In a dynamic crossover episode of The Smart Property Investment Show and the First Property Buyer Show, host Emilie Lauer sat down with PRD chief economist Dr Diaswati Mardiasmo to explore how data drives property investment decisions in Australia. They begin by highlighting the importance of analysing long-term trends, with Mardiasmo advising investors to examine seven to ten years of suburb performance rather than reacting to short-term fluctuations. Rental yield, vacancy rates, and upcoming developments in the suburbs are also flagged as key metrics for assessing potential returns and risks. Despite the recent 0.25 per cent cash rate increase, Mardiasmo says demand remains strong across the country. The duo dives deep into the different markets, noting that Sydney and Melbourne have slowed, while Brisbane's unit market surged 18 per cent over the past year, boosted in part by the upcoming 2032 Olympics. Brisbane's growth is spreading beyond the city centre to suburbs like Logan and Ipswich, offering affordable investment options. Melbourne, while slower-growing, presents value opportunities, with new apartment supply potentially driving renewed investor interest. Mardiasmo also discusses challenges for first home buyers, noting reduced borrowing power but highlighting available government grants and schemes. Overall, the episode offers practical, data-driven insights for investors and first home buyers, emphasising preparation, strategy, and market awareness. Are Leicester or West Brom really heading to League One? It doesn't look good for at least one of the midlands giants who are stuck in a battle for survival at the bottom of the Championship. At the top it is four on the spin for Coventry and their Christmas wobble seems a long time ago. They look well set for promotion to the top flight. Ipswich are chasing Middlesborough in second...is the rest of the top six how it will finish? Or are Hull and Wrexham still ripe to be picked off by the likes of Watford or Southampton? In League One Lincoln City are a point off the top but perhaps just as significantly they're ten point clear of third place Bolton. from fourth place down it is any one's guess with seven teams fighting for the three remaining play off places. This episode includes, among other things, "the most French thing editor Chris could find on the Internet." Can you guess which book that might be for? If not, you better listen, because we've got four very different books, despite two of them being written by women named Rebecca. Maybe we should do an episode in the future where all the books are written by someone with the same first name! Or one where all of them are set in Ipswich, MA! Put a pin in that. Anyway, this fortnight, we read: "Murder Bimbo," by Rebecca Novack "The Memory of Babel," by Christelle Dabos "Family Drama," by Rebecca Fallon "Heartland: A Forgotten Place, an Impossible Dream, and the Miracle of Larry Bird," by Keith O'Brien What sound effects did we give each of these books? You'll just have to listen and find out! Oh, and if you're listening to this before March 10, 2026, you should come to the Beverly Farms Library and hear us chat with Keith O'Brien!

What a weekend for Wrexham AFC. Not only did the men pull off one of their greatest results since the takeover - the women's side snared their first bit of silverware. Tim, Andy and Rhys are ecstatic as they look at both amazing victories. As well as reflecting on Jenny Sugarman's history makers we ask: was that Lewis O'Brien's AND George Thomason's best game for Wrexham and how much credit must go to Parky for moulding ANOTHER promotion hunting team?We also look at a near assault on one our players, ask if Ben Sheaf really is out for the season and what do we think about our chances against Portsmouth. In December 2006, the town of Ipswich was rocked by a spree of brutal murders targeting sex workers in its notorious red light area. But the story didn't end with the capture of the so-called ‘Suffolk Strangler', Steve Wright… The murders of Tania Nicol, Gemma Adams, Anneli Alderton, Annette Nicholls and Paula Clennell would go on to transform policing strategies for prostitution in the UK (and even inspired a tone-deaf musical). And with killer Steve Wright back in the news in February 2026 after pleading guilty to the murder of schoolgirl Victoria Hall in 1999, this decades-old case still hasn't run out of surprises.--Patreon - Ad-free & Bonus EpisodesYouTube - Full-length Video EpisodesTikTok / InstagramSources and more available on redhandedpodcast.com

