Dear Hillside: I invite you to join your church family (new members and old) for the worship service tomorrow at 10:00 AM. Remember, tomorrow we have one 10:00 AM service (We're now in one service mode until fall when we'll kick it back to two). Friends, let's never forget the priority of worship in our lives as children of God and individual “stones” of his new “temple.” If we've come to view the worship service as mainly about us, let's remind ourselves and our kids that the living God is the audience. Let's remember as well that he's also an “actor” in the event who “acts” upon us through every element (singing, considering the announcements, giving, listening to the word). Every worship service is an opportunity to celebrate him and be changed by him. Looking forward to seeing you for church and the Second Sunday celebration immediately afterwards.Come worship with Hillside Covenant Church LIVE at 10:00 AM both online and in person as Dan Seitz teaches from James 1:19-21.This week's sermon notes are available at: https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZneEO5ZqvTO2Gj1elXUMybq0zbBUzSJygI7If you are new to Hillside and are looking for ways to get connected and build community, visit our website: https://www.hillsidecovenant.org/ We welcome you to Hillside and are so glad you joined us today! To give in support of Hillside Covenant and its ministries follow this link: https://hillsidecovenant.churchcenter.com/givingThe full service from Hillside Covenant Church, Sunday, May 10, 2026.

The layers to basketball in Canada grow each year, and today we have someone who's connecting a lot of dots in the hoops world around us, Cailey Theos! The current “Manager, Partnership Marketing & Community Impact” at Canada Basketball has a great story, and that job title doesn't come close to all the things Cailey has on the go! After breaking her dad's heart and choosing the rival University, Cailey came back to Windsor, where she graduated from the sports management and leadership program! If you know the show then you know that peaked our interest! James and John made a request of Jesus that they could sit in places of honor on either side of Him in the kingdom. Jesus had to set them straight about how to become "great." He said if you wanted to be great or be first in His kingdom you had to become a servant to all, just as He was. So what are some things we can do to become servants and become great in the kingdom? They might surprise you.
Meet Richie Mensah, the visionary founder who transformed Ghana's music landscape with nothing but a $12 computer microphone and unwavering self-belief. In this profound conversation, Richie reveals how he built Lynx Entertainment from a bedroom studio into a multi-faceted media empire that's launched some of Africa's biggest musical talents. What separates Richie's story from typical success narratives is his radical philosophy of personal accountability. "Whatever you are right now, if you are poor, you are a self-made poor man. If you are rich, you are a self-made rich man," he asserts, challenging listeners to stop blaming circumstances and start taking ownership of their choices. This refreshing perspective frames success not as luck or privilege, but as the natural outcome of disciplined decision-making.Richie shares intimate details about his journey - from disappointing his doctor father by abandoning medicine for music, to his mother taking out loans to support his dreams, to the countless financial setbacks he overcame through strategic thinking. His insights on partnership, scaling businesses, and financial knowledge provide a masterclass in entrepreneurial thinking that transcends the entertainment industry. The conversation illuminates Richie's counterintuitive wisdom about branding ("There's no good brand or bad brand - every brand works"), mentorship ("It's not the actions I took that you should take, it's the belief and consistency"), and achievement ("To succeed is simple, but it's not easy"). These principles have guided him through building multiple successful companies under the Lynx Group umbrella.Whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur, creative professional, or simply someone seeking to take greater ownership of your life, Richie's story will transform how you think about success, failure, and the power of unwavering belief in your vision. Listen now to absorb the mindset that turned a passionate music lover into one of Africa's most influential entertainment moguls.Support the showWatch the video episode of this on YouTube - https://linktr.ee/konnectedminds

What makes someone truly great in God's Kingdom? It's not status, platform, or self-confidence—it's transformation and humility. In this message, we unpack Jesus' answer to the disciples' question: “Who is the greatest?” His response wasn't a success story—it was a child. We look at how becoming great for God starts with heart transformation, grows through humility, and is displayed in how we care for others. If you've been chasing recognition or performance, this message will reset your vision for what true greatness really looks like.
What makes someone great in God's eyes? It's not age, skill, or outward strength—it's the heart. In this message, we look at the story of David: a young, overlooked shepherd boy with a heart fully set on God. While others saw size, God saw surrender. While Goliath flexed strength, David revealed God's glory. Greatness in the Kingdom doesn't wait for age or perfection—it begins with a heart aligned with God's purpose. We'll also introduce Nathan Johnson, our new Student Pastor, as he prepares to lead the next generation with that same kind of heart. This message will challenge you to give God your heart, trust Him with your youth, and live to display His greatness—not your own.
Kick it with me as I talk about consistency being the key to success, eBay claiming my sneakers from NIKE are counterfeit, and what you have to do to be great. If you want to ask me a question to be answered on a future episode send them to JamesCamachoComedy@gmail.com or comment it.
In honor of Mother's Day, Kevin Maloney skips ahead this week to Matthew 20:17-28 and unpacks the request made by the mother of the sons of Zebedee. She asks Jesus if He would assign her sons important positions in the kingdom, seated at His right and left hand. Jesus uses this request to demonstrate real greatness in the kingdom of God: a path antithetical to the way we view success in this life.
What if being great for God meant standing alone, breaking down, or being overlooked? In this message, we walk through the life of Elijah—not just his boldness, but his burnout. You'll see how God shapes greatness through obedience, isolation, healing, and discipleship. Whether you feel strong or struggling, your calling isn't canceled. God still works through the wounded.
What does it mean to be great for God? In this powerful message, we unpack four foundational truths from the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego that show us what real greatness looks like. It's not about age, talent, or status—it's about faith that obeys, courage to stand, commitment to community, and most importantly, a connection to Jesus. When the world demands compromise, will you stand firm in God?

