According to the website skincancer.org, 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70. An increase in awareness in skin cancer is significant since the link between UltraViolet exposure and skin cancer is well established. A lot of people especially during summer holidays bathe in the sun for long periods not knowing that it could pose a risk in the development of skin cancer. Of course there are other factors to consider that contributes to its development but I think it is useful for all of us to be aware about skin cancer so that we can be vigilant enough in having it checked when needed for prevention purposes. ////// Email: NursetalksIG@aol.com
In Nursing, we are so used to working with frameworks. One of the most important frameworks that nurses or those in medical practice use is the ABCDE framework. The ABCDE tool is used for the identification and prioritization of patient problems. In stable patients, the use of this tool can be done very quickly. The ABCDE is an acronym for Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, and Exposure. //// Email: nursetalksIG@aol.com

Nurses should however be vigilant on the sources they use for EBP making sure that it is reliable, legit, and consistent with aims of really using and applying the best available evidence.

Public Speaking is a skill that a lot of people dread about. However, there’s always that time in our life that we will be forced to speak in front of a lot of people. If we learn to embrace our fears & transform them into positive energy, we develop that skill of controlling it and establish confidence when we speak. This is a realisation that I got when I engage myself in public speaking, but the learning does not end there. Public speaking is a journey in that each time I am on a speaking engagement, there’s always something new to learn and it will always be a journey because public speaking is a broad area in itself & we learn to improve through observations, feedback, knowledge and just by talking to people.
