In this episode of Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, host Avik Chakraborty sits down with Rachel Lundberg, a movement educator, chronic illness survivor, and founder of Yoga Oak University. Rachel shares her transformative journey from ballet and modern dance to creating a global yoga education platform. Together, they explore how mindful movement, breathwork, and alignment-based yoga can regulate the nervous system, release emotional tension, and support holistic well-being. Whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, Rachel offers practical insights into using movement as a tool for emotional, mental, and spiritual growth. Learn how simple breath practices and conscious movement can unlock deep healing and reconnect you with your authentic self. About the Guest:Rachel Lundberg is a movement educator and founder of Yoga Oak University. A chronic illness survivor and truth-seeker, Rachel combines anatomy, neuroscience, and spirituality in her alignment-based yoga specialist certification programs. She is dedicated to helping individuals and healthcare providers harness the power of mindful movement for emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Key Takeaways: Movement is more than physical exercise; it is a tool for emotional and spiritual processing. Breath regulates the nervous system: inhalation activates sympathetic (fight or flight) responses; exhalation engages parasympathetic (rest and reset) responses. Simple daily practices, like conscious breath and mindful movement, can down-regulate stress and anxiety. Awareness of the body's state—activated, frozen, or depressed—guides personalized practices for healing. Sensory engagement (touch, sound, sight) can help shift energy and increase presence in the moment. Regulation doesn't require advanced yoga; even one mindful movement or one conscious breath can initiate healing. The ABC technique (Acknowledge, Breathe, Connect) helps identify bodily sensations and guide nervous system regulation. Most people spend their lives avoiding the emotional "basement" where trauma and pain are stored. But what's in your basement doesn't stay there - it affects your health, relationships, and everything else. What You'll Discover: ✅ Why spiritual issues underlie most health and relationship problems ✅ How your unconscious mind (the biblical "heart") stores all your memories ✅ Why you can't just lock painful experiences in the basement and move on ✅ The connection between ancestral memories and your current well-being ✅ How images control your heart more than thoughts or willpower ✅ Practical tools to heal trauma at the source, not just manage symptoms Key Topics Covered: The heart as the central metaphor in both psychology and Scripture Why ignoring emotional trauma creates physical and mental health issues How the unconscious mind communicates with the conscious mind The relationship between gratitude, positive emotions, and physical healing Why addressing circumstances never solves the real problem Transformative healing through intentional practices Powerful Sound Bites: "You have to open that door to your basement. You can't just throw it in there and lock it up." "It's never too late to drain your stress barrel." "The biggest control you have over your heart is the images you allow in." "Your life is never about your circumstances - you have to heal the source of your issues." Core Message: The heart (your unconscious mind) is where psychology and biblical teaching converge. Healing requires confronting and resolving past traumas with proper tools, not just covering them up or managing symptoms. Transformation is possible when you address the spiritual and emotional foundation. Practice of Paradise Update: The Founder's Special has closed with amazing early results. We unpack migration as more than immigration: movement across generations under pressure from war, economics, and longing. Naming those movements reduces shame, expands compassion, and builds what Jenn calls emotional elasticity in our home cultures. Sometimes life trips us up unexpectedly—small missteps, hidden slopes, or blind spots we didn't see. In our daily prayer and devotional, Sophia Bricker uses the metaphor of stumbling at the zoo to illustrate how sin and error can catch us off guard, impacting our steps long after the fall. The good news is that we don’t have to stay down. God offers grace to the fallen. When we confess our sins—not hiding them or excusing them—Scripture promises that God is faithful to forgive and purify us (Psalm 51:4; Psalm 32:5; Proverbs 28:13). Rather than despairing over past failures, we can lift our hands, repent, and allow Jesus to stand us up, clean off our wounds, and guide our next steps. God is the Helper of the brokenhearted. The One who lifts those bent under burdens (Psalm 145:14) is the same One who receives our confessions and restores us. In His mercy, we can walk in freedom, not haunted by what we once did, but empowered by