With “The Prayer Closet” and “The Quiet Time”, we've taken the “basics” of the Christian life and gone deeper into them. Now, it's time to evaluate how much we are allowing prayer and the word of God to continually change us. The first 5 books of the Bible present a great picture of our spiritual growth process as seen in the Nation of Israel.

What happens when your entire relationship with money, worthiness, and abundance is built on stories you absorbed before you were old enough to understand them? And what if those stories are the very things keeping you stuck, small, and spiritually exhausted? In this powerful, hilarious, and deeply human conversation, we sit down with Sarah Walton... speaker, teacher, money mentor, and creator of The Abundance Academy...to dismantle the myths that keep so many of us living on emotional and financial crumbs. Sarah's journey begins in a grocery store in Utah, where teenage Sarah realizes she must choose between her family's survival and her own dreams. That moment shapes decades of decisions, right up until she's a high-powered corporate executive with a corner office, a ficus tree, two kids she barely sees… and a constant sense that something is deeply off. Her story is raw, relatable, and a wake-up call for anyone who has ever believed “I can't have both,” “there's not enough,” or “wanting more makes me selfish.” In This Episode, We Explore: 1. The Three Money Myths Holding You Back Borrowed from Lynn Twist's The Soul of Money, and expanded through Sarah's teaching:Myth #1: There's Not Enough — The scarcity mindset that keeps us hoarding, shrinking, and apologizing for wanting more.Myth #2: More Is Better — The endless treadmill of “just one more digit,” and why it never creates fulfillment.Myth #3: That's Just the Way It Is — The resignation that kills change before it starts… and repeats the same life over and over.2. Sarah's Grocery Store Origin Story How a moment in high school shaped her entire belief system, and how she ultimately broke free after realizing her life was being run by a terrified 16-year-old. 3. The Corporate Career Wake-Up Call The ficus tree. The Jimmy Choos. The constant nausea. The toddler calling her at work. The ticking clock she couldn't un-hear. And the moment she quit her job that same day. 4. How to Stop Living on Crumbs Sarah explains how to recognize when you're accepting far less than you deserve... emotionally, energetically, financially — and how to shift into true agency and abundance. 5. The Exercises That Rewire Your Brain Accessible, free, science-backed practices that change your inner chemistry and create real momentum toward your goals. 6. A Baymax-Shaped Money Spiritual Guide?? Yes. And honestly… it's perfect. Sarah shares how she personifies money as a loving, warm, always-present protector inspired by Big Hero 6, and why that exercise changed her life. 7. Curveball Questions — Sarah Walton Edition You know we had to. Sarah reveals:The one push notification she'd send to every phone on EarthThe sassiest loving advice she'd whisper to the worldAnd who money would be as a movie character...complete with monologueKey TakeawaysMost people's money fears come from childhood, but adulthood offers the chance to rewrite the script.Wanting more doesn't make you greedy; it makes you honest. You don't need millions of followers, you just need the right “small but mighty” group who values your work.Awareness is the first step to freedom, especially when it comes to money. It is dangerous, spiritually, emotionally, financially, to believe “this is just the way things are.”Tools, Links & Resources Mentioned Sarah Walton's Website https://sarahwalton.com Includes her free Freedom Calculator - a PDF that helps you determine your personal financial freedom number and start moving toward it with clarity and purpose. Mind Love • Modern Mindfulness to Think, Feel, and Live Well
In this episode, you'll discover:Why survival mode blocks you from your own inner knowingHow to tell the difference between being busy and taking real actionThe three stages of pausing that pull you out of autopilot modeWhat if the very thing you think is making you productive is actually keeping you stuck?I used to believe that the more I did, the more I'd achieve. More workshops. More meditation apps. More morning routines. I was collecting healing modalities like they were going out of style. I was convinced that if I just found the right combination, everything would click. But I kept feeling exhausted in a way that sleep couldn't fix. One day I realized something. All that doing was just another way to avoid being. I was so busy healing that I never had time to actually feel anything. Most of us have confused motion with momentum. We think pausing means falling behind. That rest is for people who aren't serious. But what if the opposite is true? What if you're stuck because you never stop long enough to recalibrate?Today our guest is Jeanette Bronée, a self care strategist, keynote speaker, and author of The Self Care Mindset.Links from the episode:Show Notes: mindlove.com/428Join the Mind Love CollectiveSign up for The Morning Mind Love for short daily notes to wake up inspiredSupport Mind Love SponsorsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

