Kelly, NP founded Medical WeightLoss & Wellness (MWLW) a decade ago after becoming increasingly frustrated with a career as a nurse (and later an NP), in emergency medicine. Kelly considers herself a “recovering candyholic†who has refrained from her “gateway drug†for years now. Her Wisconsin based clinics promote lifestyle change through the MWLW ketogenic diet designed specifically for weight loss. “I’m here to share with you my personal journey as well as the journey of others, provide some weight loss success tips, drop a little keto knowledge, and so much more!"
The Confessions of a Candyholic podcast is a captivating and informative show hosted by Kelly Clark, a renowned expert in natural keto approaches to weight loss. As someone who recently discovered her through Gary Taubes' book The Case for Keto, I feel incredibly fortunate to live in Wisconsin where her clinics are located. Upon becoming her patient, I was introduced to this podcast by one of the nurses, and it has become an invaluable resource in my journey towards adapting a healthier lifestyle. What sets this podcast apart is Kelly's unwavering focus on the science behind her weight loss plan, which she skillfully distills into easily understandable explanations. Her expertise, combined with her pleasant and encouraging demeanor, make this podcast an ideal choice for anyone contemplating a natural keto approach without relying on artificial foods.
One of the best aspects of The Confessions of a Candyholic podcast is Kelly Clark's deep knowledge and understanding of the science behind weight loss and ketogenic diets. As a former scientist myself, I greatly appreciate how she explains the mechanisms occurring within the body during the weight loss process. Kelly's ability to break down complex scientific concepts into digestible pieces allows listeners like me to not only understand why certain strategies work but also makes it easier to implement them effectively. This emphasis on evidence-based information distinguishes this podcast from others in the field.
Furthermore, Kelly's enthusiasm and encouragement are truly infectious throughout each episode. She has an uncanny ability to motivate listeners to take charge of their health and embrace positive changes in their lives. Whether discussing mindset shifts or providing practical tips for overcoming challenges along the way, her genuine passion for helping others shines through in every word she speaks. This personalized touch creates a welcoming atmosphere that fosters trust and inspires individuals seeking long-lasting results.
However, one potential downside of The Confessions of a Candyholic podcast could be its narrow focus on natural keto approaches without artificial foods. While this commitment may resonate with many listeners looking for a holistic approach to weight loss, it may limit the variety of perspectives and strategies discussed. Some individuals might find themselves wanting more exploration of other dietary approaches or modifications that can complement the natural keto lifestyle. Nonetheless, Kelly's dedication to her chosen method remains admirable.
In conclusion, The Confessions of a Candyholic podcast hosted by Kelly Clark is an exceptional resource for anyone considering a natural keto approach to weight loss. Kelly's extensive knowledge and passion for the subject shine through in every episode as she distills complex scientific information into relatable and practical advice. Her warm and encouraging demeanor resonates with listeners, making this podcast both informative and inspiring. While it may focus strictly on natural keto approaches without artificial foods, its invaluable insights make it a worthwhile listen for those seeking evidence-based guidance on their weight loss journey.

As the ketogenic diet increases in popularity, we are seeing more and more keto-related products flooding the market. One of the most popular and best-known of these are exogenous ketones. They claim to boost the effects of a ketogenic diet and even give you some of the benefits of keto without restricting carbohydrates. In this episode I”m going to walk you through the claims vs. the science when it comes to this particular highly marketed supplement that we are finding many of our patients are taking without fully understanding what it's doing (or not doing) for them as they strive to meet their weight loss goals! An optimal vitamin D level is more important now than ever before! Vitamin D has been proven to: affect our mood and behavior, as well as the rate at which we age, strengthen our immunity, prevent heart disease, diabetes and cancer, assist with weight loss, strengthen our bones, reduce bodily inflammation, and even reduce mortality risk related to COVID-19! While vitamin D is available in small quantities in food, its primary source must come from a vitamin D supplement. We know how essential vitamin D is to our health and well-being! So WHY are 95% of African Americans and 70% of light-skinned Americans walking around right now with vitamin D levels considered insufficient, or worse, deficient? Vitamin D is a hormone, and as with any hormone that is not in balance, our body can be thrown into a state of disarray. Think of it this way, if a man was deficient in testosterone, how would he feel? If a woman's thyroid was not producing enough or too much hormone, how would she feel? It's time we take our vitamin D levels much more seriously and approach low levels with the same tenacity we would any other hormone imbalance! **I have listed some references mentioned within this episode. I am not able to fit all of them. If you'd like the complete list, please email the clinic and we would be happy to provide them to you!