who we are in Christ. Today's Bible Reading: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”— 1 John 1:9 (NIV) Key Takeaways Falling into sin doesn’t disqualify us from God’s forgiveness. Confession is the pathway back to cleansing and restoration. God’s grace is more powerful than our failures. He doesn’t just pick us up—He purifies and strengthens us for the journey ahead. Let’s Pray Together Lord, I confess my sins before You. I have stumbled and failed You, but I thank You that You are faithful to forgive. Wash me, purify me, and lift me up by Your grace. Help me walk forward in the strength and forgiveness You freely give. In Jesus’ name, Amen. But what if it's not coming from your gut at all? What if there's an entire team on the other side actively guiding you, protecting you, speaking to you every single day? And what if the only reason you can't hear them clearly is because you've been taught that this kind of communication ended 2,000 years ago? What if I told you that someone's mother sat down one day and received a channeled message that ended with words so clear, so specific, it demanded an answer?Today our guest is Michael McAdams. 700 episodes! What better way than to do this episode with Nancy who has been here with me through all of the seasons and cohosts and guests on the Awesome Marriage podcast. And there is no better topic for us than to talk about how powerful prayer is for your marriage and the daily rhythm of praying together. Nancy initiated praying together on our first night as a married couple and we've kept it going ever since. Not only does it serve to protect our marriage, but it serves to grow us each closer to the Lord and one another. Join us as we talk about the power of a praying couple and how to pursue spiritual growth together.   Episode Highlights: If you feel uncomfortable, start with silent or guided prayers- just start somewhere. Prayer becomes a rhythm that allows you to partner with God. Prayer becomes the glue that helps you withstand the seasons of marriage and life together. Hard times have been some of the biggest seasons of growth individually and in our marriage.   Quotes from Today's Episode: Praying together can feel intimidating at first, but it's not about perfection—it's about inviting God into your story, one honest word at a time. It's hard to pray when you're angry—and hard to stay angry when you start to pray. There is power in the prayer—and even greater power in the One we pray to. When couples choose to consistently pray and grow together, it changes everything—your marriage, your family, and generations to come will be transformed. Let God lead you, one small step at a time. Habits of faith begin with intentional choices. If you miss a day, don't quit. The habit matters more than perfection—keep pursuing God together. There is nothing like drawing close to your spouse in spiritual intimacy—it's a bond deeper than anything else. Take time to talk honestly about where you are spiritually as a couple, without judgment. When life takes an unexpected turn, when a relationship ends, plans fall apart, or disappointment appears out of nowhere, it can feel like everything is working against you. But what if life is still on your side, even in those moments of heartache and uncertainty? This podcast episode invites you to see challenges in a new way and find peace in the middle of change. When you stop believing that life is against you, you begin to open to the quiet rhythm of possibility, where healing and hope can start to grow. Even in pain there is movement. Even in loss there is life still unfolding with you. Take ten minutes to breathe, reflect, and remember that you are not separate from life. You are part of it, and within that connection, there is always a way forward. Poem: Life Is Still With You When the path breaks open beneath your feet, and everything you planned disappears into air, pause. The world is still breathing with you. The sunrise does not forget your name. The wind still carries new beginnings. Life is not against you. It moves through you, even now in every breath, in every quiet act of courage, in every small moment you choose to begin again. “The church is a multiethnic and multicultural assembly of believers spanning history that God has called into fellowship with Christ and with one another. We gather regularly to consider the teachings of the Bible and to orient our lives around God's coming kingdom. Together we wait for God to make all things new, and we bear witness to the world of what God has already done.” - Becoming God's FamilyWhat is the purpose of the church? If you talked with different people you'd likely get different answers. You might hear that it's a place to worship God. You might hear that it's just a place people go to feel better about their lives. There's a broader conversation happening about whether or not the church still matters. Even amongst Christians, there's a question over why they need to go to church