What is gluttony really? If you’ve ever worried about overeating, obsessing about food, or wondered whether enjoying that extra slice of cake is a spiritual failure, this episode is for you. Best-selling author and host Heather Creekmore dives deep into the true heart behind gluttony—exploring why our modern definitions miss the mark and how diet culture and church culture have distorted our understanding. Heather reframes gluttony, drawing on biblical insight, church history, and thought-provoking examples from C.S. Lewis and Tim Keller. She challenges the idea that gluttony is simply about having seconds or what’s on your plate and asks powerful questions about cravings, control, and where we derive our satisfaction. Plus, Heather explores how misplaced fears about food can keep us stuck and why true freedom comes from surrender—not self-denial. Whether food has become a source of stress or you’re striving for perfect control, this conversation will open your eyes to new ways of understanding your desires and finding satisfaction. Ready to rethink gluttony and experience food freedom? Listen now for practical encouragement, spiritual wisdom, and a fresh take you won’t want to miss! “Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from inside the fish. He said, ‘I cried out to the Lord in my great trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the land of the dead, and Lord, you heard me! You threw me into the ocean depths, and I sank down to the heart of the sea. The mighty waters engulfed me; I was buried beneath your wild and stormy waves. Then I said, “O Lord, you have driven me from your presence. Yet I will look once more toward your holy Temple.”'” Jonah 2:1-4The book of Jonah is without a doubt the most known book of the prophets and perhaps one of the most well known of the Old Testament. That is to say, most of the story is well known. From the earliest ages the story of Jonah and the fish or Jonah and the whale is taught in church classrooms around the world. But usually that story ends in chapter 2 . . . but there are still two more chapters to the book of Jonah and, you know what, the conversation today spends most of its time in chapter 4. To help us navigate the book of Jonah is Dr. T. Desmond Alexander, Senior Research Fellow in Biblical Studies at Union Theological College. So let's leave what you think you know about Jonah behind and strap in as Desi Alexander takes us on a really fun and thought-provoking journey into the book of Jonah. True love for God is revealed not in emotion, intention, or religious activity—but in obedience. In this episode, we explore the sobering contrast between Jesus' call to keep His words and Saul's tragic downfall in 1 Samuel 15. God desires obedience over sacrifice, and when we choose our way over His, we silence our ability to hear Him clearly. Through Scripture, we uncover how obedience restores intimacy with God, keeps our hearts teachable, and positions us to walk in His will without delay.

Most people crumble the second someone hurls an insult their way. You, me, everyone. But this short episode throws a Zen-sized wrench into that reaction with one of the simplest, hardest truths in spiritual awakening: You only suffer when you accept the insult that was handed to you. Will reads “The Gift of Insults,” a powerful parable from The Monk and the Butterfly that reveals why your peace isn't actually as fragile as you think...it's just mismanaged. And then he goes off-script into a raw, honest reflection on triggers, the pain-body, energy dynamics, and why letting people “take your peace” is a decision… not an inevitability. This is one of those deceptively small episodes that lands like a tuning fork in your chest. What You'll LearnWhy insults are “gifts”, and how not accepting them changes everythingHow your pain-body hijacks your reactions (thanks, Eckhart Tolle)Why people try to steal your energy, and how offering it freely disarms themA practical approach to staying grounded when someone comes at you sidewaysHow triggers point to deeper inner work you've been avoidingWhy protecting your peace is a skill… and one you probably haven't mastered yeWill digs into:How this same lesson plays out with his daughterWhen “not accepting the gift” becomes spiritual bypassingWhy understanding the energetics behind conflict changes how you handle itHow to stop giving away your power without becoming cold, detached, or numbWhy This Matters If you're on a spiritual path, you're going to be challenged, often by the exact people who know how to push your buttons. This episode gives you the framework to stop getting dragged around by other people's emotional chaos. It's not about perfection. It's about awareness. Control. Choice. EVERYBODY was sure SOMEBODY would do it. ANYBODY could have done it, but NOBODY did it. EVERYBODY thought ANYBODY could do it, but NOBODY realized EVERYBODY wouldn't do it. In the end, EVERYBODY blamed SOMEBODY, when NOBODY did what ANYBODY could have done. Untimely, as a disciple of Jesus, if we're going to represent Jesus, be an expression of Him, we can't assume someone else will be the one to do it.
Jesus redefines greatness as humble service. In this message, we explore how grace frees us from striving for status and empowers us to lift others up, following Christ's example of self-giving love.

