With limited experience, Reid took the bull by the horns and got the Blues playing some excellent and entertaining football - until he was later replaced by Brian Horton and went on to resume his playing career elsewhere. Some players don't spend a long time at a club, but still make a big impact or are known for one moment. Niclas Jensen, during his season-and-a-half at Maine Road, was a solid left back option for Kevin Keegan's Manchester City. However, he's most remembered for a wonder strike in a home win over Leeds in 2003. He volleyed in from the edge of the box after Nicholas Anelka crossed in the second half, beating Paul Robinson with a belter of a shot into the far corner. He's been on a trip down memory lane with the Blue Moon Podcast's David Mooney. Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Visit acast.com/privacy for more information.

Manchester City have often been dubbed the comedy club for their ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Nothing is too weird for the Blues to have done and it's why the fans have always needed a dark sense of humour - even when it's looked like times have been good, in more recent years. Comedian Jason Manford, a City supporter himself, has made it his life laughing at the world around him, so targeting the club he's a fan of is something that comes naturally. The Blue Moon Podcast's David Mooney and Dan Burns caught up with him in 2010. Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Visit acast.com/privacy for more information.

There aren't many players who make the switch directly from Manchester United to Manchester City and that's exactly what Terry Cooke did in 1999. Of course, City were in the third tier and United were in the Premier League - so they weren't really competing with each other at that stage. It's still an exclusive club to be a member of. Cooke went on to play a part in City's back-to-back promotions to return to the top flight and took a successful spot-kick in the penalty shoot-out win over Gillingham at Wembley. David Mooney spoke to him in 2019. Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Visit acast.com/privacy for more information.

Known for his tough-tackling and ability on the ball, Hendry was well-liked by the Maine Road faithful for his flamboyant style on the ball. The Blue Moon Podcast's David Mooney caught up with the former Scotland international in 2017. Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Visit acast.com/privacy for more information.

Paul Walsh may have only spent 18 months at Manchester City, but it left a lasting impression on his life. Speaking to the Blue Moon Podcast's David Mooney in 2021, he says that it was actually one of the most enjoyable spells of his entire career - and that's part of a career where he won the league and the FA Cup away from Maine Road. As part of a dynamic, free-flowing and attacking side under Brian Horton, Walsh was a forward who would regularly get fans on their feet - and he formed an impressive partnership with Uwe Rosler.