This is a big one. Wrexham have drawn Chelsea in the FA Cup — and once again the eyes of the football world are on the Red Dragons.Andy, Liam and special guest Simon Cooke react to the blockbuster tie, exploring the surprising connections between Wrexham and the West London giants. They look at why Phil Parkinson seems to have a cup hoodoo over Chelsea, revisit previous pre-season “friendlies” between the sides, and ask whether this draw feels written in the stars. The episode also covers Wrexham's FA Cup victory over Ipswich Town and previews the upcoming league clashes with Bristol City — and Ipswich (again).------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Enjoy this Fat Boar-sponsored episode? How Suffolk Constabulary secured justice decades later — and what this case reveals about sex worker safety, family liaison, evidence-led policing, and whistleblowers. In this episode of Crime Time Inc., Simon and Tom examine Steve Wright — widely known as the “Suffolk Strangler” (also referred to as the “Ipswich Ripper”) — and the cold case breakthrough that linked him to the 1999 abduction and murder of 17-year-old Victoria Hall.We unpack what made Suffolk Constabulary's investigation stand out, how advances in forensic science can reopen “closed” history, and why long-term family liaison support can matter for decades, not days.Simon and Tom also explore the realities of policing vulnerable communities, the risks faced by sex workers working on the street, and how systems and legislation can unintentionally increase danger rather than reduce it.The conversation broadens into “policing politics” — when forces get pulled into high-stakes public controversies — and finishes on a practical, real-world discussion of whistleblowers: how to separate genuine warnings from grievance, and why leadership must follow the evidence either way.Listener note: This episode discusses murder and violence against women.Chapters / Timestamps00:00 Crime Time Inc. intro00:44 A pause from Zodiac: back to the Suffolk Strangler case02:42 Suffolk Constabulary's investigation & long-term family liaison05:18 Broadchurch and what not to do as a family liaison officer07:22 Steve Wright, victims' families, and the 1999 case08:39 Pattern, geography, and “spree” timelines10:32 Could there be other victims? In June 1967, 75-year-old Louisa Dunne was murdered inside her home in Bristol, England. The murder became one of the oldest cold cases in modern UK history. Fifty-eight years later, advancements in forensic technology helped authorities identify the killer. Join Mike and Gibby as they travel to the UK to discuss the murder of Louisa Dunne. On June 28th, 1967, Louisa's neighbors were concerned when they noticed one of her windows was open and they hadn't seen her outside. One neighbor climbed through the open window and discovered a grisly murder scene. DNA preserved from the crime scene eventually pointed to a 92-year-old man named Ryland Headley, a widower from Ipswich. But witnesses and law enforcement officials from the case had died by this point, making a conviction that much tougher. You can help support the show at patreon.com/truecrimeallthetimeVisit the show's website at truecrimeallthetime.com for contact, merchandise, and donation informationAn Emash Digital productionSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

More than 25 years after the crime was committed, a man already serving a whole life order for five murders has pleaded guilty to killing again. This admission dates back to 1999, years before Ipswich became a crime scene, and years before his name was known to the public. This afternoon, serial murderer Steven Wright stood at The Old Bailey once more, and was sentenced to 40 years in prison for a murder that lay unresolved for decades. This is the story of a person whose violence didn't begin where most people think it did. Long before the discovery of were Tania Nicol, Gemma Adams, Anneli Alderton, Annette Nicholls, and Paula Clennell in and around Ipswich, there were warning signs, near misses, and unanswered questions. Some of them were reported at the time. Others only make sense in hindsight. But together, they paint a picture of behaviour that was escalating quietly, went largely unnoticed, and was ultimately catastrophic.Exclusive content:Patreon - Ad Free, Early Access, Exclusive EpisodesFollow the show:British Murders with Stuart BluesDisclaimer:The case discussed in this podcast episode is real and represents the worst day in many people's lives.