A Dallas, Texas intersection turned into my holy ground! It was the Light cutting through fog, life breaking into death. In this episode, I share how a near-collision at Midway & Alpha became the moment God moved me from religion to relationship—and how your testimony can do the same in someone else's life. This Godcast moves from story to Scripture to Savior, showing testimony isn't self-spotlight, but God speaking through redeemed lives. Grace doesn't quiet us... it sends us. Not with tales of our Egypt, but with Exodus steps. Not eloquence, but “Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” Not culture's noise and confusion... but with the living Word, sharp and tender. Now, GO! Testify where He placed your feet on dry ground; not the bondage you left behind, but the freedom He gave you to live in. Then invite someone to that same Deliverer. Today! God's Word: Key passages: John 9; Acts 9; 1 John 5:9–11; Revelation 12:11; plus, Genesis 1, Exodus 25, Psalm 118, Ezekiel 37, Ephesians 2 & 6, Hebrews 4 & 13, and more. You will be able to glean the rest of them from the transcript, amen?Email: walkingtheway3@gmail.com

Join Pastor Derek Walker from the Oxford Bible Church as he explores the profound connections between the Gospel and the Year of Jubilee. Discover how the Gospel message, as preached by Jesus, fulfills the Old Testament Typology of the Jubilee—a time of liberation, restoration, and divine grace. He delves into the origins of the Gospel in the Old Testament, its central role in the New Testament, and its significance for believers today. This enlightening session highlights the transformative power of the Gospel as a 'now message' calling for faith, repentance, and the acknowledgment of Christ's Sacrifice. This teaching reveals the origins of the Gospel in the Year of Jubilee, which took place on the Day of Atonement, when the Jubilee Trumpeters proclaimed forgiveness, release and restoration for all, throughout all the Land, on the basis of the great sacrifice made on that day (Leviticus 25). Jesus initiated the preaching of the Gospel, and commanded us to continue preaching this same Gospel. In Luke 4, Jesus claimed that His preaching of the Gospel was the fulfilment of Isaiah 61, a prophecy of the Messiah fulfilling the Type of Jubilee for all men by preaching Good News to the poor, proclaiming the Acceptable Year of the Lord, on the basis of God's acceptance of His great final Sacrifice (Isaiah 53).

He encourages believers to remain faithful to God's word and to be prepared to bear witness to the power of Jesus' name. The sermon is both a historical reflection and a call to spiritual perseverance, inviting the congregation to cultivate a spirit of endurance.
What happens when divine identity collides with self-doubt—Can our fears become the doorway to purpose? This week on Latter-Day Lights, fellow author, podcaster, and life coach Cassidy Beck shares her deeply personal journey through imposter syndrome. After interviewing her father during his final moments on Earth, in an attempt to write his life's story, she found herself creatively blocked after his passing, in doubt that she would ever be able to write without him. From then on, she studied impostor syndrome, its causes, and all the tools she's learned over the years to overcome it. Her main mantra? Ordinary stories—and the people behind them—matter far more than we think.Cassidy also opens up about the six-year journey behind her children's book “Sheep Chronicles: Baptism,” from writing multiple versions to facing publisher rejections and questioning her own worth. Through it all, she's learned that our efforts can still fulfill the measure of their creation. And, most importantly, that remembering who God says we are is one of the most powerful answers to self-doubt and rejection fatigue.Join Scott, Alisha, and Cassidy in this enlightening discussion about navigating fear as a creative. With all three having walked their own paths of inspiration, this episode offers a uniquely heartfelt look at how God shapes us through the act of creating—and how our most vulnerable moments often become our most meaningful offerings.*** Please SHARE Cassidy's story and help us spread hope and light to others. ***To WATCH this episode on YouTube, visit: https://youtu.be/WwKcpW9DnqU-----To READ Cassidy's book, "The Sheep Chronicles," visit: https://a.co/d/1GqHhQxTo CONTACT Cassidy as a coach and publisher, visit: https://www.sageversepublishing.com/To LISTEN to Cassidy's podcast, "Verses & Visions: Creative Conversations," visit: https://www.sageversepublishing.com/podcastTo READ "The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women and Men," by Valerie Young, visit: https://a.co/d/85lZJgnTo READ "Impostor Syndrome No More," by Jill Stoddard, visit: https://a.co/d/aTpNfuvTo READ Scott's new book “Faith to Stay” for free, visit: https://www.faithtostay.com/-----Keep updated with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/latter.day.lights/Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/latterdaylightsAlso, if you have a faith-promoting or inspiring story, or know someone who does, please let us know by going to https://www.latterdaylights.com and reaching out to us.
