WELCOME TO SEASON 2 OF THE BYT PODCAST! I decided the theme for Season 2 is BEING REAL -- for this episode there was no better way to be real than have a real conversation with my “literal” younger sister, Ana. A glorified GenZ-er, world traveler and self care enthusiast, join us in a funny conversation about our toxic traits, personal growth, depression, FINSTA's, self-care, frequencies and a lot more, this is probably my longest podcast yet but girl, we had a lot of catching up to do! This is also the first podcast episode that I video recorded portions of so I'm excited to edit those and share them with you later. Enjoy! my ig: anelalanikn ana's ig: ana.malia
Aloha BYT's, Today, I talk to Marion Jones of The Mu'u Mu'u Library who is a dear friend of mine. We have a conversation about sustainable fashion, honing in on your life's mission and making prayer a part of your daily life. Marion and I met a few years ago and connected on our love for learning, entrepreneurship and God. You get an inside on all three and our relationship in this catchup between sisters. I've always respected her drive and her love for helping locals thrive. I hope it gives you a delightful insight into Marion's vision for the Mu'u Mu'u Library and the future. Hello Beloved Young Things, This episode is about “how I fight my battles.” These battles are mostly spiritual or in my mind or both. We get real about wrestling with my faith while trying to encourage others in theirs. I want to open the conversation to be honest with our questions about AND to God. I also share a bit about why, although life is still hard now, it's lighter because I've welcomed God into my life. I encourage you to be honest with yourself about questions you have for God. Go deep within, reach far and wide for answers. Never stop seeking truth and truth will come. Aloha Beloved Young Thing :) This episode shares biblical reminders about the process of being refined. I've been feeling the weight of the world on my own shoulders but also seeing it on the shoulders of a lot of my loved ones. It's been coined a “trying time” right now. Is it possible God is refining you through putting you under more pressure than you expected? It is possible God is putting you through hardships to clear out things that no longer serve you? I believe he's taking me to a better place through my suffering and I want to share the encouragement that he may be doing the exact thing to you. Hi BYT, Do you feel like you're constantly hustling or working yourself to the bone? Are you spending time running around like a chicken with your head cut off? I've been there! Heck, I was just there a few weeks ago. God wants us to know that humbling ourselves to his way and his plan is a far better idea than hustling to get to the next step in your plan. This episode and the verses inside it remind me to slow down and embody the tree in Psalm 1. Hello BYT, In this episode I'm sharing some of my spiritual dreams and how you can easily determine whether or not your dream was from God or from your own mind. Dreams that speak directly to our spirit or seem to be messages from God can leave us with more questions than answers, this episode speaks on what to do in order to get those answers. Humans have been trying to figure out dreams for so long but with faith, we are reminded that God uses dreams to speak to us, too, so we don't have to figure them out all on our own. Hi BELOVED YOUNG THING! In this episode, I'm exploring the alcohol anxiety connection (is there one?) YES! These two a-words are so bad together, you wouldn't believe the toxicity they spew into our lives. I go over 6 proven facts I learned about how alcohol affects anxiety and vice versa. I also share some of my stories about my alcohol journey and why it means so much to me, and is so bad for me. I speak about the dark energy I see surrounding alcohol and offer some resources for any of you who may feel like you, too, have a slight drinking problem. Alcohol is a STRONG weapon of the enemy for many people, like myself. Let's defeat it, once and for all. Love and blessings, Anela P.S. Aloha Beloved Young Things! Today, I'm encouraging you to create and calling all creatives to have faith in their creations. Our masterful Creator has called us to be like Him as we were made in His image. One way we embody being like Christ is creating or building in order to keep the cycle of creation flowing. Today I'm rambling on about a few dangerous spiritual practices that I had to give up. If you are a Christian, these are very dangerous to your spiritual walk because they rely on powers that are not of God therefore not good. Specifically, we talk astrology, psychics, the law of attraction and yoga. If you dabble in different spiritual practices, this episode will explain why you might