A weekly podcast featuring tales of women who are connected in some way to the ocean. Breezy Mulligan, the host interviews a wide range of women including, a sailor who takes people offshore sailing with her husband, a marine biologist who is the southern California regional manager of Reef Check, a sailor who paints and blogs about her travels and a shark biologist who occasionally freedives with these beautiful top predators.
Selena McMillan is a marine biologist who works for Reef Check, a non-profit that uses citizen scientists to collect data on the marine protected areas of our oceans. Selena is very passionate about diving and the diverse world that can be found at her doorstep in the kelp forests off the coast of California. Dr. Denise Hardesty is a research scientist with CSIRO’s Oceans and Atmosphere. Her current research focus is on the flow of plastic from Australian communities to the ocean. She works closely with the government and the local communities to help create a comprehensive narrative of how marine debris affects us all. She is also a global woman whose work has taken her from Africa to Antarctica!
Natalie at the age of 30 quit her 9-5 job and then set out and became a record holder free diver, a scuba instructor and a yoga instructor. Her mermaid tale is super inspirational. Currently she lives on a sailboat named Nomad with her partner and they run charters where they cook for you, do yoga classes and teach you how to free dive! Anna Cummins is the co-founder of the non-profit 5 Gyres which implements plastic research in the 5 gyres of our oceans, raises awareness about the plastic in our oceans and campaigns for changes in policy to promote more sustainable practices. Links:5 Gyres
