The Mayor of FPL Tom Campbell guest hosts the Gameweek Review Podcast this week with James to discuss the fallout from the 9 games played in Gameweek 10, and it featured some shocking performances, none worse than James' Tottenham who limply lost to Chelsea. Newcastle can also lay claim to a shocker as they were beaten at West Ham yesterday, whilst there were important wins for Liverpool and Manchester City, but they are no closer to an Arsenal side who won to nil at Burnley. There's an FPL overview on every side that played, short-term punts to consider, the genuine merits of owning players like Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo, the appeal of forwards versus midfielders, Crystal Palace assets and lots more. Plus, Tom took on an unusual challenge in FPL this season, and though it hasn't worked as hoped, he's finding enjoying playing more than he did last season. Jack Elderton and Darcy Cox break down West Ham's 2-1 loss to Leeds United in the Premier League. Nuno Espírito Santo took a risk at Elland Road by picking a similar line up to that from the previous fixture, a 0-2 loss to Brentford, which ended up backfiring as the Hammers' put in yet another hugely concerning performance that saw Daniel Farke's team ease past a fragile West Ham. The introduction of Freddie Potts, Mateus Fernandes, Soungoutou Magassa and Kyle Walker-Peters might have given West Ham a lift in the second half, but first half goals from Brenden Aaronson and Joe Rodon meant Fernandes' 90th minute header was too late to salvage any points in what is fast becoming a massive fight for survival at the bottom of the Premier League table. Jack and Darcy dissect the game, discussing the surprising team selection from Nuno, including the repeated use of inverted full-backs in Oliver Scarles and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as well as the inclusion of Tomáš Souček and Andy Irving in the middle of the park at the expense of Magassa, Fernandes and Potts. They also break down the tactical ideas from both sides, the importance of physicality in the Premier League and West Ham's struggles to compete, how and why the side improved in the second half and if it's possible to find any positives in the underlying data to suggest the London Stadium might not be hosting Championship football next season. I can't remember the last time a Manchester United player other than Bruno Fernandes was a viable FPL asset, but Cunha and especially Mbeumo finally appear to be hitting their stride. Could it be time to invest? In the striker department, Haaland is of course unnegotiable currently; Mateta isn't too far off, having racked up a whopping 7.99 xG in just nine games—only marginally less than Haaland himself. Who should our third forward be? Jacob and Jiayang have both become rather enamored with Igor Thiago, though one could also make good arguments for Woltemade and Kroupi Junior. Finally, we take some time to critically reassess our fixture-o-meters—that is, our perception of fixture difficulty. Sunderland and Leeds, who we thought would be easy targets at the start of this season, have shown thus far that they are more than capable of holding their own. On the flip side, West Ham, Wolves, and Nottingham Forest have been worryingly bad. Perhaps it would be wise, at least for the moment, for us to purge from our memory the fact that they have typically been solid, mid-table teams, each of them even having competed for Europe in recent years.

Arsenal going clear, Sunderland beating Chelsea at the Bridge or Bournemouth going second? And Man Utd looking resurgent. This season seems to be different.
