Goal is a 5 inch leg (after cuff), so ~60 rounds Cast on 56 sts with US 1.5 for cuff. After cuff, knit a few rounds before doing 4 sets of increases (4 increases each time) to get to 72 sts. Then changed to US 2 needles and tested for stretchiness after first block of colorwork. Using that I plotted out the colorwork for one sock based on Pacific Knit Co's Garden Doodle set. I stayed with him from December 5-21. Dad and I had a lovely visit from our friend Merry who came with an unexpected gift- a bracelet with beads made from my mom's funeral flowers in red (ruby slipper), yellow (yellow brick road) and white for home. Dan and I had a lovely double date night at the Irish pub with friends. I was able to see my 7 year old niece Hattie as Gretl in Sound of Music (twice!!!) Making Aunt Milly's cookies with Riley and Millie (and having a sleepover with them). Christmas Eve & Christmas Day were both lovely. Definitely different without my Mom and grandmother there but it was still a joy to be together. Our friend Gail joined us as she usually does and brought all sorts of fun games for us to play. The Sunday after Christmas, I was able to spend all afternoon with my grandmother, some of that alone. My friend Megg came over because she wanted to visit and say goodbye. We had dinner together after. My friend Laura came in for NYE. Small get together with friends at my Dad's turned into a real party, though most didn't stay until midnight. Megg wanted it to be a sparkly kind of night so Laura and I got outfits for the three of us at the consignment shop on the way over! Very silly fun. My cousin Mike and his husband Kyle came up from Florida. My grandmother's services were beautiful with contributions from lots of family members. While it was more stressful than mom's, and it was the worst form of deja vu having the same schedule for that exact same Thur/Fri two years in a row- my grandmother would be happy with how it all turned out.  Skiing on Saturday after the funeral. 7 of us, impromptu trip, icy conditions but we still had a blast.   Quote of the Week "Amidst the normal hard stuff is the abnormal hard stuff. Frankie Miller has one of those voices that stops you mid-sentence — gritty, soulful, aching, and unmistakably real. It's the sound of lived experience, shaped by smoky pubs, late nights, hard miles on the road, and a deep love of rhythm and blues. Born William Malcolm Miller in 1949, in Glasgow, Scotland, Frankie grew up in a working-class environment where music wasn't a luxury — it was a lifeline.As a teenager, Frankie was already soaking up American blues and soul records, falling hard for artists like Muddy Waters, Otis Redding, and Ray Charles. Those influences never left him. You can hear them in every rasp, every shout, every tender moment in his singing. By the late 1960s, he was fronting his own band, Frankie Miller and the Powerhouse, building a reputation as a formidable live performer around the UK. Long before the record deals and chart success, Frankie was earning his stripes the old-fashioned way — on stage, night after night.His big break came in the early '70s when he signed to Chrysalis Records. His debut album Once in a Blue Moon (1972) immediately showcased his emotional range and powerful voice. The album also revealed something else: Frankie wasn't just a belter — he was a storyteller. Songs like “I'm Falling in Love” hinted at the soulful depth that would define his career.Over the next decade, Frankie Miller released a run of albums that firmly established him as one of the great blue-eyed soul singers of his generation. Records like High Life (1974), The Rock (1975), and Full House (1977) blended rock, soul, and blues with effortless confidence. The Rock in particular is often cited as a high point — raw, energetic, and brimming with personality. It also helped cement his reputation internationally, especially in the United States, where his sound resonated deeply.Frankie's songwriting talent didn't go unnoticed either. In fact, some of his most famous songs became hits for other artists. “Darlin',” co-written with Ian McLagan, was famously recorded by Elvis Presley, while “You Don't Know” was covered by artists including Ray Charles. Rod Stewart also became a close friend and champion, recording several Frankie Miller songs and helping introduce his music to an even wider audience. It was clear: musicians loved him as much as fans did.Despite the success, Frankie never chased trends or tried to polish away the rough edges that made him special. His voice remained raw and honest, often sounding like it might crack — and sometimes it did — but that vulnerability was exactly the point. SYNOPSIS:The lines often get blurred in Moonlighting, and this is one example. David is still in prison, and nobody knows where he is. It's not only his friends who are wondering where he is; it's also network executives. They seek the services of a fortune teller, who uses a crystal ball in an attempt to locate David, but all she sees are bars. Following this, they begin auditioning to find a replacement. We begin to see the auditions, with men in line all dressed up in various outfits that David wore in previous episodes. David is released from solitary confinement and placed in a work gang, where his fellow convicts advise him to marry Maddie.Bert is using his new, temporary title of Blue Moon supervisor, awarded to him by David, to put the employees in line. David witnesses illegal activities by a prison guard, who is about to kill him, but fortunately, a riot starts, allowing David to escape unnoticed. Agnes and Bert decide to start investigating the whereabouts of “Mr. Addison.”The episode features a lengthy musical number performed by the prisoners in the style of "When I Was a Lad" from Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S.
