Today I had the special honor of speaking with Mauricio Ramos, managing member of Demidici group, a real estate investment firm with 135 doors and 9M AUM with the majority of properties being in San Antonio and McAllen Texas. In this episode, Mauricio shares his experience starting in real estate through mobile home investing to wholesaling single family and then eventually finding success through multifamily wholesaling. Mauricio shares how he has been able to whole sale multifamily units for six figures and what has allowed him to scale his investment portfolio by finding great off market deals.
Today I had the special honor of speaking with Candace Pilgrim, the cofounder of Astra equity, a real estate investment firm with 154 doors and 11 Mil AUM. In this episode, Candace shares her experience of starting and scaling her first business of electronics wholesaling, why she switched to multifamily investing, the lessons and numbers with her first 40 door apartment, as well as how she built her JV team of 3 other members to scale.
Today I had the honor of speaking with Eric Upchurch, an Army Special Operations veteran, senior managing partner at ADPI Capital, and the co-founder of Active Duty Passive Income, an education platform that helps teach military members how to create long term wealth through real estate. Eric currently has 571 units, and $62M of AUM with properties located in Indianapolis, Louisville, Atlanta, and San Antonio. In this episode, Eric shares his journey from military to real estate investing, how he looks at his education business vs his real estate business, why Eric chooses to keep his W-2 instead of being "financially free", and some of the challenges of raising capital and investing while also educating.
I had the special honor of speaking with Maureen Miles, co-founder of 4M Capital REI a vertically integrated multifamily syndication company based in Atlanta that has 125M AUM and 1850 doors in their portfolio. In this episode, Maureen shares her experience of starting out flipping duplexes to become financially independent but achieving financial independence after her second multifamily deal, how she was able to successfully vertically integrated her property management business, and why she is transitioning to development for workforce housing.
Nick is the founder and CEO of Simpson Building Enterprises. A multifamily investment firm focused primarily in student housing in Salisbury MD. Simpson Building current has 100 units around $50M AUM with another 86 apartments under development from ground up student housing. In this episode, Nick shares his experience starting and niching into student housing from single family to larger multifamily, switching to commercial real estate and the lessons learned, and what it's like raising capital and working on new development.
Today I had the honor of speaking with Ivan Barratt, founder of Barratt Asset Management, a multifamily investment firm that has 400M of AUM and 4000 units primarily located in Indiana. BAM started as a multifamily management company that transitioned into syndications and has recently closed on a 50M fund. I had the special honor of speaking with Kevin Romney & Mike Ballard from Camino Verde Group, a multifamily investment company that started back in February 2019 and has since acquired 100 apartments with 270 under contract. In this episode, Mike and Kevin share their experience starting in the multifamily space with no prior experience. Mike & Kevin share that from a group of 40+ students that attended a multifamily boot camp that they were among the only people who have actually grown their business. They share their experience and the reasons they believe what has helped them stand out amongst the rest.
I had the special honor of speaking with Veena Jetti, founder of Vive Funds, a multifamily investment firm that acquires properties through syndication. Veena has built a portfolio of $400M of AUM and 2500 units total. In this episode, Veena shares her experience of moving from corporate finance to single family flipping and then to her first syndication which was a $1.2 Million dollar raise. Today I had the honor of speaking with John Cohen, cofounder of Toro Real Estate Partners, a multifamily investment company that started in 2015 and has since scaled to $250M AUM and 2700 units. In this episode, John shares his story of flipping distressed properties at tax auctions for sometimes $500 a house and he took that experience and rolled it into syndicating and flipping distressed multifamily that he likes to say were a D- and no cap properties into profitable cash flowing assets. John also gives great advice for capital raising and working with investors.

Llyod Jones currently has 5500 units and $750M AUM. Since 1990, Lloyd Jones has developed, owned, and managed approximately $1.1B in total multifamily housing assets. Today I had the honor of speaking with Puja Talati. Puja is the marketing and operations manager at JT Capital Group. Puja's team has a combined 500M of assets under management and 3000 doors. Puja is a former brand manager at The Hershey Company where she managed and marketed iconic brands such as Hershey’s KISSES chocolates. Puja was also a management consultant at Deloitte Consulting, where she worked in numerous industries and service areas, including post-merger strategic planning for Fortune 500 banks. In this episode, Puja shares her experience of falling into the multifamily sector with no prior experience and how she leveraged her project management and marketing experience to help propel the companies growth.
Today we had the special honor of speaking with John Barker, founder of 180 Multifamily Properties, a multifamily investment fund focused in the Dallas/Fort Worth market. John has acquired over 1800 doors and 175 Million dollars of assets under management. In this episode, John shares his journey of starting as a broker and eventually starting his own investment group in 2009 amidst the recession. John shares his unique strategy of how he has been able to grow without using outside capital and has been able to essentially BRRRR his portfolio to now over 175 Million.

Reed shares how he found his first deal being an immigrant and what eventually led to him owning 1857 units.
Joseph Bramante is co-founder and CEO of TriArc Real Estate Partners, a wholly integrated multifamily investment company. He purchased his first multifamily property in the US in 2011, sight unseen, while working as a business team lead for ExxonMobil in Papua, New Guinea. Today, along with his business partners, he has grown a portfolio of over 1100 units, increasing NOI (net operating income) by over 80% on average within 48 months post-acquisition.
I had the special of speaking with Nitzan Mosery, CEO of Cornerstone Investment Partners, an investment fund that has $150 Million plus under management and a total of 950 doors located throughout US. In this episode I had the honor of speaking with Steve O'Brien, Co-Founder and President of Arcan Capital. Arcan Capital is a privately held real estate company focused on the acquisition and management of apartment properties throughout the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and South-Central United States. Arcan has over 250 Million dollars of property under management and services 3000 doors. In this episode, Steve shares his experience of his first job as a financial analyst to starting a investment fund with only 12 single family homes which eventually pivoted to apartment investing to where they now have over 3000 units.
Today, we had the special honor of speaking with David Toupin. David is the co-founder of Obsidian Capital, an Austin-based real estate investment firm. In this episode we talked about how David started investing at the age of 19 and how age and background experience are not obstacles to take action and succeed. David talks about his story on scaling and gaining multimillion-dollar properties and by the age of 24, became a key principal for over 50-million dollars in real estate holdings and has raised a capital of more than 10 million dollars.
Today, we had the honor of speaking with Travis Watts. Travis is full-time investor with over 6,000 units co-owned and is the Director of Investor Relations at Ashcroft Capital. He is a limited partner and describes what it means to be a truly “passive investor” versus what it means to be an active partner in a deal.
