach V will relive the hunt that allows him to take his "Buck of a lifetime"! Not the biggest buck in the world by any means but a trophy for his wall none the less. Sit back and enjoy the hunt!Support the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)
Coach V recalls stories of his past that involve mishaps that could only happen to him....or could they only happen to him? Coach uses the phrase "What's the worst thing that could happen?", as the precursor to the fact he's probably going to find out!Support the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)
Former Adelphia head coach Paul "Doc" Doherty, a National Lacrosse Hall Of Farmer, is remembered by Coach 24 with stories of Paul's life and accomplishments. Paul passed away earlier this spring from complications from Parkinson's Disease. Paul was a volunteer assistant at Carthage after he retired from Adelphia. He and his wife bought an island on nearby Lake Bonaparte and was invited aboard the CCS staff. "Doc" was a blessing to everyone he new including all of the former Comets he coached. Coach V sings the praises of three former players who are currently pro lacrosse guys. The emphasis will be on Andrew Bracy the most surprising pro player he has ever coached. Andrew is a face-off guy for the Long Island Lizards of the MLL. His dream is playing out based on effort and determination, a true American success story! Andrew was a small college guy after a less than stellar Carthage career who saw an opportunity to live out a dream by using the tried and true American way of, commitment, dedication, and good old fashion hard work! Coach also spends time boosting the career paths of PLL head coach and former Comet Nat St. Laurent and another Comet, PLL Water-dogs OC Robbie Cross...enjoy the showSupport the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)

Enjoy today's ramblings about "obsession" with Coach V who has recently become a grandfather for the 1st time! The show has nothing to do with the birth of his 1st grandchild, Alina Josephine, but everything to do with the "obsessiveness" that it takes to be successful in sports. Coach talks about coaches from his past who were obsessed with their craft, as well as athletes he knew who too were "obsessed". Coach believes that if you haven't seen your young athlete using this time away, because of the 19, in some way to become better at athletics, you need to take a step back and rethink the possibilities. Most great athletes are successful because in some way they are.....obsessed! Maybe as a parent, based on what your child has been doing to prepare for the end of this "shutdown" ought to re-evaluate your opinion of just how high of a level your child might be able to achieve? Hey, did I mention I'm a grandfather?Support the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)

Coach V does a pod/videocast sponsored by Greg Santoro in honor of Bishop Verot Vikings Boys Lacrosse and uses an idea shared by NYS HOF Basketball coach Tom Miller and asks what are you a Carrot, an egg or a coffee bean? When dropped in boiling water they all change, the carrot becomes soft, the egg becomes hard on the inside and the coffee bean changes the boiling water. Coach V tells stories about adversity in life, the current pandemic situation, and about how this might equate to the team.......When he's done he hopes you ask yourself the question....are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?Support the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)

Coach V tells of circumstances in his life that helped him become a person who extends his hand to others to help them obtain greatness! This small town guy was afraid as a youth to leave the small town. Afraid of failure? Maybe, but through the support of his family he finally was able to rise above the feeling that no one ever leaves Carthage, no one "great" comes from there! He spent his career extending his hand to Carthage kids helping them out of Carthage and helped his athletes shake off the "hold them back" mentality that he perceived was Carthage.... Don't be the guy who holds those heads from getting out of the pool, be a person who extends your hand to help others to their own GREATNESS!Support the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)
Coach V shares his adopted philosophy about the makeup of any team, group, or organization. He explains how he understands the theory of these three groups that compose your team/organization/business. The three groups being those who are a) all in b) those on the fence c) those who are out and never will be in. Coach talks about going from being a fence guy as a youth to how he became an ALL IN guy as he matured. Coach became successful when he became ALL IN and surrounded himself with people who shared his passion! You are either in or your out....Support the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)

During Coach 24's career at Carthage HS he developed a list of 24 requirements (rules) each player and parent had to commit too by signature prior to the start of the season. Today you will hear the rules and the reason behind the rules and why there were 24 of them. If you are of the philosophy that you need 3 rules, or that 24 is too many Coach 24 will tell you why he thinks if you coach high school kids you are wrong!Support the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)
Coach steps on a few toes today when he talks about parents and kids wanting to bypass the skill development part of playing at the next level with showcases! Coach tries to set the record straight that skills have to be developed and concentrated on before you look for a place to be discovered! Back in the day......the only kids playing at the next level were kids who came through programs where skills were emphasized and honed before you even though about "showcasing" your game!Support the show (https://paypal.me/24s24?locale.x=en_US)