when they can just believe in Jesus and read the Bible on their own. Today's episode is all about the church and the importance of with-ness. My guest today is Dr. Carmen Joy Imes, associate professor of Old Testament at Biola University and author of the new book Becoming God's Family: Why the Church Still Matters. In this conversation we talk about her trilogy of books about our relationship with and to God (of which this is the third), we talk about why there's even a question around whether the church matters or not, we talk about the role and function of the church, and the truth of how church gatherings are really oriented around what we cannot do on our own. Doable Discipleship is a Saddleback Church podcast produced and hosted by Jason Wieland. Ever wonder what happens when the next generation wakes up before we do? At Spirit Fest USA, we sat down with Kris Owsley, founder of Lightworkers United Training Academy, to talk about how she's helping kids...and adults...embrace their gifts, manage energetic overload, and step fully into their purpose as healers in a world that desperately needs them. This one hit home for us in a big way. Our own 14-year-old joined us off-camera during the interview, and what unfolded was a powerful, real-time teaching moment about how kids today are feeling everything; the energy, the emotions, the collective chaos, and don't always know what to do with it. Kris broke it all down in a way that's both practical and profound: How to help kids recognize when the “bad vibes” they're feeling aren't theirs. Why our words literally program our reality (and how to stop accidentally affirming what we don't want). How to protect your energy from “poison darts” being thrown by others. The quick “reset” technique that instantly raises your vibration. And why two simple words—“I AM”—might just be the key to reconnecting with Source itself. This conversation goes from parenting to planetary healing, from teenage angst to ascension, and it might just reframe the way you think about energy hygiene forever. As Kris puts it, “Everyone's gifts are awakening globally. Our job now is to teach the young ones how to use them.” Episode HighlightsWhat happens when kids come in already tuned into higher frequenciesHow lower vibrational environments affect emotional healthWhy gratitude is the fastest “vibe shifter” there isThe truth about mindset and the energy behind the words “I am…”How Kris is building an international academy to train future healers (with multilingual video translations!)Why healing others starts with mastering your own vibrationConnect with Kris Owsley Follow Kris (Kristen Terrell Owsley) everywhere: Instagram(https://www.instagram.com/kristenterrellowsley), Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/kristenterrellowsley1111), or join her global community One Tribe Noname' I Am, a space for lightworkers to unite, learn, and grow together. Website: https://kristenterrellowsley.com/This episode is equal parts heart, humor, and healing. This conversation invites you to release what you've been holding onto, make space for God's work in your heart, and remember that flourishing doesn't always look like flowering – like we read in Psalm 92, God compares us to palm trees and reminds us that flourishing can look more like strength than beauty. The Grove is an extension of all God is doing at Passion City Church in Atlanta, Georgia. In this episode, you'll discover:Whether mystical states are just neurons firing or something science can't explain yetWhy human morality keeps evolving and what that means for the stories we call truthHow to use technology to train your focus without losing the magic of transcendenceHave you ever noticed how the though ts that torture you most aren't even yours? They're hand-me-downs. Scripts you inherited from parents who inherited them from their parents. Cultural programming that told you productivity equals worth. That rest is laziness. That your value comes from how much you can do for everyone else. You've been running on these thoughts for so long you forgot they're just thoughts. Not truth. Chasing experiences. MDMA, plant medicine, skydiving. Anything to feel something other than the hollow ache of not knowing who I was underneath all the performance. Those experiences cracked me open. But they didn't teach me how to stay open. That's what meditation did. It taught me that the version of me chasing dopamine hits wasn't broken. She was just afraid to sit still long enough to meet herself.Today our guest is Ariel Garten, neuroscientist, psychotherapist, and founder of Muse, the brain-sensing meditation headband. She's lived with undiagnosed ADD her whole life and used meditation and neuroscience to literally rewire her brain.Links from the episode:Show Notes: mindlove.com/423Join the Mind Love CollectiveSign up for The Morning Mind Love for short daily notes to wake up inspiredSupport Mind Love SponsorsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
