Its mission is to share, support and inspire: to share the love of the game of lacrosse; to support sick and severely injured lacrosse players, many of whom are children with cancer; and to inspire others to become ambassadors. We create a network of support around our families who are undergoing difficult circumstances and stay with the families throughout their journeys.Throughout my playing career in professional lacrosse, I had a lot of great relationships with people, and lacrosse is such a tight-knit community that people would come to me and say, “Hey, we have somebody in our program who has cancer. Could you come and do an appearance, or send him a video, or send an autographed helmet for a fundraiser to raise money for his family?” It happened more and more often, and in 2014, we were at the World Championships in Denver, and we said, “Let’s do something. Let’s figure out a way to make a difference.” We started the Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation that day. Our motto was to share, support and inspire. We share the game. We try to inspire more people to be ambassadors to the game, and we support lacrosse families in need. Throughout the past 4 years, we’ve really brought our focus to supporting lacrosse families in need. One of the first players we supported was Noah Hays, a 17-year-old goalie from Charlotte, NC. One of his family friends contacted our foundation, and we immediately went into action. We went up to Charlotte with a group of professional lacrosse players, and we put on what we call a

Today on what got you there Sean is joined in studio by the greatest lacrosse player of all time Casey Powell. Casey’s love for the sport started in the small town of Carthage, New York and from there Casey went on to be a 4 time All American at Syracuse University. While at Syracuse Casey won a national championship and was the recipient of 2 NCAA Division 1 Most Outstanding Player awards. Since his college career, he's continued his success, ranking first in MLL history in points and won the league's MVP award at the age of 38 in 2014. Powell is also the only American-born player to ever be named the NLL MVP. He's also gone on to lead a lacrosse non-profit organization, The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation, which supports lacrosse players, coaches, organizers and enthusiasts from across the globe to preserve its powerful and unique culture, while also growing the game. In addition, he has a video game that bears his name "Casey Powell Lacrosse 16." Lacrosse legend, Casey Powell, shares his journey on and off the lacrosse field on The Brink of Midnight Podcast. Casey Powell is one of the most accomplished lacrosse players in history. From winning NCAA (Syracuse University) and world championships (MLL, NLL), All Star and MVP titles, and being the face of the only major lacrosse video game on the market, he has truly done it all in the world of lacrosse. Like a lot of us, Casey was drawn to sport through imagination and backyard games. The first to have and hold a lacrosse stick in his small New York town, he developed an almost instant passion for lacrosse that underscores all that he does in the sport community today. Whether it's innovating through his new Speed Lacrosse, serving others through his World Lacrosse Foundation, or connecting one-on-one with youth players across the country, Casey's authenticity is undeniable and a unique mix of humility and style…the same mix he developed as a kid dodging clotheslines and apple trees, playing in the neighborhood. Sports matter. From the lessons earned and community built around shared purpose, and this conversation will move you to think creatively about how to chase your passion while supporting your own community in profound ways.