His portfolio of companies employs over 325 people living all over the world. Nick lives with his wife and 3 children in Athens, Georgia. He's the author of the book, The Sweaty Startup: How to get rich doing boring things. Notes: Sales is the foundation of Every Business. From Nick's mentor, Dan Cohen: “If you don't like sales, I suggest you give up now and go get a regular job. You're wasting your time.” “Life as an entrepreneur is sales.” To succeed in this world, you must have the cooperation of other people. The attributes of winners: Abundance mindset A sense of urgency Not afraid to stand up and call you out. The story of his VP of Finance, Kevin. He called Nick out on deals he tried to make while Kevin was on vacation. Make good decisions Aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and do the work The Four Fundamental Truths of Life 1. You can't do it alone. 2. You can't make people do anything. 3. Everyone in this world is selfish. 4. It isn't about you. So how do we use these four fundamental truths of life to get what we want? Sales. We sell ourselves and our ideas. We convince other people that their lives will be better if they trust us, work for us, buy from us, and more. Networking. Don't go to events telling others to help you. Become someone worth knowing. Do something of value that makes others want to come to you… The story about the guy wrangling carts on a cold night at the Walmart in Ithaca, New York Nick credits a lot of his success to his parents, Tim and Susan, for raising him around a dinner table of positivity and curiosity. They made him feel as if he could accomplish anything and taught him to see the world through a lens of opportunity. Change your mind: Nick has a note taped to his mirror in the bathroom that says, “Change your mind on something today.” The most valuable trait of an entrepreneur: A sense of urgency. Most people walk slow, think slow, move slow, and make decisions slow. They lollygag around life. No energy. No excitement. Do uncomfortable things. Make the calls. Start a lawn care business if you're a kid. Decision making - You have to practice it. It's a muscle Decathlon at Cornell - Brutally hard. 10 events. You never do your best in all of them. You take L's. Have to respond and go to the next event. Struggle with grace. Ego - Need to balance belief with humility. There are two types of people in the world. Those who are humble. And those that are about to be humbled. “You're interviewing for your next job every single day.” Hiring is like hunting. Always looking. Life/Career Advice: "Don't be a doctor or a lawyer. What game are you playing? What does winning look like? Most people aren't thoughtful enough about that."
The NFL has a big week in front of them as the Super Bowl approaches. Democrats are bring out the same old playbook against Elon Musk and Doge after the shuttering of USAID. And Donald Trump may have another big move coming.

Does this matter to me as I think about how I'm engaging the task of “parenting?”In this episode, Josh talks about what he's learning from his own spiritual journey right now and proposes a developmental spiritual growth model for fathers and mothers that moves us from a journey of being self-focused (fear) to others-focused (joy). What if there was no such thing as innate talent? That's the argument my guest today is making: that talent is not a cause, but an outcome. It is cultivated, developed, and learned. I'm talking with Dr. Rishi Sriram, who serves as Associate Professor of Higher Education & Student Affairs for the Department of Educational Leadership at Baylor University. His research interests include the development of talent and college student retention, engagement, achievement, and learning, and he is currently working on a book about the development of talent. Rishi has identified what he calls “The 5 Ms to Becoming Great” which we unpack in detail together: Mindset (what you believe) Myelin (how you learn) Mastery (what you do) Motivation (how much you care) Mentorship (how you are taught) We also discuss the benefits of productive struggle and its impact on the brain, and how teachers can support students who resist tasks that require a lot of effort and concentration. Additionally, Rishi offers advice for working with students who don't appear to be interested in becoming great at anything or have tangible goals for themselves. He shares important information that educators can use to help students pursue greatness and be willing to put forth the effort to increase their talents. Rishi is a fascinating guest who explains the research around talent in such an engaging, clear, practical way. Listen in to learn more about how to develop your own talents, and support students in becoming great at the things they want to do in life, too.