want to rethink those beliefs and consult God for truth and guidance. In today's episode I felt like sharing a journal session I did in the wee hours of dawn. I'm talking about how much I needed to know that, when I make bad decisions I am not a bad person. You are forgiven by God before you even forgive yourself, but in this episode we go through that part of forgiving yourself and moving on. Maybe you've held onto something from your childhood or past that you feel regret for. Something that makes you feel unworthy of love or understanding. Go through today's exercise with me to see how it feels to finally release that regret and fall into the grace that only God can give. Happy Sunday Morning, Anela P.S. In today's interview I'm talking to my cousin and pwipwi (the Chuukese word for sister) Jenial Dungawin of SeeOfJenial.com. I love this girl so much and we were best friends when we were little so to be able to reconnect is always such a blessing. We meet each other on parallel paths of faith today and discuss her journey from not believing in God to now, wholeheartedly devoting her life to Him. You're in for a cousin chat full of love and laughter. If you're Micronesian or a Pacific Islander we do touch on the dangers of witchcraft in the communities which is something I'm seeing too often online. We also dig into the Catholic Faith and the beauty of the many practices they do. I hope this episode blesses you as much as it did me, With love, Anela P.S. In today's episode I'm talking about the benefits of therapy and whether or not it is worth your time and money. If you've been having a hard time, mentally or emotionally, and wondering if you should seek out therapy or haven't even thought of it as a solution, this is for you. Not only has therapy helped me through panic attacks, anxiety, confusion and relationships with others, it has also brought me a lot of perspective and knowledge. Many young women are interested in psychology and how the mind works but are weary or afraid to explore their own psychology, this is your call to action! Self-care is going to therapy to get the help you need and not neglecting those needs any longer. With love AND support, Anela P.S. In today's episode we talk about the spiritual discipline known as “fasting.” We talk about different forms of fasting, the spiritual purpose of fasting and also how to determine whether or not you should try out a fast for yourself. Are you feeling stuck spiritually? Or do you feel like your life is yearning for a breakthrough or change that you can't quite pinpoint? Does your spirit seem restless and calling out for answers? I felt all those things and more before I fasted for the first real time and my life has been different ever since. I share my personal testimony, my real come to Jesus moment and also read a poem that was inspired by the event. When I was most hungry to get to know God, I fasted and was filled. To kick off Beloved Young Thing's interview episodes, I am interviewing my dear friend Lesle Machado Hilliker who is an amazing woman, wife and mother. She has a mission to inspire and encourage peace amongst opposing perspectives with an emphasis on truth seeking. Today, our conversation is a lot like one of our coffee dates, with little structure and a lot of magic. We wind up talking about surrendering to God in overwhelming moments of motherhood and daily life, how we were introduced to a deeper relationship with God and much, much more. In this episode I'm sharing my personal journey with panic attacks. We dive into some solutions I tried on my own to try and end my panic attacks and then, more importantly, solutions that worked out for me, in the end. Today, I no longer “suffer” from panic attacks but I can readily recognize a feeling of panic coming on and stop it in its tracks. If you've ever had a panic attack or are currently suffering from them, this is for you. Everyone's struggle is different but through sharing my experience I hope that you not only feel less alone, but walk away with some tools to guide you through your battle. Mental health is SO crucial right now and if you're going through it, I know how you feel! You can do this. You are much stronger than you think, Anela P.S. In today's episode we talk about matters of the heart. These days, it can be easy to overlook our most important emotional asset, our heart. With the state of the world, and the negativity surrounding our everyday lives, we can easily get caught up in a mess of hurt. How can you protect your peace and your heart? By asking yourself three questions. Together, let us examine our hearts and minds. With these three questions, we'll be able to determine how our heart is doing today and how to love it, heal it and protect it even more tomorrow. Guard your hearts, beloved young things!
